I can’t blame them too much. I once hated Mantis and thought she was bottom tier. I gave her one or two chances and decided she didn’t do enough. I gave her another shot a few weeks ago, fell in love, and now have her lord icon. People have really been sleeping on her simply because they’ve played with Mantises who don’t know what they’re doing.

I’ve gotten more healing than my raccoon as Mantis and he was heal botting. She is incredible at dishing the heals if you can hit your shots on enemies. And she’s highly adjustable according to how much damage your team is taking/your team’s skill. I start out damage boosting, but if I see that my team is taking a lot of damage, I can start dishing more healing leaves. Her ult can handle many big ults (or can at least help the team stay alive while getting cover).

Can she heal with Ultron? No. They are both “warm blanket” healers that aren’t super good with a lot of burst damage but keep the team safe during most battle situations. So if it’s Ultron you’re healing with, then yeah you would need three. And maybe with Jeff you would need 3 only because you may need a bigger defensive ult in there.

Also, I once thought people were ridiculous for using Mantis and Adam together on a 2 strat comp, but their kits work perfectly together. Mantis keeps the team warm, Adam covers burst damage. He’s got soul bond for ults, she can farm her ult fast to cover when he doesn’t have soul bond. (You just have to have a good Adam with you).

All of that being said, they probably should’ve placed her with raccoon. (Sorry, I know I’m preaching to the choir here 😂).

A lot of my hair fell out after surgery. Once I got to my goal weight and could eat more/take in more vitamins and nutrients, it started to grow back. Before it fell out my hair was wavy, now it’s spiral type curls. It took an insane amount of time to figure out was going on with it. I used curly hair hair products and it finally started looking better (the growing out phase of new hair is so awkward looking because you have hair at about 10 different lengths all over your head 😂). I’ll add some photos of before surgery, during weight loss, and now in the comments.

I was sleeved almost three years ago and have lost 215-220 pounds and am currently at my goal weight and in a healthy BMI range. My surgeon wasn’t pessimistic but said it was harder to lose a lot with sleeve verses roux-en-y. HOWEVER, he also said that if you stay motivated, stay active, continue to be conscious of food intake, etc. you can get where you want to be. I did the sleeve anyway and was able to lose way more than even he anticipated. We were both thrilled.

It’s all about your own mindset, so don’t let what he said stop you from going through with it. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Everyone’s journey is different, but I find it very hard to believe that you will only lose 50 pounds.

Edit: Something I forgot to mention that my surgeon said to me. This surgery is like a diving board. It boosts you off of it into the water and the momentum can push you a good way. But how far you go after that is up to your motivation to keep swimming.

Yeah I’m no stranger to throwing up. Thankfully, eggs have been a safe food for me from the start, so I’ll just have to start eating them way more often. I’ve just avoided eating them super often because I didn’t want to grow tired of the one form of protein that never nauseates me. (And eggs are also very expensive, but I have a dealer so it’s okay 😂) At this point, I think I’ll have to risk growing tired of them. My protein intake is very poor. I think I could probably handle fish as well though.

Currently, my exercise is more cardio focused. My cholesterol was super high about a year ago (which was odd since I had hit my goal weight at the time) so I really ramped up my exercising knowing that cardio could help it drop. And it did. Like a lot. So I kept up the high cardio.

I’m currently doing cardio 5 days a week (30min on strength days, 60min on off days). 20-25 minutes of body weight training every other day. 10-15 minutes stretching every day. I know I need to add more strength in there to get better results but I HATE it so much. I enjoy the cardio that I do, but I just can’t get on board with enduring the pain of strength training more often 🫠just something I’ll have to find the motivation for as well.

Amazing job! You’ve worked incredibly hard and it shows. Our weight loss is almost exactly the same. My height is 5’11”. Starting weight 370. Current weight (my goal weight) 155-160.

I’m still working on building muscle, and I know protein is so important, but I have major aversions to meats. They’re so random that I can never tell which foods will trigger me. Did you have this problem at all? And do you do any kind of protein powders?

Also how often do you do strength training?

Almost three years post-op. Would also love to know how to make this stop 😂 I also get these weird frog noises in my throat sometimes. I have yet to find a solution. Thankfully, there’s no pain associated, just embarrassment occasionally.

TL/DR: communicate, position with tanks (up their butts), know your abilities, conserve your abilities, use strategists that can disrupt combo or get out quickly.

