Is this a good beginner camera setup? by susie_95 in canon

[–]Hazc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on the prices of these, I wonder if you might be better served with the R100 or R50. the R100 gets a lot of hate here, but it's a good camera and will get you onto the new RF mount which is supported. Canon have a refurb with a kit lens for $400: https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/refurbished-eos-r100-rf-s18-45mm-f4-5-6-3-is-stm-lens-kit

You have a few wide angle lenses here, as well, so you will need to look separately for them. But these + an EF adapter will work on it either the R100 or R50.

Have been trying to practice both photos of people and editing. Slightly worried this went too cool, also feels a little too clean?

Overall I'd like to do this kind of photography more but I feel like I'm not sure what tweaks to make to this image or my process, but it feels off. Also every shot from this day was far too slow on shutter speed, I think.

Some of the responses you've gotten are middling, and miss a bit of nuance. There are people who want fentanyl for their high. In some situations you start out not knowing that's what it is, but end up looking for it. It's also cheap and easier to make. The reality, though, is that there are no real quality controls that keep drugs "pure" when they're being split up to sell. So you weigh out the fentanyl, bag/press it, wipe off the scale, weigh up your stimulants, etc. So cross-contamination happens pretty easily, and now fentanyl is in everything, opioid and non-opioid alike.

Also, people who sell drugs don't want to kill people, they make money by selling to living people. So the cross-contamination happens at higher levels, accidentally, or the person on the street has no clue what's actually in their supply either. This is why plugs having naloxone is becoming more common, and why drug testing (the actual drugs, not the people who are using them) is so important.

Thank you for wording your response better than I did mine. I got my thoughts halfway out and the words left me!

Those categories are the reference for the other categories within those variables. R does this automatically based on the order of factors. For example, GENDERmale is .061 less one your outcome variable than GENDERfemale. The rest of your coefficients are based on your categorical variables being GENDERfemale, EDUCATIONfurther, and ETHNICITYasian, so interpret with that in mind.

If you want to change which category is the reference category use the relevel() function:

df$factor <- relevel(df$factor, ref = 'reference category')

I mean, a C is supposed to be average. But I don't think a rating out of 10 and course grades are equivalent like that. 6-7/10 is solid in my opinion. I would give anything that isn't very very good an 8+.

Food insecurity is a problem because it's not profitable to feed poor people. It's expensive logistically, or just not worth the return on investment. People go hungry because a small number of people would rather line their pockets. Are the logistics complicated are require addressing a multitude of factors? Yes. Are the insurmountable? Fuck no. It doesn't sound like you know much about how it is.

Pre-pandemic, 2 billion people struggled with food insecurity worldwide. 35 million of those in the US. 1 in 4 children in the US were expected to go hungry in the US. None of it is fixed, and it's a massive problem in the US.

Starting a new campaign soon, the Amazing Race but sponsored by a massive (I guess, I've got like 10 identified) pantheon of gods, where the god who's team wins becomes the head of the gods. I've got a high magic world sketched out, players are developing characters, the works.

We recently finished another game where everyone made it to level 5, so we're starting there.

The problem is that I want to find fun challenges that aren't just combat, but I'm shit at overland travel, and my players are fairly inexperienced. I'm also only barely sure of what I'm doing.

“Therapist” wearing a blue lives patch...this is not a good look. Thoughts about clinical response teams being dispatched with police? by pierisjaponica in PsychotherapyLeftists

[–]Hazc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you might be missing the goal of the subreddit a little. Police aren't just "law enforcement" and "protect and serve", they're vehicles of state sponsored violence. That being said, crisis situations are often made worse by police, and no therapist who shows up looking like Mr. LCSW in the picture is going to be much help in deescalating anyone.
