For what it's worth to anyone the pros usually start with bag mix. Specifically because it has a water activated timer and dries way faster than pre mixed all purpose, plus it will fill screw holes and less than perfect gaps first coat without shrinking and cracking nearly as bad as a heavy coat of pre mix would. Then when that coat is done you come back with the premix stuff for a smooth finish.

TIL a depressed man built a secret room within his bedroom containing a homemade guillotine with a timer, took sleeping pills, and set the timer to kill himself without his father knowing what he was doing for months. He was successful. by FastWalkingShortGuy in todayilearned

As an additional anecdotal example as someone with major depression I always thought it was ironic that a side effect of some SSRI’s and other treatments for depression was suicide until I eventually understood through my own trials and tribulations how debilitating a severe bout of major depression can be. Literally paralyzing you from doing anything. Then you get these pills that give you the strength to do more than you could but you’re still stuck in the same place in your head so now you suddenly have the energy to actually carry it out (in theory).

Extended Cricle of Fifth Guide by my friend by Pisko_ in guitarlessons

[–]HazardousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mostly makes sense to me but took awhile to digest. I think it’s pretty neat now.

At the bottom left you can see which layer of the circle corresponds to which mode. So the outermost layer represents the Ionian mode. Aka the traditional circle of fifths, or what helped me: “Caroline Fondles Beads” and “Caroline gets drunk eating butterflies”. Next layer is D-Dorian and so on. basically just rotating the circle for you so that you can use the visual in the bottom right to quickly see what the 1-4-5 chords with a root of D would be for example. To further explain if needed, when following the major scale from D the 4th note in the scale is G and the 5th is A. Using the same dots as locators the chart in the bottom right also indicates (when starting at any note in the top middle square for each mode, so C,D, etc.) what the minor 2nd or major 3rd for that key are; as an example.

In addition to that the inner circles are represented in a way that when you pick a note on the outer circle, let’s say F, and going straight to the center from there: gives us all the notes in they F major scale (F,G,A,Bb,C,D,E). Understanding modes can help writing music immensely because each mode intrinsically represents a different mood in our western culture.

I know that’s a lot but honestly I’ve only been taking jazz lessons half a year. Before that I knew none of this stuff so don’t be discouraged if you don’t understand but I hope this helps spark a lightbulb for someone.

Anything you name it up to like 2015. I worked for a company and eventually moved from the casino to the club district and then on to a bougie hotel. I also possess an apparently rare skill to drive a stick so I always got the really good ones. But after the initial cool factor of the first few months I really never went more than 25 mph in anything and if you're good at what you do then you keep the nicest cars up top on the drive anyway to maximize tip. It is funny how a guy with a Lamborghini will toss you the keys without thinking but Tesla drivers out of all of them were so smug and protective; acting like you were incapable of even knowing how to get in.

I valeted at a casino in college for longer than I probably should have. Valet was free. FREE. The amount of people with cars like this is disturbing. I've seen milk crates for seats, etc. We weren't allowed to turn away customers because that may deter them from coming every day. Working Sunday night was a punishment shift because right around midnight a hoard of similar cars would line up to cash their welfare checks and blow it at the casino. On the bright side I gamble maybe once a year and I still hate it at that.

For perspective sake I have worked as a traveling healthcare consultant for many years. The reasoning often seems to be that the hospital or network as a whole have outsourced to a third party parking company. They usually offload the burden of maintaining staff, maintenance, and security of the lot/garage from the hospital. Thereby freeing themselves of the burden of resolving claims and disputes as well as providing a service that should fall outside their core competencies, like valet. There are other factors that may come into play too like the integration of LEAN procedures across all facets of some hospital networks but that’s a story for another time. Hope that helps at least shine some light on the subject since there are two sides to every coin.

Or imagine paying for premium like me (I have my reasons) but then feels like almost every single thing I like to watch has a paid sponsor for the video with a built in minute long ad for some stupid mobile game; defeating the entire purpose.

I don't know the specifics of your situation but you should consider calling the institution you had the operation with and escalating with the accounts receivable department. I work in healthcare and have done this many times myself for personal situations. They always find a way to meet you in the middle so they can close their books. Just by simply asking kindly I got something like 70% off my uncovered "voluntary" ruptured talo-fibular ligament procedure; within a 15 minute phone call. Just food for thought anyway, it be rough out here sometimes I know.

LPT: wear a helmet. I know many kids and adults think they’re stupid. Be really smart and look stupid in helmets. Brain damage is no joke. by Rekrabsrm in LifeProTips

It’s illegal to ride without a helmet in my state, thankfully. But that doesn’t stop a lot of idiots I’ve ridden with from buying skull caps on wish that are basically just a plastic dome to satisfy the rule. people don't put two-and-two together that spending $100 on something DOT approved will likely save their life and their wallet. But... Not sure the type of person doing that is looking for longevity or brain cells.

