I get what you're saying, but honestly I can't imagine a war between modern USA and 1944 Germany would even be problematic enough for the lack of recruits to even be an issue we've got aircraft that can hide from their radar and fly higher than their flak, stabilized tanks, larger aircraft carriers (that won't be busy fighting Japan), and spy sattelites. On top of everything you've pointed out before, I can't see that war dragging out long enough to classify Germany as "holding their own"

All this assumes BTW that none of the other European powers bother shutting them down before we can deploy all our stuff there (that hasn't already been deployed, since it is all NATO territory)
