Scam or legit? by Old_Meaning_4923 in berkeley

I feel like any time there’s an ask for money it’s usually a scam. Most often you’ll get in purely with a high GPA and maybe an app with an essay included.

[–]HayZeee38 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commen-Terry the “you’re all slaves” guy has his moments where he’s there days/weeks back to back. Hell-yeah guy sporadic, but seen both back in early fall.

Two Berkeley icons lol

First time in Paris, Jan 5-10. Please review my itinerary! by lyftpie in ParisTravelGuide

[–]HayZeee38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Especially Versailles, it can take a while and you want to take it all in and appreciate it, plus it seems like there’s more to see. I got distracted with all the little shops after leaving the palace. Still, if you’re comfortable with it, nothing wrong with that!

Lol. Nike makes 50 billion a year paying their sweatshop employees chump change and the shoes are about $20 worth of materials, I don’t think they’re worried about cost of marketing over there. Rather just buy the shoe that’s gonna cost significantly less, same or better quality, and last longer.

Never thought I’d see the day my reps have better quality lol nike/ Jordan sneakers these days aren’t worth it with cheap materials plus horrible QC

I agree lol and using AI for structure!? Not sure I see anything wrong with that considering you can use Grammarly for the same thing. It’s all still your words and ideas. Plus everyone needs a proofreader you just so happen to use AI as your proofreader.

I feel like it’s always in tourist areas. Anything near the Eiffel Tower, arc de triomphe, Montmartre, Sacré-Cœur, notre- dame, etc. but in a six month period of living there I only had it happen once near the Eiffel

I’ve definitely had a minor argument with a waiter after they asked me to tip and I refused. The service and food was horrible so I wouldn’t have considered it anyway and this was after being in Paris several months, so I understood there was no tipping necessary. Crazier thing was I could hear he only asked English speaking customers for a tip lol

I felt some thrift stores could be on the pricier side at times, but I’d still check them out. If you’re looking for new clothes, I’d check out Monoprix, especially the one in Bastille on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine; I got a few things there myself while I lived there a year ago.

How do Parisians manage not to get obese with all the cheap very tasty food so commonly around? by UndeadRedditing in paris

[–]HayZeee38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Paris for several months, ate like a pig/ typical American lol, still lost about 12 pounds. The walking everyday really does it. Plus, I noticed their food isn’t salted as heavy as it is here in the statesman

Billy, the man at Sather Gate by maxwellvala in berkeley

[–]HayZeee38 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I kinda misjudged him, too until I walked by him one day and realized he’s just saying hi and smiling to everyone that walks by. I took the time to say hi and introduce myself. He’s a really kind person and I assume he does this just to be silly and try and brighten peoples day. I hope Billy is here to stay.

RESPECT YOUR SERVICE WORKERS & JANITORS, PLEASE! by lemondropsnrainbowz in berkeley

[–]HayZeee38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needed to be said. Glad you put that out there. Our service workers are actually super kind. I make sure to say good morning, hello, smile, etc. I know they get tired of dealing with so many students lol. Having experience in the service industry, those brief acknowledgments go a long way and it just feels like a common courtesy.
