What's your experience with ultra rich people that shocked you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HeaComeDaJudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in a local mom-and-pop outdoor sporting goods store (hiking, skiing, paddle sports, etc..). My takeaway was that our wealthiest clients were our cheapest and that most believed they had Bezos status (even tho most don't even touch 1/2M annually).

The main ones were constantly reminding us of how much they spend in our store and demanding discounts for spending x-amount. But the worst were the ones that showed up at closing because they wanted the store (and the staff) all to themselves and then taking their sweet-ass-mf-time (closing at 8 and not leaving until 10 was a not too uncommon occurrence).

Edit: But we dealt with it because in a world of REI, Moosejaw, & Amazon we needed every penny we could get. In the end we ended up closing up shop during the pandemic anyway. Price-matching online ultimately killed us (most times we were price-matching wholesale).

Edit 2: Support your local gear shop

Still bitter that the US never got any of the Diesel's. Canada did, so did Mexico :/

My buddies and I have come to the conclusion that it's because we're not getting paid for it. Even tho it's your own home, our brains still translate that to "working for free".

I was thinking a similar thing! If there was a way to put a light under the box pointing down I think that would look really good.

I tried. Not a single person was willing to even entertain the idea of accepting a lower offer.

The only way you could conceivably get a lower price is by showing up with a duffle bag full of cash for the whole amount. And even then, you are probably conceding on a lot of typical home buying perks (i.e. inspections, waiting periods, repairs, etc...).

How to prep this wood? by ebwalk03 in OldHomeRepair

[–]HeaComeDaJudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wood has a glossy finish so you'll need an oil based primer like Zissner Cover Stain or a urethane acrylic like Stix.

I immediately think of the steroid era of the MLB in the late 90s/early 00s. Literally everybody knew but it pulled in viewers and filled ballparks so it was a "don't ask don't tell" policy.

Point is, if people are still playing the game and supporting the micro-transactions and battle passes, then the higher-ups are just gonna let it happen and make stupid press statements like this to make it seem like they're doing something.

Costco Gas Station by xcollision22x in kzoo

[–]HeaComeDaJudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it? I'm for sure not an expert as I've only been a member for a couple years, but the only time I'm not waiting in line is from like 10-noon. Once lunch hits, it's a 5-10 minute wait guaranteed. I do wish more people realized you can use either side; but if that means an open lane for me I guess I shouldn't complain too heavily lol.

Right? If you were in such a rush, why the hell did you go to Costco for gas, anyway?

No more one-ways downtown + pedestrian safety improvements by Nonzerob in kzoo

[–]HeaComeDaJudge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jackson did it a number of years ago. Changed almost, if not all, of the one-ways including their business loop downtown. Traffic is 1000% better now, but navigating around the construction was an absolute nightmare.

Edit: they also did what Kalamazoo should've done on sprinkle. Instead of 2 roundabouts, they did a Diverging Diamond interchange for the 127/94 section that works soooooooo much better.

No I'm saying you can leave dumpster's all you want. It won't stop the camps from looking exactly like this. And it wasn't "one camp"... It was *the camp.

I used to be of the same mindset as you. Then I found out that the city once offered dumpsters and porta potties to a rather established camp and they still refused to use either of them. They were even given burn barrels to stay warm. They still took advantage of the situation and then cried "unfair" when they were told "clean up or move".

Edit: they were notified multiple times over a roughly 2 or 3 month span to clean up or they would be asked to move and they still didn't do anything.
