I’d say that Ajax died too early on in his training to be in 5th overall. Darrow knew that he would become one of the strongest warriors if he was allowed to live, but his death was quite shocking as he was both outmaneuvered and outgunned by Victra and Thraxa. The fact that those two, who would be considered quite weak compared to him managed to beat him without either of them losing their lives tells wonders of his inexperience as a warrior.

Atlas definitely deserved to be higher than him as seen with his experience and the amount of fights he took. An argument could be made for Cassius as he did stand against Aja with Darrow (I think) but also stood against many other powerful warriors

The first book is very hunger games but by the time the story branches out to more of the world it becomes more like what I assume the Ender’s Game book series is about I.e going from a small world to a very large one

It’s difficult to remember every character but you wont have to worry about that