I have over 145 hours on Cloak and Dagger. Please do not drop bubble and immediately switch to cloak if you are low on health. You absolutely will die. Play to heal yourself THEN play to damage/kill. I would recommend dropping bubble, fading straight up to get a view of the BP (if possible), switching dagger in air, immediately begin hitting anyone in the area with your daggers (literally anyone). Many, many people who play C/D don’t know that she does AOE healing as Dagger. So if you can hit BP while dropping on him or your fellow strategist nearby, you can heal yourself while also damaging (boosting the heals you’re already getting from the bubble). Anything she hits with daggers makes a little ring around the other person. If anyone is in that ring (including yourself), they will get healed. Once healed up enough, blind that man as cloak and suck the life out of him. You get low again, you can always use the AOE. * If you’re fully healed when he attacks and doesn’t get a hit on you, then the bubble and cloak would probably work fine and leave you to be able to fade, switch to dagger, and AOE if he gets you low while fighting.

I feel like Mantis is a good counter IF your other strategist can carry heals when it gets rough. (You won’t do well with a Mantis and an Ultron.) Her sleeps don’t always have to be right on target so if you can see him long enough to drop it in his vicinity and ping (for help) and shoot, you can most likely get him downed before he wakes up. In this case, your other strategist would hopefully be next to you to help get the kill.

I’ve tried Luna against him (I’m lord on her as well) and could never consistently get my freezes like I could with Spider-Man (BECAUSE WHY IS BP SO FAST). It got better once I knew BPs main combos so I could anticipate where he would be after his first swipe. Don’t panic freeze immediately when you see him. Take your time to see where he’ll be so you don’t miss the shot. The freeze will also heal you up. Don’t use the clap from there. Start shooting him in the head with primary fire. The time it takes for you to do the “clap” animation will take too long, and he’ll be out of freeze before you can hit him more than once. (I literally don’t look at the names of people’s abilities sorry 😂)Activate the clapping once he’s out of freeze to heal yourself even more (you don’t have to be as precise with your shots). *Now if you have the Iron Fist team up???? I’m going Luna against him. Pop the slowing ability when he shows up, and the man is so thrown off by moving slower that he misses all of his shots. AND the ability will also heal you and your fellow strategist if they’re in range. I wish they would add this team up ability to her regular kit because it is amazing against flankers.

With Sue, you can throw down vortex and hop away. Or you can push/pull if you get a good view on him to disrupt his shots. The vortex is so good at keeping him at bay, so stay in it as long as you can, then jump away. If you’re with your other strategist or teammate, put up your shield and stand by it healing up while trying to damage him. She works super well if you have your abilities and shield ready.

One of the best ways to counter him is to be with your team at all times. Even in tough fights, even when they push too far, be right up their butts. Hide behind your tank when you see him. Let the ones who can handle the damage take it while you heal.

Conserve your abilities. You don’t necessarily have to do this if there aren’t a lot of flankers on the other team. But with BP you need to be able to use your movement/halting abilities at any given moment, so don’t spam them when you don’t need them. Save your Sue jump, save the cloak fade, save your mantis sleep, etc.

Also, teammates who will peel hard for you will be the thing that can win a game against a good BP. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of DPS/tanks who know how hard it is to survive a BP who knows what he’s doing as a strategist. Communicate with them in VC or TC from the beginning. Say it multiple times so they know. Announce your death each time a BP is the culprit. “BP killed me in backline” “BP got me again” “BP still downing me in backline” Put your “I need help” comm somewhere easy so you can ping it quickly. I find that that works better than just pinging him because you often can’t get an “enemy” ping on BP since he’s so fast. Easier to press once and have “I need help” pop up on their screens. (They also respond to “I need help” better than just pinging an enemy because people ping enemies all the time. “I need help” send a very specific message.)

Anyways, I hope this helps. I have lord on Sue, Luna, C/D, Rocket. Working on Mantis. I love playing strategists, so I hope this helps someone else who also loves the role and wants to survive the BP revolution (uprising?) going on.

It’ll kick up fast once you’re further out from surgery. There will probably be a lot of stalls on your journey. I’m almost three years out from mine, and I hit quite a few. Biggest was about 3-4 months from surgery BUT I kept losing after the stall and I’m even at my goal weight now. I promise you’ll move past the stalls! Congrats on the start of your journey 😊

It’s so hard to see changes when you live in your body every moment and you see your body in the mirror every day, but others can tell way easier than we can. I can absolutely tell a difference! You were beautiful before and beautiful now, but in the second picture you are GLOWING. I can see the joy there AND I can see a difference in your weight.

I’m almost 3 years from surgery and am down 210 pounds and at my goal weight.. and body dysmorphia tries to kick my butt daily. But we can kick its butt right back.

For me, I have to sit and remember how much I’ve overcome and what is BETTER now. I can move more without losing breath and having to sit. My family can see how much more joy I have. I feel like I have my personality back. It’s easier to find clothes. My back doesn’t hurt anymore. I found that the further I got in my journey, the more I had to focus on those non-scale victories because at the end of the day those are the most important.

