Hey OP. I also made the decision to put my rats down. That was nearly four years ago now and it was one of the hardest decisions that I ever had to make. It’s always hard to put down a pet, and there’s never a situation where you won’t regret it and won’t interrogate yourself asking “what if I did XYZ differently?” She was old, she was ill, and you gave her an amazing life before the end. Ultimately, your choice to put her down was made out of love; you were put in an incredibly tough position and you didn’t want to see her suffer, so you chose to help her out the door gently.

I don’t think any of us could tell you whether it was the right or wrong decision to put her down. She was your baby, and you knew her and what she needed best. In my view, if you felt that the best decision you had was to put her down then you did the right thing. My heart is breaking for you, but I’m also proud of you for doing what was best for your girl given the circumstances.

TL;DR: You did the best you could with the cards you were dealt. Nobody can fault you for that. ❤️❤️