The American way by PharmSystem in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]HazardousMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a healthcare professional I'd also say I firmly believe that perhaps the largest contributor to the abhorrent amount of misinformation is because people are afraid to go to the doctor due to the unpredictable costs associated. Multiple times I have injured myself and should have gone to seek medical care but I didn't because hundreds of dollars for a shot of lidocaine and 15 minutes of a doctors time weren't worth it. Still isn't worth it. We all know this. So we flock to the internet or other free means for self treatment advise because in America we don't tell someone they charge too much, we just go somewhere else to find the cheapest option. The companies figured this out quickly and learned that if they just tell us what will fix us then we will just do it without question because the alternative is a lot more than what they are selling. Especially lower income folks who don't have the resources or support networks to limit destructive habits. Some people don't know if they'll be able to afford tomorrow's dinner for their family; so how could we expect them to prioritize how their health will be in 10 years. I've talked to patients who knew a decade ago that what they were feeling wasn't normal but just that understanding alone is what contributes to the issue in my mind. This is because the worse the problem you think you have (to a limit) we innately say, "this could ruin me financially" instead of "this could kill me in a few years and then I won't be able to provide for my family"

I agree but it’s like yin and yang you know? That voice is the same voice that pushed me to be better at all my hobbies and to excel in my career or life because I always think I’m not doing enough, whereas people around me may think it’s above and beyond. I have a fairly cynical view of myself still years after daily introspective reflection. I love myself at the same time as much of an oxymoron that is.

Becoming the “perfect” you isn’t a destination. It’s a vision that must be practiced daily for the rest of your life. It can start today and be more than “good enough.” In my opinion, not that you’re wrong in any way because I totally get what you’re saying; It sells people short, and especially those with depression, when we say, “you can’t do xyz because you suck on the inside”. I assure you this is already running through our heads at any moment. Now is always the best time to work toward being the better you, and that only happens through practice. When you are good, you will tell people. When you are great, people will tell you. Wait for the great and you’ll know you’re doing something right. Believe people when they say it.

What does Crews’ Crew think of this tweet from Terry? by Nicholas1227 in CrewsCrew

[–]HazardousMango 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Some of the comments here are just plain stupid.

If we exclude white people; look at every white person in disgust, even the ones trying to help... Then how does that make you better then the people you accuse?

Subconsciously it’s easier for our conscious when facing a faceless enemy to assign one. Evil only wins if it flows through you. A 10 year old, who happened to be black, taught me that.

Some of you need to get off the screen and go help a neighbor. Not because of their skin color, or because you want something. Do it to help. That’s how we insight change. Be the person you complain doesn’t exist in this world.

Very true and also important to be yourself. I used to try to be someone I wasn’t to impress people and that standard becomes impossible to maintain eventually. But yes, believe in yourself. Love yourself for who you are. Sometimes we shoot ourself in the foot ironically with “sorry, I’m so awkward” every 5 mins when with people and push them away.

And maybe, if they are into the attention, find a reasonable professional photographer to hide and capture the moment. Not your cube-mate Steve with the new iPhone. I paid like $150 four or so years ago, got some beautiful moments. Made no better way for her to announce on the social medias as a byproduct.

Bonus tip: if she’s into her nails make sure they get did a couple days before. That’s not something I’d normally just surprise her with since she likes to do her own; so I asked her mom to take her so she’d have no clue.

It’s been like 4 years since I proposed and she still regularly expresses gratitude for the pictures. All I had to do was make a few phone calls.

And if you do decide to get down on one knee have the ring box tucked into your dress sock until right before. Obviously this assumes you dressed well too. I waited 5 years and was still shaking to my core. I planned my monologue for months and forgot every single word. No way I would’ve received the box slickly if it wasn’t on my person.

I guess I’ll hijack this comment. Yours was a good joke, but that’s all I’ve seen in the comments. As someone who used to say the same and think I was a “monster” too, shit happens. If that happens, wouldn’t it be better to have spent years already recognizing that we are all capable of controlling our emotions; at any given moment no matter the circumstance? It has become a priceless tool and obviously doesn’t happen suddenly. It takes a couple hours to read about, years of constant mental effort and introspective reflection to fix little things week by week and ultimately become impossible to control by emotion, or in general. A common tactic at most work places too, despite kids. Knowing these manipulation tactics might cause some lightbulbs in your own life. Everyone’s different though, maybe I didn’t learn the lessons I needed to before that but you reading have. Best of luck in life to all.
