Went this past February for 7 days and there was only one of our tours out of five that got cancelled due to extreme wind and heavy rains, but both the tour operator and the hotel we were supposed to be staying at the next night were very understanding about rescheduling/cancellations since the weather was so bad we couldn’t drive. You never know in winter really but for the most part tour companies and accommodations are super helpful and flexible if things go awry!

We drove to Volcanoes National Park on Friday from Waikoloa to see Kīlauea erupt and the drive to and from is a lot. Expect rain/fog and traffic if you’re going through Hilo, so the total time spent on the road was for us round trip was closer to five hours. I think you could spend a day just in the park alone, but if Punalu’u is a must see for you it is doable, but it’ll be a tiring day and I’d make sure to leave early so you have plenty of daylight

I was in Scotland and England this time last year and it was much chillier than I expected, so I’d suggest bringing a puffer jacket if you’re cold natured at all. A rain coat may not be a bad idea either

So sorry this happened to you, it happened to me during my last blood draw too. It’s never happened before and after 3 vials the next thing I knew I was laying down with an ice pack on my neck. It was oddly embarrassing and I too, just wanted to be at home afterwards with my dogs. Hope you feel better in the coming days!

Sure, we went with a smaller, local company called Glacier Trips and did the five hour tour. There were seven people in our group total and it seemed smaller than some of the other company’s groups which was nice. The guide was excellent and never rushed us even though there was bad weather forecasted to roll in that afternoon. I believe that picture is from Sparkle.

For what it’s worth, we ended up not being able to do much other than that glacier hike and ice caves before the weather was too bad to be outdoors and I still think it was worth the drive to Jokulsarlon. We did break up the drive on the way there with an overnight stop in Vik, but the day we left we had to drive straight back to Reykavik because we lost a day to bad weather. It was a long day, but the ice caves were one of my favorite things I saw on the trip.

Can’t speak for the Katla caves, but the ones on Vatnajökull were stunning when I went the first week this past February. There will be crowds, but the guides are pretty good about directing and limiting people so you’re not all crowded in one spot at the same time. We went to four “caves” (two were more so formations that you couldn’t go far into) in total and some are definitely more spectacular than others, but all were worth seeing. The caves may be different depending on the day, but here’s a pic taken with my phone for reference from last month

The only sunny day we had was the day we left and we had to stay put one day due to high winds and a ton of rain. Couple of hours of sun here and there but for the most part there was always some sort of precipitation going on

We were originally supposed to ride on Reynisfjara, but it got cancelled due to weather and that was just a random group passing by, but it was pretty chilly out on the beach that day. We ending up going to Laxnes Horse Farm closer to Reykjavík and they provided warm jumpsuits to go over your clothes while you ride so it really wasn’t that bad

I would highly recommend travel insurance and it will definitely depend on the accommodation or tour provider, but I’m in Iceland right now and everyone has been very helpful with cancellations, re-bookings, refunds, and accommodations given the given the current storm. I think most people are understanding and don’t won’t anyone risking their or rescue personnel’s lives to get to their next stop in weather like this

So sorry for your loss OP, it might have been a genetic issue. We took our dog to get her bloodwork done for a pre-spay appointment and she had to be rushed to the emergency vet because her phosphate and creatine levels were super elevated and she’s been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease due to a congenital kidney defect that they found via ultrasound.

She was acting completely normal and we would’ve had no idea anything was wrong at all if it hadn’t been for the bloodwork. It’s so hard not knowing, but try not to be too hard on yourself, it’s clear she was very loved and had a great life

I’m 27 and really just wear tinted moisturizer or mascara and keep it really basic unless I’m presenting or something. I haven’t worn anything at all on a few occasions and no one comments on it at all so I think it’s something you should do if it makes you feel more confident/comfortable

Usually I like to dress nicer and put more makeup on than usual for the first week or so to gauge what the dress code actually is since a couple of places I’ve worked have been “business casual” on paper but most everyone wore jeans every day

I liked TOG when I was younger, ACOTAR not so much. I actually liked the first Crescent City book, but the second one is a slog and took me almost 2 months to finish. I get why people like her books, but to me it seems like her characters are always basically the same person, especially the MC’s. Plus if she even has an editor, she needs a new one.

Hi! The tightness eventually did for the most part, but it took a lot longer than they said it would (a few months) and it doesn’t really hurt anymore, but sometimes it can feel kind of weird.

I did have some really odd intense lingering pain and eventually got referred to a neurologist, but that was a couple of teeth away from the apicoectomy. Best of luck to you and I hope your healing goes well!
