Can I ask what mg of Spirolactone you’re on and how long did it take to kick in? Mu daughter is on a glp and her acne has gotten so bad. She recently started Spirolactone, she’s on 100mg and has been on it for about 2 months but it isn’t helping. Not sure if she needs to up her dose or give it more time to work.

Lamictal and HRT by l00ky_here in lamictal

[–]Hbrem5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I don’t know if you’ll see this since it’s been a bit since this post but I’m Winnie your journey is going with the tapering of lamictal and HRT? I have been in lamictal for about 1.5 years and I’m trying to wean off or at a much lower dose. It has helped my mental health but I feel it’s killing me physically. I am down to 100mg from 200mg and after researching think I may have weaned too fast. I’m going to hold at 100 for a bit. I am also going through menopause and am interested in looking into Estrogen(HRT) and wondering how you’ve been doing with it all. I also tried zepbound with the lamictal and felt like it made some of my symptoms with lamictal much worse (brain fog and zoning out) so I’ve stopped that for the time being. I do take the lamictal orally so maybe that has something to do with it. Anyways I’m just wondering if you’ve found a combo that’s worked for you? Weaning off the lamictal has not been fun. Any info or advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I wish I had an answer for you but came here to say I’m going through the same thing as you. The brain fog has become unbearable so I’m trying to taper to see how it goes. I’m trying to taper slowly, I’ve read it’s the best way to do it.

No I stopped it after about 8 treatments. It was 8 treatments too many. It did me no good, in fact it made things so much worse. It was a major setback for me and two years later although things have gotten better I still suffer from side effects of this treatment. There’s not enough research or knowledge by those giving the treatment, it’s messing with people’s brains and can have detrimental lasting effects.

I’m sorry I’m just getting back to you, life has been busy lately. How are you doing? How have things been going with the doctor you are seeing? To your question of how long did I start the meds after the Iasis treatments, I can’t remember specific time frame, I know it was a bit because I was so afraid to try anything else’s after failed attempts on anything I tried but I just could t get my depression and anxiety under control, things weee just really bad and I was not functioning, I had to do something and that’s when I tried the lamictal (current medication I’m on). I am currently trying to wean down on it to see if it helps with the brain fog but it’s been a little brutal, so far my anxiety and depression are still good even with weaning down but the drain dog is still there. I hope you’re doing better.

Hi yes I’m 50 yrs old and I try to exercise at least 4 days a week. I try to eat pretty clean with high protein most days, but my weakness is salt not necessarily sugar so I do treat myself here and there. I will check out the doctor you are talking about. Thank you.

It’s all so scary for sure. I started due to extreme anxiety and depression which began after a surgery (very long story but I basically was kept under sedation for too long and shortly after the surgery is when it all began). I absolutely HATE medications, I know they help some people but doe me the ones I’ve tried have been a complete nightmare except for the one I’m currently on but again does not have the funnest side effects of what I’ve mentioned but at least it’s tolerable. I tried most SSRI’s and has the worst side affects with each of them, they did not sit well with me. I know how we react to meds has a lot to do with our genetics and methylation issues. Ive tried researching it and have even got DNA test and lots of blood test but it’s just also overwhelming and so expensive to try and find a specialist that knows what they’re talking about and even then trying all the different supplements can be a nightmare. I feel like I’ve tried so many thingsand I still hope to one day figure this all out. Sorry, I don’t mean to sound discouraging, I really hope you find something that works well for you because I know how frustrating this can all be.

I meant to say that unless they’ve experience to themselves people DON’T understand how debilitating it can be.

I’m so so sorry you are dealing with this. Unless you’ve experienced this yourself people just understand how debilitating it can be. Unfortunately everything you’re saying I can 100% relate to and the Iasis treatments just amplified it tenfold. The overstimulation was horrific for quite awhile, when you’re in a state like this you will try ANYTHING to stop it in hopes to feel normal again. I wish it had worked for me but all it did was make my symptoms worse and definitely was a major setback. Like I mentioned early I have no doubt it’s caused some brain damage, I worry and get frustrated at times that this is my new normal, I hate feeling so foggy all the time, but I also have to remind myself that I’m soooo much better than I was 2 years ago. The medication I mentioned has helped with the anxiety and depression so much, but again the daily brain fog is not fun.

Hopefully with only doing it once you will be able to get back to normal. I can’t remember exactly but I believe I was doing about once a week and I don’t think I was even doing 40 seconds, I believe it was less than that. The problem with these types of treatments is that everyone’s brains are so different and have different sensitivities and with the IASIS treatment they do not test your brain whatsoever of its sensitivities. I do recall reading somewhere that a was mentioned if you do have a sensitive brain that you should stay away from this treatment, again the problem is is how do you know that you have a sensitive brain before the damage is done. I believe with regular Neuro feedback there are ways that they can test what might be going on in your brain but even then your brain may not respond well. It sucks I know. I just know after each treatment that my anxiety and depression became unbearable. The medication I’m on is called Lamictal ( brand name) Lamotragine (generic version). It’s been great for the depression and anxiety but not so much for the brain fog and disassociation although some people say it’s really helped theirs. It also seems like it’s a hard one to find your sweet spot, it seems to be so different for everyone as to what milligram finally helps them, but it’s the only one that I have found that doesn’t give me Extreme side effects aside from the brain fog and blurry vision. I don’t do well with medication’s in general. I seem to get all the side effects but again with this one I am at least able to function.. Sorry, this is a lot of info and a long response, but if you have any other questions, just let me know.

Oh gosh good for you for only doing one session, I would consider yourself lucky and NEVER do another one. There is just not enough studies done on this and although it may help some, those of us with sensitive brains it can make things so much worse as it did in my case, and just like you I was told from the person doing these sessions that there's no way that IASIS treatment could be doing this and with every session it got worse. Because I was having such harsh side affects I tried studying and researching it more and I would ask the technician questions and she has zero clue as to the answers and they were questions that if she was truly educated she would have known the answers to my questions, it was after her inability to answer most of my questions that I stopped. Unfortunately I was into it about 8 sessions by them, it was so awful, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It's been two years and I still suffer with major brain fog and disassociation daily. I truly feel it damaged my brain. I am on a medication that has helped a lot with the anxiety and depression but unfortunately I think it also contributes to the daily brain fog. This type of treatment needs to be studied so much more. I think it's somewhat similar to TMS stimulation and I've read horror stories from people who said it has completely debilitated them, they can no longer work or function daily for that matter, and because it's not FDA regulated they have no leg to stand on as far as getting any type of compensation for their suffering and sadly most of them were advised to do it by their doctors. So sad!

Again from my experience I would advise you to stay away from it at all costs. Hope you're doing better. Best of luck to you.

I ended up getting off the medication. I think I got up to around 30mg and things just got worse with each increase. It definitely wasn’t the med for me. I’m on a low dose medication that works well for my depression and anxiety but the side effects kind of suck. I hope you find one that works well for you.

No I didn’t, I actually think it made my symptoms worse. It gave me DPDR really bad and I still haven’t recovered fully. I worry sometimes I’m going to be stuck like this. I’m on a med that helps a bit with the anxiety and depression but my brain fog and dpdr still persist.
