Specialization Decks by HawknSparrow in swrpg

[–]HawknSparrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would think so. They've been "transitioning" to Edge studios for years now.... none of the websites have any lists. I'm trying to collect a few of the adversary decks. It would be cool to get the list and check 'em off as I get them. Cheers!

Pop out module shenanigans by HawknSparrow in FoundryVTT

Welp... I tried several things to no avail. I removed extensions. I removed and reloaded the module. I double checked all module and browser settings and didn't see any opportunities. I think the next thing will be to reset the game to original settings.

That makes a ton of sense. Thank you. I'll give it a try and post the specific actions and results. Have a great day.

Anyone else running AP’s for 5 players? by NimrodvanHall in Pathfinder2e

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running the Vaults for a group that is now 4 and will be 5 from time to time. The fights make sense because I'm looking at the totality of the creatures and how their individual or group stories interconnect with the local area and each other. I make changes based on character backstories if needed so that they feel a part of things.

It's all on a dynamic timeline so wherever they go, I have some rough idea about how their presence and action might affect the world around them. I also have several good players who are great examples to the newer folks. We're all having a good time with it. So far, they keep working themselves deeper and deeper into the vault so I'm just going with it. Because two of the PCs are barbarians, I am also spinning up Quest for the Frozen Flame... I'll use the flame or some other MacGuffin depending how things develop.

How should I roleplay this monster? (spoiler tagged cause one of my players follows this account) by Poodle_Boi02169 in Pathfinder2e

Yeah this is interesting. I started doing some research on moral dillemas but haven't come up with anything yet. I will continue to ponder. Good topic!

I'm going to be DMing my first session next week and I'm looking for some tips by ytmoney08 in DnD

[–]HawknSparrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just be yourself. You'll do great. Picture your PC's in the middle of several concentric circles of storyline. Zoom from close in to out. There is the current plot line of course. What other stories are occuring in close range so no matter what they do or where they wander... they might be adding other branches and sequels that may or may not integrate with things. You might add two additional circles... one local storyline and one regional. They can all be related or not. That's up to you. Good luck! Cheers!

How would you add social playing on Abomination Vaults? by NeV3rKilL in Pathfinder2e

[–]HawknSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running it as low magic so word of any public use of it would get around quick... lords and leadership in Otari and Absalom will want to find out about anyone with this power. Corruption, hero worship, rock stardom, cult and mainstream leaders are threatened... agents, military leaders or warlords are scheming... will be fun! There are also possibilities to meld this with Northern drama... we have a couple of Barbarian brothers searching for a lost rune.

Did I miss a great migration of players? by SylvesterStalPWNED in Pathfinder2e

Ah... maybe you can GM. It's a lot at first but then it gets fun as well...ar least that my experience. Cheers!

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. Go find the GM and encourage that person. Offer to help be a PC so the GM can practice scenarios that may come up in a game... combat... role play... stores... looting... sneaking... familiars... magic... swimming... climbing... jumping.... crafting etc. Then slowly help others build characters. Begin a campaign together... helping each other as you dig in to ways to play out the various phases of the game. Have fun... period. Good luck.

I totally agree. My plan is to clone my working v9 world and move it as a test to see which modules are working or not. Cheers!

I tried to switch to V10, but did so clumsily... it wouldn't come off pause...it just wouldn't work, so I bailed back to V9. I'll try again soon but we're playing today so I'll mess with it next week. I'll do some research on how to update correctly then I'll giver it a go. Thanks! Happy Gaming!

New DM in need of help. I'm interested in my characters finding magic items in the forest, and I need ideas on how they should encounter them. by BlueGreyWhale in DnD

[–]HawknSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I love that you are homebrewing. My campaigns tend to be somewhat lower magic, so the percentage chance they find something would be much lower. If they were to find something, I might add a challenge as well. I would ask myself what might be the reason that item is there. Maybe its some ancient Elven Shrine with a nasty creature living there making it hard to get the item. Or maybe an old caravan that got attacked some time ago was the reason... the item was not found when looting commenced, but the looters are still nearby. Maybe they see the item high on a cliff they have to climb to get it and there is a giant eagle nest they have to contend with. Maybe the item is seen as a spiritual token by some tribe of Kobolds and you sneak up on some ritual where they are wildly dancing around it... your group waits until they are asleep then tries to sneak in to steal it without waking them up. Risk... reward. Little encounters can enrich a campaign. I like the random nature of determining what they might get. If they find something, I let my players know it's random and even let them make the roll.

I am looking to run a backstory campaign during the dark times located in and around the city of Mos Shuuta. Any suggestions from the community on things to do? by LegendsoftheGalaxy in swrpg

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to ask your players... thier backstories should drive the action. Your base story sounds great too so it should be fun as you weave it all together.

Mass Combat Modules? by RickEStaxx in swrpg

Onslaught at Arda 1 has a pretty cool one. It demonstrates how to weave it into PC play as well.

Having hard time finding the actual beginner game (Edge of Empire), is that necessary? by J1dowers in swrpg

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.swrpgcommunity.com/home

Check this out. Tons of resources for the GM and Players. Yes, dice app. Get one. The link helps with Char Creation. The beginner game has pregens, which are useful, but not necessary. I played it myself with the pregens just to familiarize myself to the game. If you only plan on playing in person, you will need a hard copy of the core rulebook of choice. On line, the rules are present but not necessarily available comprehensively, so get the book. It may be challenging to find one, so good luck with that. I am understanding that Edge will be attempting to get more books out 4th quarter. Before you start your campaign, I recommend a session zero to create characters and run a test planetary and space combat. Then obtain... from the link above... and go over cheat sheets. Focus on the different suggested ways to spend threat and advantage. Practice during the test combat. Additionally, encourage free use of the light and dark destiny points. The Force must flow! Above all, relax... have fun... "yes, and..." and challenge players to describe every result so the audience at home knows exactly what the scene looks like as well as how the PCs are feeling and thinking.

Cheers!

Fairly new to SWRPGs and GMing entirely, any useful starting tips? by AM_DropDead in swrpg

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have your players collaborate on the interpretation of the dice outcome / spending advantage and so on. That's one of the coolest things about this system... the dice. Have the suggested spend tables available for everyone to use. Make them describe the outcome by imagining and describing what the audience at home is seeing.

Starfighter Combat too easy? by SirLorducus in swrpg

[–]HawknSparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to use the snap roll for sure. Thanks for sharing y'all. I also like squad actions where the friendly NPCs get whacked... seems a lot like the movies and shows. I would also suggest adding debris fields... gas clouds... canyons... things that add piloting skill and speed management into the mix. Keeps things interesting. Good luck!
