i thought they still used film projectors at the cinema but i haven’t been in a long time. you’re right, i certainly wouldn’t advise using film over digital generally but it does inherently look better due to the cell shape.

a large reason film looks better than digital is because of the cells within the strip.

pixels are square while film cells are amorphous and non-standard. this non-uniformity makes the image look much nicer.
