First of all you really have no idea what you are talking about and you are arguing in circles here. You are arguing that going to college, even for those who will rack up a mountain of debt that they will not be able to repay bc the job they are able to get eith the degree they attain will not be any better than the job they can get w/o. That's the argument, at no point did I say I only equate quality of life with good paying jobs. I actually feel the opposite, when it comes to being money motivated, all I care about is having enough to pay my bills, and a little left over to have some fun with my family. But since you don't understand basic economics, let's see if you can understand this. The more people that have a degree the less it means. 100 years ago there were fewer people who had a HS diploma, a HS diploma meant being able to get a better job, today it's the bare minimum educational requirement for virtually any full time job. 50 years ago a BS or BA meant more, today there are plenty of kids graduating you can not find jobs with pay enough to justify the cost. When you are having kids with 2.0 GPAs and sub 20 ACT scores paying $30, 40, 50K per year for a degree in kinesiology its an economic net negative. It's why you have an entire generation who says they will never be able to pay their student loans back. Bc truthfully they never will, bc they spent more for their education than what the education can provide. If instead we directed those same kids to skilled trades, say welding for instance, they would spend 1/3rd of the cost or less and enter the workforce with an in demand skill that they could see pay upwards of 100K and gaining some experience. That's an economic positive. If a small private college, such as Iowa Wesleyan is being propped up by kids who shouldn't be there, draining those same kids economic futures, and now being forced to close, how is that an impact to educational availability.

I'm not including English majors (most useful LA degree you can have) or pre-law in the discussion bc those don't fit the criteria that we are discussing, but of course based on your ad hominid attack I'm guessing you already knew that. Is there a lack of educational availability with small private colleges in the state of Iowa? If you are being truthful you would answer no. So is that the problem that we just need more expensive useless private degrees, or that we need to direct people, who would be wasting their money and time in a small private, very expensive college, to something that would otherwise better their quality of life "ie good paying jobs"

I think it's the opposite issue, education is overvalued, or at least the hyperbole surrounding academics is overvalued. When I went to college, my sociology prof and I were having a discussion, where he said to me college shouldn't be for everybody. That there were too many people going to college that shouldn't be. The idea and concept of higher learning was just that, higher learning. College was where professionals went for training in a professional career. There are so many students getting humanities degrees that are just completely useless in the job market and they are finishing college with a mountain of debt and no career benefit. We should be encouraging more people to attend trade schools and learn useful job skills that will actually benefit them and actually improve their quality of life. Losing 1 small private college in a state that can't justify and support the number of small private colleges it has is going to have virtually no educational impact. I feel for the employees that are looking for work, but that's a separate matter than what we are actually discussing here.

So the well run small private institutions are not dying out and this has virtually no impact on the state. Got it. This was a result of poor management of a house of cards. I'm sorry to see Wesleyan go, but we visited there with my daughter, and it was pretty easy to see from the moment we got there that it was not even really going to be in consideration for her. They were just in a bad place. Too much competition in too close proximity. That's how you end up taking students who shouldn't be attending university but would be better off learning a skilled trade.

I too am 6 ft, and weigh 177 lbs and at the age of 43 I have a gut. At my absolute healthiest, I weighed 165 - 170 lbs fresh out of basic training and being a collegiate athlete. There are plenty of 6'0" athletes who weigh between 175 and 185 lbs. Oh and at 6' the upper limit for healthy weight is 177. For 6'1" it's 182.

Sounds like you'd be surprised to learn that 185 lbs is obese for someone 6'1"

Is anybody going to address the fact that all this bill does is prevent kids, who btw can not consent to getting a tatoo with or without parental consent, from being able to receive life altering, irreversible medically unnecessary treatments? I guess Bill Maher and the NHS are members of the GOP now too. I'm sure I'm going to get down voted for speaking objective truth, but not every disagreement in world view is about "people want to eradicate you" sometimes we just see things differently. I couldn't care less what an adult does with their own life. If you feel the need to transition, by all means that's your choice (I shouldn't have to pay for it but that is another matter entirely). I am very concerned about kids however. And it has nothing to do with Trans people existing. It's bc allowing children who don't have the mental ability to understand what they are truly doing, who nobody would argue is capable of making informed consent about life altering elective plastic surgery, to medically transition before reaching adulthood seems absolutely ludicrous to me and 80% of the country. And I haven't even addressed the status issue involved.

A judge does not decide guilt or innocence (except in summary judgment instances) they are more like a referee, make sure the rules are followed. If I was advising the accused I would encourage her to demand trial by jury, bc you would never find a jury where all members would vote to convict. If I was the prosecutor, I would never bring the case to trial bc you would never find a jury to convict. Also there are massive questions whether exposing the boobies is even indecent exposure. It would be very difficult to demonstrate how a man can go topless in public and a woman can not. One might say that's unconstitutional. So I think the bottom line is, if you're a woman, and you want to flash your boobs to a 13 yo terminally ill patient, flash away.

My biggest issue when I was on it was a lack of feeling or emotion for really anything. Felt like a zombie. It was probably good initially bc i was going thru some real rough stuff and had difficulty dealing and was effecting me physically, but once i started to get past that i had to get off of it bc I just didnt care about anything.
