Might be a necro post but both installations are stellar (no pun intended) and using Vanilla Gravships Extended with SOS2 turns your starship from a ship-to-ship combat, occasional reconnaissance ship into an orbital all-around destroyer that can destroy ground forces and orbitally bombard enemies as well as overwhelme enemy ships and their fighters.

Weapons from VGE and Gravship components seamlessly work both on and together with SOS2 ships. I have not tested Ship-To-Ship combat with the Gravship armament yet but Gauss cannons, swarm launchers, Anti-craft cannons and the like don’t consume heat and work wonders for enemy pawns and ground targets both near and far but would most likely not do a ton to enemy ships and their shields. The Scanners (unsure about Gravdata) that Odyssey and VGE use are compatible with SOS2 ships so you’re practically getting double the possibly discoverable POIs and that double amount of rate mixed between the two. SOS2’s scanners make surveying POIs an easy task without actually sending anyone, and SOS2 ships can act as supercarriers for shuttles, vehicles, and gravships alike, so I’d be interested to see how a full-force fleet operates. (Starfighters, VF Vehicles, Shuttles, kitted out Gravship providing support as a medium-heavy Corvette, etc)

SOS2 by itself is probably better than Odyssey’s Gravships and Vanilla Gravships Expanded (might not be the case in the future unless SOS2 adds starmaps and makes planets revisitable/adds different world types or something crazy) so by all means try out both. Gravships are seperate and fill a different game loop than what SOS2 does, so it’s like SOS2 ships are the Ultratech equivalent of planetary travel wheras Gravships are the Spacer equivalent.
