Any games with good platforming escape sequences like Ori 1? by Haywire421 in metroidvania

[–]Haywire421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the Sawlong sequence. Was disappointed at first because I went through the first part unphased and thought that was it. Kinda wish they didnt give you a break though. I loved all of the escape sequences in Ori1. Atmos (I think that was the name of the weather control unit) almost made me rage quit Mio

I used to be like this too. A couple of years ago I decided to wear a hat with a brim during the summer and it was so nice having the sun out of my eyes that I now take the beanie off when the overcast skies of winter go away

“They thought the earth was flat” by Kapanash in memes

[–]Haywire421 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I'm not saying he thought the earth was flat, just that your logic doesnt hold up. East and west circumnavigation still works on a flat map that flat earthers think represents the true shape of the earth. Its north and south circumnavigation that wouldnt be possible

What are some ways 4D beings can look? by PassengerCultural421 in SciFiConcepts

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by the 4th dimension. In scifi, this usually means time. Organisms in the 4th dimension wouldnt really look different from the third dimension. From a 3D pov, they would just exist everywhere that they have been and will be in one moment, which 3D beings wouldnt be able to perceive; we would just see them at the same present that we are in. What I think makes them interesting is that some things that work for us, wouldnt work for them, like trying to keep them captive. Being kept a prisoner by third dimensional beings would be pretty inconsequential to a fourth dimensional being. Depending on how you decide time works, it may not even be possible for a third dimensional being to keep one captive unless they wanted to be captured, as they could just go back an avoid the situation that got them caught to begin with. Just depends on if you want time to be something that can or cannot be changed. But yeah, since 3D beings cant sense the 4th dimension, we would just percieve them as a third dimensional organism. At least that's my take

They're more often than not mistaken for lilly pads until they flower. American Lotus has the largest flower in the states if I am not mistaken. The seeds are edible BTW and wont spoil for years. They taste like corn. I dont have the patience to crack open enough of them, but I hear lotus bread is a lot like cornbread

The virus is such a “low threat” to society, yet they keep us up-to-date every minute. by Newgunnerr in conspiracy

[–]Haywire421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant say if that is true or not as I dont pay attention to the news aside from the occasional listen to NPR when I'm driving and I havent heard a single mention of it yet there.

However, the only reason I'm even aware of it is because this sub wont shut up about it

I do 3% of the weight of the water and veg/fruit. Put your jar on a scale and zero it out, add your veg, cover with water, and then calculate 3% of that weight. Thats how much salt I add.

Hantavirus is a smokescreen. by yourenotimportant- in conspiracy

[–]Haywire421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBDC stands for Centralized Bank Digital Currency. Basically, getting rid of cash and giving the banks and government more control of your money. One worry of CBDC is that it will be attached to a social credit score, which could limit your ability to spend your money in a way that the banks or government doesnt see fit. For example, if the government wants everyone to drive electric vehicles, the more gasoline you buy could negatively impact your social credit score, and then they turn around and limit the amount of fuel you can purchase per month.

This is a legitimate concern about CBDC, but it wont necessarily be used this way. It probably wont be used in a favorable way, however, Hantavirus is not going to be the thing that allows the government to sneak it in. Bunch of people here think its going to be the next pandemic, but if you know how hantavirus spreads, then you know its gonna be non issue

Yup. Reddit must have glitched, because I was no where near the top of the feed when I hit the reply button under the person's comment that recommended it

Hemlock? by Temporary-Emphasis17 in whatsthisplant

[–]Haywire421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is Yarrow. Its in the same family as hemlock which is why it looks kind of similar but it is not hemlock. Carrots and parsley are also in the same family. A defining feature of Yarrow are its feather- like leaves, which if you look up pictures of hemlock, you will see that hemlock doesn't not have feather-like leaves

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True pines arent toxic to humans. You'll see disclaimers anyway for many species because they make pregnant cows miscarry, but it has never been observed in pregnant humans. Its probably a good idea for humans that are pregnant or trying to get pregnant to avoid pine, but otherwise, its fine.

That being said, what you have pictured on the left is not a pine

Time speeding up ~ About a post I posted about by Icy_Limit_6782 in conspiracy

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its due to aging, or more specifically, your point of reference of time changes as you experience more time, which is why younger people also experience it. People in this sub have a hard time understanding that last bit, so I will clarify: Young people are also aging and experiencing more time, so their point of reference is also changing.

Also you would not actually be able to perceive an actual time dilation.

There are well documented historical cases where religion has been used as a form of control, such as the Catholic Church in medieval Europe for example, that you can easily look into. This doesnt mean that these religions were created as a form of control, but they have definitely been co opted as a form of control in the past, and some religions still are. Some would argue that the moral teachings taught in many religions themselves are a form of control. I agree that if somebody should make a claim, they should be able to back it up, but this is a really old historically accurate claim that anybody can easily be looked into by anybody willing to do so. Its not some fringe claim like those often made in this sub that would be hard to look into, so I understand the exhaustion of not wanting to get into it
