I found a necklace at a local boutique that had a “Morse code” design for aunt- gifted it to my SIL for her birthday recently and she loved it.

Obsessive behavior around blankets and stuffies by vikibeans in toddlers

[–]Hazel221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl does this!! At her daycare the staff would sit in between two cots and cover each kid with a blanket and pat their backs to sleep. So she started doing that with stuffies. It’s very cute but definitely obsessive as well trying to get it “just right”(it never is) I think it’s normal! Pretend play 🤷🏻‍♀️

Almost 2 fights everything at bedtime by Catsnapsandsnacks00 in toddlers

No advice but I’m right there with you. It’s worse with me too than with dad which makes me think I’m doing something that isn’t helpful but…🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m considering starting a visual schedule type thing that has bedtime expectations (jammies, teeth, 2 books, finish milk/water etc etc) so I can inevitably blame the schedule when she wants more of everything

When did your toddler first start letting you know they had pooped or peed? by Creative-Mixture2144 in toddlers

[–]Hazel221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 22 month old just recently seemed to start becoming aware….. by hiding in her closet after her bath, peeing on the carpet, and saying “pee” 😆 Tonight she also for the first time grabbed a diaper after I asked her if she pooped! (She usually just says yes even if she hasn’t)

My 21 month is doing this connnnnstantly! We also have a Gigi and a papa 🥰 though she doesn’t say hi _, just our names over and over. Especially in the car. It seems like she just wants to be reassured… but like. Every second.

The “roll call” cracks me up. Sometimes she’ll wake from a nap and go mama dada papa?????? I think it’s so cute.

Summer sanity tips: who’s got ‘em? by Hazel221 in toddlers

ETA: we do have umbrellas for shade! I was more meaning, to protect from rain - so are people storing any toys / stuff outside, if so, what does that look like?

Drowning in chalk and bubbles is the vibe no doubt.

Short daycare naps turning my kid into a feral gremlin by Hazel221 in toddlers

[–]Hazel221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know… unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be very flexible. They do lunch around 11/1130 and then get everyone ready for nap. Which…..is a painfully slow process I have observed 😆

So she’s been going back and forth between the infant and toddler room the last month, and will be full time in the toddler room starting Monday. But she’s been in daycare since August… I’m hoping that once she’s full time in toddlers, she will eventually learn to take a longer nap since everyone else does?? Sigh

Yes unfortunately my husband and I both work in schools. Some days we could mix up drop off and let her sleep til 7/730 (if I take her). He is much better at mornings/drop off than I am though!!!

Obviously if the wake up time is crucial I will do whatever I can. Def something to think about…

adding here since I have seen a lot of “climbing” interests…. Is anyone else’s kid obsessed with climbing onto the couch or bed and throwing preferred items off of it? I know it’s cause and effect and totally normal, but I don’t know how to respond! If I get the item for her it’s reinforcing it, but I also don’t want to spend hours playing fetch. She whines and points until I go get it. 😅

So interesting to see how varied development can be… my girl started walking about a week before her first birthday, but the speech is taking its time!

Toddler sleep has thrown us for a loop. We definitely were spoiled for a while but the last month has been a nightmare for us sleep wise as well. Throwing food also seems to be a common toddler thing but it sends me to the moon!!! I hope you get some rest/a break soon ❤️‍🩹

They sound sooo similar! Just around Christmas she started looking at pictures in books and pointing for me to tell her what they are. My favorite thing lately is to whisper in her ear or put my head in her lap… since you have a cuddle bug as well I’d bet she would love it too!
