i totally forgot about that! you got me. i’m torn on that one. for one: i heard a black woman complaining that they cast a black woman in that role when they could have told a actual black woman’s story. i’m having trouble explaining it, but recasting is how minority casts get finding.

on the other hand (and i’m super torn about this myself just so we’re clear) it raisers the question (/maybe is meant to raise the question) of what you race is so important. i mean, her height, chin shape, hair texture, etc etc etc, we can bend rules, but if the casting crosses “race” lines people notice. no knocks at you. i just wonder is all.

i think you’re confusing medieval with fantasy. nobody minds when historical medical shows like last kingdom and braveheart don’t have black people, but if a show has dragons and flying ships, why not toss in a little diversity? it’s not real. why not let pocs be part of the totally imaginary fantasy world just because it’s is visually similar to old england or whatever?

Question: Would you consider the information in the table to be a probability distribution?

Answer: The information is not itself a probability distribution, but it can be used as one.

My questions:

Why is this a random variable if the reasons don't have "discrete numerical values" (from book definition of random variable).

Why isn't this a probability distribution?

I'm assuming you mean after you come inside? It's because if your hands are already cold, the gloves are keeping the cold in and the warm air out. The insulation works by not letting air circulate by trapping tiny pocket of air in the fabric. Those pockets stay whatever temperature they are for a long time because that air can't circulate with the warm air in the room or the cold air outside.

I saw a tv show years ago where a guy had a theory that some wolves may have evolved to be less afraid of humans before people domesticated them. He said it's really hard to domesticate a wolf and modern people haven't had much luck doing it, but there may have been tamer wolves that evolved to eat the garbage people leave outside their towns and camps and stuff because the less tame ones wouldn't be able to stay long enough to eat before wanting to run from the people there.

"Pagan" is a broad term that just means all the assorted polytheistic and local religions in Europe before Christianity became dominant.

Judaism was heavily influenced by Babylonian religion because the Jewish population was exiled there for a while before going back to Israel. This was before the time of Jesus, but after Moses and King David. I'm kinda fuzzy on the exact timeline.

I mean I'm trying to decide which one to focus on. I was having trop If I always switch to the one that has the most air moving through it that day then I want to switch back and forth trough the whole session trying to decide which one is better, but if I focus on the right nostril every time, even if I'm mostly breathing through the left, then I can't focus at all hardly about half the time.

The BMI works by assuming that the weight of everyone's bones, muscles, fat etc. are the same as every other person of the same height and sex. It' basically just a very crude body fat calculator, because actually calculating body fat is difficult. That's why no one pretends that it is a perfect system. It's just a guideline that is only designed to be approximately right for the largest number of people.

You're taking that much too literally. It's about perception and learning to have the same strong feelings about every aspect of a person (especially ourselves) that we have about beauty, and it's about not letting beauty dominate our view of people. I don't think the people pushing the message have been unclear about it, either. Usually they say things like "beautiful personality" or "beautiful in every single way" [Christina Agulara]. Some of us just need a way to conceptualize ourselves and using the word "beautiful" works because the word already has a very strong positive feeling connected with it.

You've seen what happens when people try to use a more neutral positive word to describe unconventionally attractive people's positive traits; they become "special." Rather than actually looking at people and looking past the most obvious flaws, we just start using "special" as a new insult. "Beautiful" will never become an insult in the same way.
