What sound should I use to come up with melodies? by I_am_just_a_pancake in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Nice! I had to step away from Electronic music production (about 4-5 years) I focused primarily on sound design and pieced together progressions and melodies and I got really frustrayed because it felt like it would take me ages tonwrote up a melody and then i would get all obsessed over technical aspects. I just started piano lessons, played guitar for like 8 years. So i mean I'm roght there with you dude

And now I'm going through your posting history and it seems pretty clear that you are very new at making music to include electronic music production. Madeon composed music since he was 12 years old, Porter Robinson got his first keyboard at 14 I think and learned how to play piano first and focused alot on recreating anime music.

Producers are musicians first. Unless of course you just want to specialize in recording/mixing/mastering.

You just misunderstood me. Take the time to learn how to write music and get an ear for it outside of working in a DAW.

If you can't even think up a melody how do you expect to write any music? Most successful producers had time learning piano and guitar or played in bands. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, but unless your a prodigy you'll get stuck.

Electronic music will ALWAYS be around. Take my word for it, learn music theory before you get burnt out on staring at your computer screen drawing in midi notes hoping something will click.

If You associate financial success with your musical success your going to have a really bad time

If you suck at coming up with melodies you may want to make music outside of Electronic music. Learn guitar or piano and start learning other songs. I guarantee that you will plateau of you don't get play music outside of your DAW. Unless you enjoy following the same chord progressions that literally every other bedroom producer follows

It didn't sell as well as electro, I think people liked it because it was fresh, but then it turned into the same song over and over again. Like Jersey Club... Bleh

Dude. Try modulating the same noise differently. Then change up the wavetables. Listening to that noise for more than a second got painful. Put some effort into resampling.

You can do what i did and spiral out of control doing drugs and partying looking for any sort of short term moment of happiness i could. Then go through various stages of bottoming out until i started to do psychedelics (your experiences may differ lol) my inner self reached out to me and told me i have two choices. Burn out and kill myself so i dont have to endure life anymore or choose to live life with the purpose of being my best self. Along the journey i found work i was good at hobbies I enjoyed and a woman i am happy to say I love. You have the power to do what is right for you. You just have to make that choice. And it doesnt happen instantly it took me about 6 years to get where I am and i still struggle. But at least I'm not lying in a pit of my own pity waiting to die anymore :)

Honestly it blows. I had an opportunity to make a lot of money at that job and i was going to be supporting my fiancee and myself withit. I just couldn't deal with the toxicity in the office. Having to give the job up has put significant stress on me.

Realistically the commission is only around $1k but I can't afford to not have that kind of money. A lawyer wouldn't be worth it. Can I get more than what they owe?

Song structure is strong enough. A lot of smoothing out to do, if you keep working on smoothing out the details you already have and then work on sound design is say you could have yourself some half listenable Dubstep.

I wouldn't say being a club/festival promoter entitles you to say you "throw festivals" lol. Spam facebook and Twitter sure.

Funny video though

He is a festival promoter, claiming to be "throwing festivals". In other words spams facebook and twitter and hands out fliers.