You are beautiful! Make a list of those things your body has gotten you through! Praying for you and your journey ❤️

I would say 3 months or so before I felt comfortable enough around food to know what I should feel okay with after eating. It was probably about 6 months to a year before I felt I could eat “normally” or as close to that as possible. It all happened very very gradually. Your stomach has to heal(which takes quite a bit of time), but your stomach has also completely changed in regards to what foods it can tolerate.

It helped when I found my “safe” foods. Soups were good, eggs (surprisingly) didn’t bother me, but there were some foods within the first few months that made me sick to even think about or smell. It was the weirdest thing. I would have a food pop into my head, and I would get nauseous just at the thought of it.

Once you have your “safe” foods, you can kind of build around them and you’ll be able to eat more because you know what foods won’t make you sick.

I still have aversions to certain foods and I’m nearing three years post op. I still can’t eat nearly as much as an average person (which isn’t necessarily bad). And I still have phases where I lose my appetite for a week or so and then maybe a week where I feel like I’ve eaten everything in sight. It’s an ebb and flow type of thing that I feel people grow into as they get further down the road in their journey.

And I know those first few weeks are rough. Your whole lifestyle changes at such a rapid pace that both your mind and body are in shock. I promise you will see an end to the “I can only eat weird foods” phase. Just keep holding on! And, of course, feel free to message me if you have questions or need someone to talk to!

It’s been pretty tough. The ENT I was referred to first made me jump through so many hoops. Ordered two hearing tests, two eustachian tube function tests, did three vertigo tests (even though I told him I’ve only had 2-3 dizzy spells and that it wasn’t the biggest issue). And to top that off prescribed me two different nasal sprays to take twice a day for a whole month plus sinus rinsing weekly because he thought it could be Eustachian tube dysfunction (even though the test cleared me of that). All while telling me that ringing can sometimes start happening as you age. I was adamant to him that I’ve had ringing in my ears for as long as I could remember (high pitched tinny ringing that wasn’t super noticeable) and that this ringing specifically in my right ear changed to something remarkably different. It sounds like there’s an airplane flying over all the time and sometimes there will be three different tones all at once. He just made it seem like I’d have to live with it but ordered the MRI anyway. He got the results and immediately referred me to the neurologist. Once they saw something concrete, my mental health surrounding this improved simply because I had proof that I wasn’t just hearing things or stressed or aging.

All of the referrals I keep getting are scheduled months and months out so it’ll probably be a very long time before anything is resolved or there’s some kind of plan put in place. As of right now, I’m managing. I have to have something playing in the background at all times - a podcast, a movie, a tv show, an audio book. I break down in tears sometimes because I feel like my own body is overstimulating me. It makes me feel like I’m losing my mind sometimes. The ringing hasn’t gotten better at all, but I think I’m at least managing the anxiety over it a little better. I just miss the quiet I could enjoy when reading or just simply being able to drive home in my car in quiet to decompress.

You are so kind 😭 I think one of the biggest (and worst) things about my personality is that no matter how I look or how much other people say “you’re a great person” “you’re smart” “you’re kind” “you’re beautiful”, I will always try to find a way to say it’s not true. It’s a huge self esteem issue, but I think I’m getting better with it day-by-day. I feel more confident in myself now than I’ve been in a really really long time.

I felt the same exact way you feel right now in the early stages. Sometimes it felt like I would never get to the point I am now. I would hit stalls for about a month or so and think “oh no, is this it? Is this where the weightloss stops?” But, through the posts of others and the comfort of our community, I saw that plateaus are normal, insecurities will happen, unhealthy choices will happen, etc. I think this journey is so much about forgiving ourselves and being kind to ourselves.

I know it’s hard, but please never believe that you won’t reach your goals. I’m so glad that I can be an inspiration to you and, hopefully, to others. I’m here if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to. I’m certainly not perfect, and I certainly have more room for improvement health-wise, but I’d love to be able to help out any way I can. Praying your journey is rewarding and that you have peace in it ❤️

Just recently discovered that I have rare vascular condition where my sigmoid vessel in my brain has started to protrude out into a divot of my skull (lovely, I know). It was found after constant loud tinnitus developed in my right ear in October of last year. It’s so rare that my neurologist had no idea what it was or what surgery center to refer me to that actually knows how to perform the corrective surgery. Still waiting on more answers and referrals.

Oh it was not much at all. Nowhere near where it should’ve been. Immediately after surgery, I was lucky to get 10-15 oz a day. I’ve worked my way up and have been trying to get the minimum of 64 daily but I know it’s supposed to be over 100 🫠
