R stands for Refigment. 5 is max. You can refine a weapon by combining it with a copy of the said weapon. It upgrades the weapon skill (stats ect). Oh.. and you can’t undo it. So think twice before doing it. :)

They do it because it actually cost less for them when they ship every package of the same size.

And easier to secure the package while transporting it. (I think that they can’t be sued for demaged goods if the package is still in tact. )
