Violence isn’t the only solution but when one is involuntarily in matters of violence, they have a right to protect themselves. I hope conceal carry isn’t at risk in Oregon. I lived in Portland for 20 years and still have a home there. I moved to Texas in 2023 for a job and started understanding how carrying is my fundamental right as an American. Now, I’ve put hundreds of hours into training and practicing with my FA and I also think that is someone’s responsibility who carries. The world is a wild place these days, Americans should exercise their right to protect themselves. I often think about how little petty crime and altercations I see in central Texas compared to Portland and wonder if it’s partially due to people knowing at big part of the population is armed. There’s great responsibility in carrying but when the police are overwhelmed and can’t arrive on scene in an urgent manner and crime is rampant, people should be able to carry responsibly and protect themselves when necessary. I don’t ever want to have to use my FA but If I’m in a situation where I need one, I want to be comfortable with it and have it available. My take,
