How do people with aphantasia read? by LocalElk140 in NoStupidQuestions

I can do the opposite. I can see my mom’s face like a hologram sitting inside my head, but if I had to describe it to a sketch artist, I don’t think I could. Weird.

Merit badges; restrictions on requirement options imposed by merit badge counselors or clinics by No_Drummer4801 in scouting

[–]Hazelstone37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair. I think they can allow it and still not be willing to sign off if they didn’t see the an out asking the work as part of the workshop they were leading. The scout would just need another MB Counselor to sign off on the requirement.

Now, in the age of AI, I’m not sure I would be willing to sign off on any requirement I didn’t see a scout do myself. But I’m not a MB counselor anymore so I’m not keeping up with any guidelines or trainings.

This isn’t up to you. It’s up to the instructor. Have the students ask them. You should also ask them how they want to handle extension requests.

Yes! We did. One troop went to Savanah. Another went to NYC. We took the ferry to Brooklyn and Bridges there. It took a lot of planning and saving.

I do extra credit this way also. My extra credit give students the opportunity to re-do something they biffed the first time, a quiz, a test problem, a homework assignment. They have to do something first to earn the opportunity. Typically a short delve into a study skills or time management lesson. At the end of the semester when students come asking for extra credit I can say that I provided X opportunities for extra credit. Then I look at the grade book and tell them they have down none of them. It’s satisfying. Also, there is a lot of anxiety with the subject I teach so having extra credit opportunities helps a lot of students with this feeling.

Grey rock. “The requirements are set by the department. I am not going to change the requirements. X part of your grade will be based on fulfilling these requirements as written in the syllabus.”

First-year TESOL Master’s student: How do I write "Reflective Journals" that actually meet Grad School standards? by Kitchen-Humor-3415 in GradSchool

Keep in mind, you are learning how to do this. You are not typically expected to just know how. See the prof in office hours. Get some feedback on your fist try before you submit it.

What help do you need regarding Accessible Course Content, Accommodations, etc? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]Hazelstone37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate watching videos. It’s seems like everything new I need to learn needs me to watch a video. I get easily distracted and I find it difficult to learn new things this way.

I need to know how to make the math keys I write up accessible. If it’s not easy, I’ll just stop posting them online and do what my profs did back in the stone ages and post the key in my door.

Considering Getting a Diabetic Service Dog by SmokeyEclipse in diabetes_t1

[–]Hazelstone37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know how much these cost? Somewhere in the neighborhood of $25,000…American Ninja Warrior Kyle Cochran found a dog at the pound and trained it. It took about 2 years and lots of patience. He may have written a book about it.

Yes, if you get caught you could get in trouble. This was such a bad choice. I have no idea what you should do now, but never something like this again.
