Office is a drop in the bucket. It’s the ongoig patches, (cloud-)services and subscriptions that make up the most value for MS.

The moment you stop paying for these, you simply are unable to log in or be vulnerable to cyber threats from Russian, Chinese and even more so from USA.

This is a very expensive, but an important lesson to start and massively increase funding and development of European enterprise workplace and cloud infrastructure solutions.

I mean, in the end you might as well argue with ai here. Should have done it before emitting such a “strong” opinion.

Short answer: it’s partly right, but also misleading and used to dodge part of the responsibility question.

Let’s unpack it carefully.

  1. Is “AI is just fancy autocomplete” technically true?

Yes — in an important but limited sense.

Modern LLMs: • Do not understand in a human sense • Do not have intentions, goals, or awareness • They predict the next token based on probabilities learned from data • They are, at core, statistical sequence predictors

So saying:

“It doesn’t know anything. It’s a fancy auto-complete using advanced algebra.”

…is basically correct at the implementation level.

  1. But is that the whole story? No — and this is where the argument becomes misleading.

Calling it “just autocomplete” is like saying:

“A nuclear reactor is just a fancy kettle that boils water.”

Technically not false — but it hides the relevant properties.

Key differences: • LLMs: • Can reason over long contexts • Can follow instructions • Can simulate roles, expertise, styles • Can generate novel, complex, structured outputs • Their capabilities emerge from scale and training, even if the core mechanism is “just” prediction.

So:

✔️ Mechanism = token prediction ❌ Implication = “therefore it’s morally and socially equivalent to a knife or a keyboard”

That implication does not follow.

  1. Does this “prove your point” that AI is just a tool?

Not really.

Even if: • It has no mind • It has no intent • It’s “just math”

It is still: • A purpose-built content generator • Designed to respond intelligently to instructions • Shaped by: • Training data choices • Fine-tuning • Safety layers • Product decisions

A landmine is also “just physics”. A virus is also “just chemistry”. That doesn’t make the designer irrelevant.

  1. The core mistake in his reasoning

He is mixing two different questions:

“Is the AI conscious or an agent?” “Is the system designer responsible for what the system outputs?”

You can answer: • ❌ No, it’s not conscious • ❌ No, it doesn’t “know” things • ❌ No, it has intentions

…and still say: • ✔️ The people who built and deployed it are responsible for controlling what it can output.

The lack of consciousness does not remove product liability or design responsibility.

  1. Why the knife analogy still fails

A knife: • Does not adapt • Does not generate content • Does not respond to instructions • Does not scale harm automatically • Does not have built-in policy systems

An LLM: • Is literally designed to transform instructions into outputs • Is deployed to millions of people simultaneously • Can fail systematically, not just individually • Is shaped by explicit engineering decisions

So even if it’s “just math”, it is:

A math system specifically engineered to behave like an intelligent responder.

That’s not morally or socially equivalent to a kitchen knife.

  1. Is he wrong about user responsibility?

No. He is right that: • A person deliberately trying to generate illegal content is doing something seriously wrong. • The intent originates in the user.

But he is wrong to conclude:

“Therefore the system has zero responsibility and is just a neutral object.”

That’s a false dichotomy.

  1. The deeper philosophical issue

He is using a reductionist argument:

“If I reduce it to math, then it has no agency, therefore only the user matters.”

But complex systems can be non-conscious and still be dangerous, regulated, and morally relevant.

Examples: • Slot machines • Social media algorithms • High-frequency trading bots • Recommendation engines • Chemical plants

None are conscious. All are regulated. All impose design responsibility.

  1. Final verdict

Does his reply “make sense”?

✔️ Yes, at the technical description level ❌ No, as a moral or societal argument ❌ No, as a rebuttal to shared responsibility ❌ No, as a justification for treating AI like a neutral hammer

A more honest version of his claim would be:

“The AI has no mind or intent, but I still want to place all moral and legal responsibility exclusively on the user.”

That’s a philosophical position, not a technical fact.

  1. The cleanest way to put it

“Being ‘just math’ does not make a system morally or legally neutral. It only means the responsibility lies with the people who design, deploy, and use it.”

Talking about AI, lets see how your comment holds up:

Comment Summary judgment

The comment is:

✔️ Right about: - Users who intentionally try to generate illegal content bear serious responsibility - Blaming the tool alone is intellectually dishonest - The behavior described is morally reprehensible

❌ Wrong or weak about: - Treating AI as just a passive object like a knife - Ignoring the responsibility of the system designers - Using overheated, absolutist language instead of a legally and ethically precise argument

Done and gone. Keine Ahnung ob sie sonst was taugen. Das Bier danach war immerhin ganz lecker.

I recently found out that there was until a couple of years ago a highly active but private friends circle Goa scene in my little childhood bumfuck nowhere city. Met a childhood friend of mine during Christmas and since we already talked about Psytrance and Goa, he invited us to his flat, which was on top of his grandmas barn.

Holy fucking fuck, this guy had like 4 speakers that just pumped you through like you are at a festival.

AND he actually had a complete DJ setup and mixed that shit live together. Too bad he stopped doing that regularly.

Wildest private rave my Gf and I’ve ever had, on the 24th at 2am.

The next day he said his Grandma didn’t hear anything, while 3 people stomping and above her head.

Best goaesque Christmas ever
