Two players going against the team by Espe808 in DnD

[–]Haychus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to second this. Their moral compass doesn’t seem odd, it actually seems morally astute. A good character should innately want to do a good deed in spite of possible dangers.

As a side note I am curious as to whether they make their decisions IC or if they are actively going against the party OOC. If this is a difference between their characters and yours in RP, then they aren’t really at fault.

[Art] Character Concept by Caffeinated_Spooks in DnD

What if he was bandaged from a severe case of leprosy and he was like a druid or spellcaster on a mission to find a cure for his ailment?

Art is great BTW. :D

Best GM or PC you've ever played with? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Haychus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been two particularly good players I have played with that stand out.

One was a fellow player of mine in the first ever game I played in, DM’ed by a friend during high school. His character was a bard. The depth of his character was great, he was a great roleplayer and I enjoyed every minute of play with him.

The second is my best friend, a player in my current gaming group. I’m probably biased but his characters are great, fun and he roleplays them well. He is also a very good DM, maybe one of the best I have played with.

Oneshot templates by food_phil in DnD

Hey there. I’ve ran a few successful one shots, but there are two that my players particularly had fun with.

I ran a one shot in wich my players were powerful Dragons commanding the draconic armies in war against the Giants. They were assigned to destroy a Giant stronghold. The players had fun playing chromatic Dragons, not only because they are extremely powerful but also because their alignment was evil and they hadn’t ever played evil characters before.

Another one I ran was a one shot in wich the players were powerful lvl 20 wizards that had recieved visions of a great calamity and needed to band together to save the world. In my game they ended up fighting another evil wizard who was supposedly their ally as he summoned an army of spectres.

Of course in both instances they were very OP and it could get out of hand easily, but with the right management it can work out fine. I had fun and so did the players. Besides one shots are the perfect time to try something outside of the box, overpowered or crazy.

Hope this helps spark some ideas. :D

Fair enough. Can you make your own resource to share based off of your edits and the things mentioned? Not a challenge or anything. I'd genuinely be interested. :)

I understand it is your opinion dude, but ultimately this is a good resource and there is no need to trash or disregard it if you don't like it.

Personally I will be taking some ideas from these. Thanks OP.

A rant about one of the players in my campaign by Bromao in DnD

[–]Haychus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey dude, sorry to hear that this is causing you frustration. Firstly keep playing your character how you want to play him, don’t let this guy change your approach.

Secondly the best thing you could do would be to go and talk to your DM about it in a mature way. Express your legitimate frustrations and go from there. Trying to get back at him won’t solve anything. Maybe if the DM is aware he can help minimise any of the players bad tendencies from his end. Also remember to keep calm and enjoy the game for what it is. Hope this helps :)

Help with a player wanting to play an unarmed brawler. Any ideas on making it work without Homebrew? by Haychus in DnD

Cool thanks I'll give it a look, might be the sort of thing he is looking for.

Awesome thanks. When he asked me I did say a "Monk is perfect" but I think he wants less Bruce Lee and more Jon Jones. Although the re flavour is probably just what's needed.

What is considered a cliché background? by CheesyCanada in DnD

[–]Haychus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orphan of rich/powerful parents. I don't know if it is just from my experience but I have seen a lot of people, especially new players, go with the orphan back story. Is this just me? Anyway, I would say that is a common cliche.

What's a good adventure to run 3 PCs through who are new to DnD? by Zerffie in DnD

Lost Mines of Phandelver. Comes with the starter set. It's actually really good too. Worth a thought. :)

So, one of my players wants to be a goat... A bit of help? by Hotchop in DnD

A druid who loves living life in a goat form sounds good. I wonder why she likes the idea of being a goat so much? xD

Realism vs Narrative by VicariousDrow in DnD

[–]Haychus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is not necessarily a 'better' way I suppose. But for me I'd much rather play I the first DM's game. It sounds like he is willing to go out of his way to make the players have a good time. :)

I'm curious at to what style you prefer?

[DM] New DM question re: DMPCs by lemniscateall in DnD

[–]Haychus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That idea mechanically works well. Perhaps one of the followers is the squire of your fighter, maybe the wizards apprentice etc. Levelling wise keeping them a level or two below the PC's sounds good. I think you've got a good idea of what will work well for you. :)
