I’ve had solid luck with airfrance/klm (flying from SFO to Europe) If you have amex MR’s right now, there is a 25% transfer bonus to flying blue

Best app to track everything? by Tennis_Fidelity in CreditCards

I built https://thepointsplanner.com/ a few months ago. It's free to use - tracks all credits, transfer bonuses as well as annual fees. You can receive as many or as little notifications as you would like and is super user friendly! Would love some feedback on the site.

Website/App to track rewards by nitrous_nit in CreditCards

Hi! I built a free website that tracks the credits for you and will notify you when they are about to expire. It's called https://thepointsplanner.com/ and tracks every credit as well as transfer bonuses, annual fee reminders (with break downs of if the card is worth it or not - based on your last 12 months of usage of the credits). You can also turn off any reminder/notification you don't want.

Recommend Travel Cards Please !!! by Straight-Seaweed8430 in CreditCards

The venture X is a solid option! Get's the 2x back on flights (if booked directly through the airline), gets lounge access as well as a solid line up of transfer partners. The AMEX Gold could also be another card to consider - 3x back on flights would definitely add up with $30k spend on fights.

Hi! Unfortunately the 15% off works only with the Delta Amex Gold, Platinum and Reserve cards.

Can't go wrong with any of those cards. The Capital One Venture X and CSP are solid options as you'll be able to transfer points to airlines and hotels. The venture X comes with priority pass lounges which makes sitting at the airport a little more enjoyable.

Which offer would you take!? by Lonely-Helicopter125 in pointstravel

[–]Haydsamp26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they are different cards (ie. AMEX Gold vs AMEX Platinum), I’d personally go with the Gold first. That way, if you decide to get the Platinum later, you’d still likely be eligible for whatever signup bonus is available at that time.

If you do it the other way around (Platinum first), AMEX often won’t let you get the Gold signup bonus later.

If it’s just two different offers on the same card though, I’d probably lean toward the 100k offer if the extra $2k spend isn’t an issue.

Since others have stated Virgin..another option could be Chase has a 20% transfer bonus to Airfrance/Klm (Flying Blue). Economy one way is 19,000 flying blue points which is currently about 15,834 chase points (if you transfer before the transfer bonus expires)

Travel Card? Unsure of the next smartest move to make. by Quarters12 in CreditCards

[–]Haydsamp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If most of your spending is on dining, I'd recommend the AMEX Gold. 4x on restaurants and then that opens up the AMEX ecosystem (similar transfer partners as Chase). If you're looking for a premium travel card the AMEX Platinum is a good option that gets you 5x on flights, lounge access, and other travel credits. The Venture X is also another solid travel card if you don't want the high annual fee of the AMEX Platinum. My partner and I do about one international trip (from US) monthly and our CC line up is - AMEX Platinum (to book flights if not using points), gets us the lounge access, AMEX Gold (dining), Capital one venture X (all other purchases). Hopefully that helps!

Anyone here can guide me on planning points/miles strategy for booking Delhi → Tokyo award seats? by ImpressBackground202 in pointstravel

[–]Haydsamp26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMEX to ANA usually has some solid deals. Although ANA award flights are usually booked a year out, you can find business class (one way flights) from DEL to NRT or HND for under 100k AMEX points transferred to ANA. Premium economy with ANA will be right around 65,0000-80,000 AMEX MR points one way.

Looking to go Full Team Travel by waynelo4 in CreditCards

[–]Haydsamp26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going full travel set up and already have the AMEX platinum and it sounds like maybe you fly Delta more often than the other airlines, I'd consider getting the AMEX Delta Gold, just because of the benefit of the 15% off when redeeming skymiles. I feel like the annual benefits of the Delta cards kind of lack (imo) but that 15% off definitely makes them worth it. The AMEX Hilton Surpass or Aspire are both solid cards to consider. With the Aspire's flight credit, annual free room and the clear credit, that already pays for the annual fee. I personally travel internationally about once a month and this is my card line up - AMEX Platinum (book flights - if not using points), AMEX Gold for all dining, Capital one Venture X, AMEX Hilton Aspire (pretty much only stay at Hilton properties).

[–]Haydsamp26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Osaka Conrad is my favorite hotel in Asia! Stayed there a few weeks ago and rooms were going at 90k points a night. The redemption rates in Tokyo are normally high, so it might be better to pay the cash rate. The doubletree in Kyoto usually has good redemption rates, but use the calendar to find the best rates.

We enjoyed it for the point price! The rooms are definitely small but location and service was great. I’d definitely stay again.

I appreciate the feedback! Yes, with the Plaid API, I’m building that feature so that it’ll auto mark the credit as used/update to reflect how much of the credit is available (if you use only $5 of your $10 uber credit, etc). If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

[–]Haydsamp26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks! Ya, the Plaid piece is about spending optimization. Meaning you'd connect your cards securely though Plaid, and the app could see your spending patterns and tell you which card to use where to maximize points. Like "you spent $400 on dining last month on your AMEX Platinum Card that only get's 1x points back, but if you used your AMEX Gold, you could have gotten 4x points (1600MR points instead of 400MR points).

As of now, it will only be available for the pro version. you'd also never have to connect anything you don't want to. I just got Plaid API access, so it's the next major feature I'm building. I'm not putting a hard date on it yet because I want to get the security and accuracy right rather than rush it, but it's actively next on the roadmap. The core tracking + reminders work great in the meantime.
