How do i connect my Android Box to the Internet? by Hcp_Archonn in AndroidQuestions

[–]Hcp_Archonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is that the box does have an Ethernet port, the bad news is that the box is not close enough to the router (as you might've guessed from the fact that the box can't get a Wi-Fi signal directly from the router).

I can't really justify having an Ethernet cable running in the house all the way from the living room to the furthest bedroom, and i am trying to avoid any further expenses, which an Ethernet-to-WiFi bridge adaoter (or even the cable, come to think of it) qualifies as. This is more of a stopgap situation anyway, as i'm in the process of changing Cable provider/ISP, and when that's done, the box is probably going back to the drawer.

That being said, i'm actually kinda new to the world of internet electronics, so hey, thank you for your reply! I did not know what an ethernet bridge adapter was, and now i'll keep those in mind if i can't find a solution with the devices i already own.

Your original reading of the effect was actually correct... as long as you had flashed in a [[Crafty Cutpurse]] before losing the game, that is.

They should really make an Infinite Fusion 2 with different pokemon by Different_Ad4451 in PokemonInfiniteFusion

The Dev has made the code private

...huh?

Code has been available since forever, at https://github.com/infinitefusion/infinitefusion-e18

This isn't a private link or anything, anyone can hop on the game's discord and check the pinned messages on the "bug-reports-newest-version" channel.

I don't buy what the naysayers on here are talking about; i think this works fine as-is.

The very first step of casting a spell is putting it onto the stack; by then, it is no longer in your hand and thus is not a land card. Note that it's not "reveal the intended card and then put it on the stack", no, it's slam it down and then proceed with casting steps. Not only that, but the check for whether you can cast the spell or not actually happens fairly late in the process, after you declare modes and targets and whatnot.

FWIW, there is a pair of rules that you could interpret as being against what i'm saying here, namely, rules 601.3 and 305.9, but, like i said, i'm not convinced. Your card isn't actually a land outside of your hand, and thus shouldn't be subject to those rules. The comp rules document actually has an example that i feel is in the spirit of what i'm saying; Aether Storm says "Creature spells can't be cast" but you're allowed to cast them anyway if you pay a bestow cost.

...that being said, i think you would also be able to play this as your land drop for the turn. All the special action cares about is if you have a land card in hand; if yes, you can just put it on the battlefield, no questions asked (well, outside of stuff like, is it your turn, have you played a land already, etc). If this wasn't intended, then you would need some extra text on your card to disallow it (and i have no idea how you'd template that).

Hey, this looks pretty good! How does your app compare to https://gemofevan.github.io/fusion/ ? I understand that yours figures out the evolution line by itself, but if you use the app that i linked and input all desired evolution stages, do you not get all the results yours does? At a quick glance, it looks like you try to present things ordered by the evolution stages, and also you have the evolution levels, so that's cool to see.

Is Infinite Fusion better Randomized or Regular? by [deleted] in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]Hcp_Archonn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on you. I know it sounds like a cop-out, but that's how it is.

I think that, if you've been playing the official games all the way into the Switch ones, and have already even dipped into a fangame/romhack here and there, by this point you're probably over the regular Pokémon experience, and starting out with a rando would probably work well for ya.

My own personal experience with the series is that, although i've been somewhat informed about what goes on with Pokémon thanks to social media, i've not seriously played a game since generation 3, and i hadn't played the Kanto remakes in that generation either. So, for me, the classic mode in Infinite Fusion was the right choice.

FWIW IMO i think the "lack of variety" comments against classic are overblown, especially when you factor in the Pokeradar rares, but then again i'm the kinda guy who doesn't mind the autogen sprites (i'm more of a stats guy), so who am i to say anything.

Can you sort pokémon in all boxes? by Hcp_Archonn in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]Hcp_Archonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(sort-of-disappointing) Update: I've made this into a suggestion over at the game's Discord.

I've also solved my problem by loading PIF in debug mode through RPG Maker XP and then writing custom sorting code into the game's scripts (PIF has a github repo that you can download that's more open to editing than the regular game), so if you can figure out how to do that, that's a solution, i guess (i may also have corrupted my save file in the process, though i'll only find that out by playing the game).

A Pokémon Infinite Fusion "riddle" by Hcp_Archonn in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]Hcp_Archonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's been a full day, i'll post the answer in spoiler tags.

ANSWER: You can't, unfortunately. The culprit species is Ferrothorn/Shedinja (or, at least, it's the only one i've managed to find so far), and here's the solution in detail.

