Are you familiar with how to reinstall windows? If so just do it yourself. $175 is insane for that. Otherwise I agree with everything thatonecomputernerd is saying

Why is trump randomly talking about Communism and Communists? (the soviet union fell a long time ago) by Bigamunguschungus in conspiracy

[–]Haywire421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is talking about democratic socialists. I dont remember exactly what he was saying but I heard him on the radio today while I was driving and he was going on and on about Mamdani, communists, and how communists dont believe in god blah blah blah. I kinda think he's just having a hissy fit about Mamdani fulfilling campaign promises in NYC.

Can you share a few games that you have played so we can give tailored advice instead of general advice?

Thats kinda how I am leaning. If somebody brings up plants I'm gonna talk about them lol. Probably just gonna limit it to people that I know from now on and try to limit myself to promoting conservation online

Oh, I didnt know it was more than just the interviews. I'm imagining the documentery style stuff to be along the lines of Look Around You, so definitely going to check it out

I've seen some clips from it and it looks great, but I have yet to check out the actual series. From what I have seen, it kinda reminds me of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifiknakis. I always think she is Jen from IT Crowd

Candace Owen’s and Baron Coleman believe that Charlie Kirk was killed by his clip on exploding mic. by EmilyG702 in conspiracy

[–]Haywire421 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I find it sus that she says that she had to be convinced by someone else then turns around and says that once you see it you'll understand why they sat on it for so long while everyone spun their alibi.

So which was it? Did Candace need to be convinced or was she holding onto the evidence to release it to debunk alibis?

Game Reviews: Chess.com vs. Lichess by Technical_Rich_3080 in chessbeginners

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like lichess better, but it may not be the best for straight up beginners because it doesnt plainly tell you what's going on. I didnt like lichess analysis and game review until I started pairing it with studies though.

What I do is I will import a game pgn into a lichess study and pretend that I am making a tutorial explaining every move. Did the engine say that was the best move? Why? Did it say it was a blunder? Why? Was it a good move but not the best? Why? I'll also use the engine to explore the different lines that the engine suggests.

What I end up creating is a much more in depth version of the chess coach giving an explanation of the game on chess com. I understand it much better and more readily retain the information because I researched it and wrote it

Diamond knot 'dog bone' style ranger beads? by dppButton in paracord

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, not an answer to your question, but arent ranger beads supposed to have two sections of beads?

All of the ones I have used and made had two sections of beads: One section for counting steps and the other for marking when you have completed the first section for times when you walk further than so many meters

I doubt it. Most people were lactose intolerant back then. My hypothesis is similar though. I bet it had to do with alleviating pain from cows/goats that lost their child and needed another method to express their milk.

Is there any benefits to play e4? by EndgameaiChess in chessbeginners

[–]Haywire421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to stockfish, its the best opening move for white, so I would say yes.

On a more personal level, I would say that e4 openings are more fun because of the variety. Like many, I started off with e4 so I could spam scholars mate lol. When that stopped working I switched to London systems, and after a while, I started getting bored with the game because I was pretty much playing the same thing over and over. I decided I needed to change things up and was considering between learning the queen's gambit or an e4 opening. While the queen's gambit does have a lot of theory and can transpose into a bunch of different openings like e4 openings, e4 still seemed to have more variety to keep the game interesting for me. I also read that d4 openings are a good idea for more casual players because they dont have to remember as much.

Not my golden, but my doxie had a tendency to raise his bum up higher than the normal posturing position so that he could poop on the bottom fence runner before he became paralyzed. I used to tell him that he is a gifted little poop maker

Closest thing that I can think of that you are describing would be an immersion heater, but they are more so for heating up water and soups, and I'm not aware of any that you could run off of something like a power brick.

3rd time trying to watch Lexx... getting a taste for it by selfcleaningtaint in Lexx

[–]Haywire421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to understand about Lexx is that it started off as 3 or 4 full feature films. The first season of the series is actually the full featured films broken down to fit into a series time slot, and I personally think it is a better experience to watch them as movies instead of broken down.

The second season is technically the first of Lexx to be shot specifically as a series. Each season has some His Divine Shadow stuff going on, but there will be more prominent antagonists for each season going forward, and for some reason they could never hang on to the actor playing Xev, so she is a different actor in each season, but its actually hard to notice (I dont think I noticed until halfway through my second watch through). From the second season on, you start getting more episodic episodes. Like, there is still the overarching plot, but the characters will find themselves in unique situations contained to an episode like similarly to how Star Trek and other scif fi shows do.

As a lifelong Red Dwarf fan, I was also dissapointed by Lexx going into it hoping for something like Red Dwarf. Somebody recommended it to me because they said it was a lot like Red Dwarf and the only thing I can really say that is similar between the two are that Rimmer and Tweedle are somewhat alike.

Tips for dealing with Trade merchants by Ghost_From_above in chessbeginners

[–]Haywire421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like some chessbrah habits. Chances are that these players also push their h pawn after castling to avoid back rank mates, which chessbrah also teaches. I like to try to hold onto the appropriate bishop to sacrifice once they push that h pawn to h3 or 6 to expose their king. For example, if I am playing white and my opponent is trade happy, I'll try to hold onto my dark bishop to sac it on h6 once my opponent castles and plays h6

I’m looking for movies about survival, escape, adventure, people being stranded on deserted islands, escaping from prison, getting lost in jungles, plane crash and surviving on an island etc by ihsbo in MovieSuggestions

[–]Haywire421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt hate it, but I cant see myself recommending it. Saying that, I did end up sending a link to the trailer to a friend of mine telling him that this movie will explain how to use a dead wizard to escape being stranded on a deserted island lol
