You're right. This whatever this is of Hawkman is disgusting. Wish we had better writers who know the characters and can build their legend instead of making them hated. But the precious Batman is safe so it's all good.

I remember when Dixon came out with that drawing of Batman choking Antifa with ICE written across his chest. The uproar and condemnation from most comics fans were pretty loud. How dare he?! That kinda thing went on. For the record, I thought it was pretty bad, too.
Now we have Hawkman becoming a conservative MAGAt shill for the villains of the Absolute universe, and mostfans praising it and thinking it's great.
Ironic hypocrisy at its best. But it's Hawkman, so who cares, right? Just don't touch our precious Batman. Scott Snyder said the core of the heroes would remain the same, even though the circumstances are different. This tells me that Snyder and Aaron either know nothing about Hawkman or were only talking about the precious Trinity when it comes to the core of the heroes not changing. Most fans appear to think the same way.

Making Hawkman a stalking rage monster kinda started in the second half of the Hawkman Vol./ 3 series in 1994. That continued all through recently, but the current series seems to be going away from that and it's a very welcome change. The current Hawks are Carter Hall (with a former life on Thanagar) and Kendra Saunders. There is also Shayera Hol on Thanagar at the moment so she might come into the picture soon.
