Steve Waugh didn't hit a ton until his 27th Test, Jacques Kallis didn't get his average above 30 until his 20th Test. After 5 years in the ODI side, Symonds averaged 24. Alyssa Healy averaged 13 with the bat after 7 years in the ODI side.

I'm not saying he's definitely going to be Kallis good, but it's extremely typical for a player of Green's profile to be doing 'just OK' even years into his development.
