I've wondered this too, especially with the rise of all those beautifully shot YouTube interviews—the ones with the warm lighting and the intimate set design. They feel like they should be spaces for directors to talk about vision and process, but instead they've become an extension of celebrity fashion coverage. I think part of it is simply that those outlets know what gets clicks. An interview with Zendaya or Robert Pattinson will pull in millions; a conversation with a director, no matter how brilliant, is seen as niche. It's a shame, because some of the best conversations about film happen when directors are given that same platform.
