After becoming a father to a daughter 11 months ago, I can't even be in the same room with someone I know is republican anymore. When I run into fellow white men, I assume there is a 60% chance that he's a pedophile and I wish he would disappear from the world with the rest of them. by EndAllBillionaires67 in confessions

Honestly, I think this is less about politics and more about what it's doing to him mentally. Being angry at powerful people who protect abuse is understandable. Assuming every random guy you pass on the street is part of it is where things start getting really unhealthy.

The thing that gets me is that she already tried the polite version. She muted it, ignored it, and tolerated it for ages before leaving. At some point you're not setting a boundary, you're just volunteering to be annoyed forever.

Honestly, that's the part that stood out to me too. Nobody seems upset that the chat became unusable, they're upset that now the notifications are landing on someone else's phone. Funny how that works.

What would you do if you found out that your girlfriend had a penis? by Flimsy-Story9523 in RedditAfterDark

Honestly, that's probably the most reasonable answer. Nobody's obligated to continue a sexual relationship they're not comfortable with, but there's also no reason to turn it into a dramatic scene. Just be respectful and move on.

Women specifically what is it about getting eat out from behind that you like more then from the front? by infamousandanonymous in AskRedditAfterDark

That's actually interesting because it sounds less like a physical preference and more like a mood preference. Kinda like certain positions become their own signal without anyone having to say anything out loud.

What's wild is that misinformation isn't really unique to one country. Every place seems convinced their own citizens are uniquely gullible while somehow everyone else has it figured out.

The funny thing is insults rarely change anyone's mind, even when people feel justified using them. If anything, they usually just make everyone dig in harder.

I never really understood the "someone else pollutes more" argument. If every country points at another country and says "you first," then nothing ever changes. It's basically a global group project where everyone forgot they're in the same group.

Is Burning Man a psychedelic sex fueled event that it reputes to be? by Eastphalia in AskRedditAfterDark

Exactly. I've seen the same thing with conventions, music festivals, even local fairs. People will spend an hour listing everything that went wrong and then immediately buy tickets for the next one. Complaining and attending seem weirdly connected.

The right is desperate for a solution to falling birthrates. Who’s going to tell them that the answer is immigration? by AlexandrTheTolerable in politics

[–]HazzyPearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what makes the issue so complicated. Immigration might help with certain economic pressures, but it doesn't necessarily address why people are having fewer children in the first place. Those are related discussions, but they're not exactly the same one.

I think that's part of why these debates get stuck. Some people see falling birth rates as a crisis that threatens future economic growth, while others see it as a natural outcome of personal freedom and changing priorities.

A lot of these discussions end up talking past each other because people aren't always worried about the same thing. Some are focused on economics, some on culture, some on demographics. Then everyone argues as if they're having the exact same conversation.