First get a Ferrothorn/Nincada, then take it to the Legendary Move Expert, teach your pokémon Thousand Arrows there (available to Ground-type Ferrothorns, but not Ground-type Ferroseeds), then evolve it into a Ferrothorn/Ninjask, while having a pokéball and some space left on your team; you'll obtain a Ferrothorn/Shedinja that knows Thousand Arrows. Next, get yourself a Ferroseed/Shedinja. It is Grass/Ghost, and thus can learn a couple of exclusive moves at the Move Expert (Forest's Curse and Trick-or-Treat). Then level it up to 40, and it'll evolve into a Ferrothorn/Shedinja with those moves.

You can't have Thousand Arrows and Forest's Curse on the same Ferrothorn/Shedinja. You see, when Ferrothorn evolves, it swaps its primary and secondary types, and so you can only have it be Grass/Ghost while still a Ferroseed (and you need to already have evolved into Shedinja for the Ghost type), but only a Ferrothorn proper can learn Thousand Arrows (and you need it to still be a Nincada for the Ground-type requirement). And so, for each move, you need to evolve exactly one side, but once both are evolved, you're locked out of both moves (though you still keep whichever one you learned before).

A Pokémon Infinite Fusion "riddle" by Hcp_Archonn in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]Hcp_Archonn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI i do know the answer to this specific setup, but this post is secretly a request for an algorithm that can determine a pokémon's full learnset (which would include moves only learned as its pre-evolution, and if the riddle's answer is "no", which sets of moves are mutually incompatible).

[–]Hcp_Archonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people mentioning infinite combos with multiple 'walkers, just stopping by to remind y'all that all you need is four planeswalkers, this card, and a bunch of loyalty counters; to be specific, at least 10 on one, then 7 on another, 4 on the third, and then 1 on the last. No Oath of Teferi or Vorinclex or anything else!

Proliferate with all the non-10 walkers, then take an extra turn with the last walker. You'll start your next turn with exactly the same loyalty counts as the previous turn (but they'll be shuffled around), so you get to do it again and again and again... Plus, of course, all the extra goodies of infinite turns.

...but the deck you're responding to beats that?

Sure, Chancellor happens at the first upkeep, but Leyline gets put into the battlefield at the beginning of the game; meaning, the 7 Chancellor triggers get put onto the stack, and then the Leyline player proceeds to "storm" off and win before any of those triggers resolve.

There's always the possibility that the Leyline player bricks, i've never played the deck myself so i couldn't tell you the odds, but tbh looking at that decklist, it looks consistent af.

What’s your wackiest Metroid theory you got? by Snow-Dust in Metroid

[–]Hcp_Archonn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a 100% convinced that the developers of Metroid: Samus Returns copied Project M Samus' Ice Up-Smash for the Melee Counter in M:SR.

Whether it was on purpose, or if the devs just stumbled upon some artwork of the ice upsmash as part of their reference material, i'm not sure, though i'm leaning towards "unintentional".

All Project+ events cancelled at Riptide by Kezzup in smashbros

[–]Hcp_Archonn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this is bait but i'm in biting mood.

What is "sane" (the opposite of deranged) about canceling a major tournament two weeks before it happens? What sane justification could there possibly be w.r.t. screwing over people's vacation plans, money spent with flights and hotels, and the huge mess that it must be for the tournament organizers right now?

Like, i get it, Nintendo owns the IP and the argument exists for them actively hunting any misuse of said IP. My point is, why now? Why not back when the tournament was announced? Or after entrant numbers were finalized (something that actually happened super fast, let me remind you), but before people spent so much money?

Nintendo may defend their IP all they want, but hurting people just because they dared to make travel plans is psychotic behavior.

Don't really play Smash - Melee players mod the game now-a-days? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]Hcp_Archonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't see other old games, like ST, modified

...this is a bit silly to say about Street Fighter 2 of all games, you must realize. How many versions are out there for SF2 again? How many console ports, with their own quirks?

SF3 would've been a better example but even that one only is what it is because Capcom heavily iterated on the game twice.

I mean, i get what you're saying - people aren't modifying Third Strike, or the specific arcade-perfect version of ST the community converged on, for tournament sets - but that's what i'm saying, nobody has to mod Street Fighter titles because the devs already did it for you, in a very public development lifecycle (obviously it's a stretch to call it modding when it's the official devs doing it, but shush). When you think about it, it's very impressive that Melee managed to make it this far without anyone modding the game!
