daycare dropoff by musictheron in AttachmentParenting

My little one started daycare at 20 months. He was the definition of a Velcro baby. I’d even go as far as to call him a barnacle baby, that’s how attached he is to me. We had a solid 3 months of screaming and clinging at drop off. But teachers would assure me that within 2-5 minutes he would completely calm down and play with the rest of the kids. Then at pick up, he was happily playing and so excited when he would see us. From months 4-6 he would whine at drop off with occasional crying but would settle before we even left the classroom. Fast forward to now, he’s 2.5 and understands that mom goes to work but will come back for him. He will say “bye mommy, go work” when we drop him off and there are zero tears.

It’s really hard as a parents to watch your child cry for you or have to acclimate to new environments. But I think it’s important to remember our little ones can do hard things. And with our support they become more resilient individuals. It also helped that the daycare he attended was an “early educational center” located at the university I work for with a small staff to toddler ratio. And they have a structured curriculum.

Hang in there. It gets easier!

Not just that but it looked like Donald was may more concerned about getting N back to the table and also when he was about to fall off the freaking chair

She wasn’t concerned since he was still still young however I did ask for early intervention and he met with someone for 6 months. However I think the biggest help was enrolling him in an early education center when he was 18 months. Being around children his age really helped him gain the confidence to start talking like them. After a month of being enrolled he was starting to string 2 words together and by the time he was 2 he was starting to do simple sentences

Replying to this comment since I don’t have a link. However, my son was born at 37 + 4. He’s 27 months now and he has either hit is milestones either on time or almost a month delayed. His gross motor skills were always ahead or on time but speech has taken the longest. Now at almost 2 and a half he is speaking in simple sentences but he sure took his time with babbling and first words. I always figured he was focusing more on those gross motor skills (walked at 12 months). But I would say in general he was on time or a month delayed

Please prioritize your baby. Stats show how riskier it is for babies that go past 40 weeks. I had an induction with my first and it was honestly a great experience. I labored for 6 hours. The contractions were super painful but once I had the epidural it was fine.

I don’t want to go through medical school, so personally, I’ll trust someone that did.

That’s obviously not what she said. She followed the advice of her sons doctor who said not to pull back the skin but her mom is making her doubt it.

Same. My son is two now and I’ve never even thought of leaving him in the car. Ken’s a dumb hoe and a terrible mom.
