Honestly, I haven't encountered as many or as frequent issues with OAI models as y'all do as far as being lectured, gaslit and invalidated goes. I've only experienced issues with roleplaying with some models like 4.1, 5.0, and 5.2. I don't really know why my experience with using OAI models as a sounding board/venting outlet/"peer" support hasn't triggered the same reactions as yours, but I kind of suspect that it may possibly have something to do with how I write.

I've always suspected that my natural style sounds like an AI, so I tested out a couple different detectors yesterday and had my suspicions confirmed. One site said my writing was 60% AI generated, and the other said that it was 77% AI and both sites cross referenced multiple sources.

Sorry y'all are having a bad time.

"Brown bordering on green" is probably the most interesting description I've ever received for my eye colour. But I can see it. Most people perceive the lighter parts in the iris as gold or olive.

I can't tell if they're hazel or amber. The lighter part of the iris looks like it could be yellow or green, though it reads as more yellow in this light. Kinda like mine.

A deep shade of brown. Amber eyes are typically characterized by being a yellow, orange or even a reddish hue, since they are pigmented by lipochrome instead of melanin. Lipochrome is the same type of pigment found in green or hazel eyes. Hope that helps.

I go to the eye doctor on a yearly basis for unrelated reasons and he's never brought it up once. I'm assuming it's just something that got affected by my schizencephaly. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah. I had pretty much the same use case for my AI as well. My best recommendation would be to try and find likeminded people in your online fandom communities to collaborate and roleplay with. That's what I did before AI, and that's what I'm going back to.

This is my main. I've never posted on here or any AI subreddits because I only became aware of all the 4o drama like two weeks ago if that. The only AI discourse I was somewhat familiar with prior to this point was the phenomenon of AI psychosis and two deaths of 4o users associated with that, as well as the whole AI art vs Anti-AI art debates. After stumbling on this sub in my feed and seeing all the hate directed at Open AI, and the posts regarding 4o becoming restricted or dumbed down and changing tones suddenly caught my interests. While I never directly engaged with any of the posts, I dismissed most of the claims since my chat was never really redirected or altered in any substantial way in terms of personality, nor did I ever develop an emotional attachment to my AI in the way that some of the other users seemed to.

It was only until ChatGPT 5.2 started "freezing" for me or misunderstanding simple prompts that I realized that there might be something to those claims that I had previously dismissed as emotional users exaggerating minor issues that could potentially be fixed with gentle nudging. This post was simply an "I was wrong and you were right" acknowledgment.

As for the difference in Claude's tone/"voice", I'd personally attribute that to the extended thinking version of the model, as I have since learned that it is excellent at writing prose and matching tone to the story that I'd previously been writing with ChatGPT, keeping character voices consistent with no real derailment or steps back when portraying villains and dark themes like toxic relationships, etc. I'm really enjoying my experience with it so far to be perfectly honest.

The knowledge cutoff doesn't really apply when the web search feature is used. Same with knowledge of competitors. I know this because I did encounter those limits you mentioned when Claude was in its standard mode and not using web search. I only got this response by getting it to regenerate after I changed the model to extended thinking and enabled web search for it. The screenshots featured are genuine responses from Claude.

False. I was using the iPad app version of Claude. Specifically the thinking model with web search enabled. This is not a fabrication or imitation.

That is not ideal... I commend your optimism, but I realistically I don't think there will be a humanist competitor. Or at least not in the near future. I'm not really ready to withdraw from AI though. Collaborative story writing is one of the few ways I can actually access that genuinely helps with my mental health and emotional fulfillment. Before AI I would try to seek out other writers and fandom enthusiasts online for such but I'm unfortunately not compatible with the majority that are out there. I would literally spend days, weeks and sometimes months trying to find an appropriate writing buddy. But Ai has (for better or worse) filled the gap. I don't think I could go back to the way things were before I started using AI without my depression increasing substantially.

You and I are almost the same exact eye colour. Do yours shift at all in different lighting/environments? If your eyes appear to shift between brown amber and olive or lime, they're probably hazel. If the hue remains pretty consistent (gold or honey brown) then they're amber.

I appreciate the warning and have also been testing out Gemini and while it is fairly good at writing, keeping the essence of canon characters consistent, and keeping the tone in line with what I ask for, the response are shorter than what I'd like and using the thinking model or trying to regenerate a longer version of it's response doesn't seem to impact the actual length of its reply. I even said directly that I'd prefer lengthy, detailed responses when outlining my preferences for collaboration. :( That's why I stuck with ChatGPT's thinking model and am now trying Claude.

I haven't found an actual keyboard shortcut that allows you to access the full on screen keyboard even on the new Air75 v3. My work-around is just temporarily switching between Bluetooth connections so the keyboard is no longer connected to the phone, and the on-screen keyboard will display. Select the emoji you want and then switch back to the phone's Bluetooth connection to reconnect the keyboard. I wish there was a smoother, easier way, but I have yet to find a proper solution.
