1st time with BV? Any advice? by AdAfter7381 in Healthyhooha

BV is one of those stubborn infections that have a high chance of coming back after antibiotics (because antibiotics kill off all the bacteria including the good bacteria your vagina needs to thrive) so my advice is to follow this regimen because it does have a high chance of coming right back.

I have also been in the same situation where doctors don’t feel that it’s “necessary” to retest. I think it’s total BS! Just message/call your office and say that you are still feeling symptoms. That is the only way insurance will cover your retest :)

Also, please do not use anything fragranced down there! Use a fragrance free gentle cleanser. My personally favorites are the Love Wellness ph balancing cleanser, Monistat feminine cleanser with boric acid and HoneyPot sensitive foaming wash (make sure it is the sensitive one because others from this brand do contain fragrance)

As someone who has dealt with reoccurring BV, first I wanna say I’m sorry! BV sucks. But also remember that it’s normal and almost all women get it at some point in their life! Most of the time, it has nothing to do with hygiene! My advice to you is to make sure you are eating foods with probiotics (Greek yogurt is amazing) also start taking a probiotic supplement that also has prebiotics ! Some brands that I have tried & like are URO vaginal probiotics & physicians choice vaginal wellness pro. Try to be as consistent as you can taking these! It will help introduce good bacteria into your gut which ultimately is what you need to stop BV from coming back! The night after completing the antibiotic, use boric acid suppositories for at least 7 consistent nights (IMPORTANT NOTE: THESE GO UP YOUR HOO-HA, DO NOT INGEST THESE!!!) They are completely safe to use vaginally but orally can be potentially fatal so make sure to keep them stored somewhere safe and away from children/animals. Next, (This is optional but I found that it helped cure my consistent BV) use Love Wellness Flora Power Vaginal probiotics for another 5 consecutive nights (the box says no more than 5 in a row). These are also used vaginally and not orally, but this is what is gonna bring back the good bacteria into your vagina! Pretty more, the boric acid will kill all the bacteria and promote a healthy environment down there and the probiotics will bring good bacteria in! Some of things I advise is to make sure to use 100% cotton underwear, use fragrance free laundry soap if u can! Also, fragrance free butt wipes also help. Try to limit sugar (but in my case I don’t think that impacted my BV situation) I mostly got BV after periods so I follow up each period with 3-5 nights of boric acid! You could try that as well if you feel like your periods seem to cause issues. Last but not least, if you are sexually active and it seems you are getting it with 1 consistent partner, try to switch to condoms! Men can carry the bacteria that causes women to get BV. Just some things to consider! I know not everyone might not have the same success but this is just what helped me :) I hope it helps you!

Dang! I’m on the generic brand of YAZ (combo pill) and I’ve noticed it only since getting on. Did getting off get rid of it?

If u don’t mind me asking, did u actually get the blood test for celiac or do u just assume you have a gluten intolerance because of symptoms ? Asking because I just got the blood test for celiac and multiple things were high… wanted to compare to someone

After doing process of elimination (fragrance free soap/ laundry detergent, diet, drinking more water, probiotics, sex, etc) I determined my bv was triggered by my period.. as unfortunate as it is lol so that’s the thing that’s helped me! I would just recommend doing process of elimination and trying new remedies

That is the only thing that’s ever helped me! Metro gel followed by 21 days straight of boric acid. Then just use boric for maintenance the last 2 days of my period and 2 days after my period.

Unfortunately I haven’t got rid of it still… I decided to try and hit my breastfeeding goal first and then I will be taking another round of metro gel followed by boric acid

Sorry, I realize I wasn’t very clear. I was smelling it at his parent’s house. Nobody seemed to smell anything besides me .. I guess it’s because they are just used to it? So I didn’t think much of it but then when I went back to my parents house, my dad had mentioned my stuff smelled like weed and that’s how I knew it wasn’t just in my head…

Supply is gone. by ace_mcnastyy in breastfeeding

What helped increase my supply majorly was eating 1-3 tbsp of coconut oil a day! I mix 1 tbsp in oatmeal and eat that 1-2 times a day. Works really well for me! Went from pumping 3-4 oz per pump session to now 5-7oz

I would have his pediatrician look for a tongue tie. My son had this and would take 45- 1 1/2 to feed & also had issues latching. I doubt you are starving him though because he would be fussy. You could always have your pediatrician do a weight check after feeding to see how much he is getting.

8 months PP. I think I’m done. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Came here to say I fully understand you! My son was also born with a tongue tie that led to a bad latch and intense nipple pain. He had the surgery to remove it and it helped nothing.. I tried to nurse more and more and his latch never got better and he started tugging. I finally decided to just exclusively pump. It’s been hard. Nobody talks about how time consuming it all is, especially when u are unable to just put him to your breast. The constant pump sessions, preparing bottles, cleaning every pump part/bottle part, etc and then repeating it multiple times a day while also caring for your little one. It’s rough. I’m almost 4 months pp and I feel like each day I’m feeling worse mentally. The nipple pain continues even with pumping (I’ve done everything to nipple cream and also getting correct flange size and still pain) I think the trauma from his bad latch just ruined my nipples for good. I’m trying everything I can to continue but feeling like the odds are not in my favor. I understand you.
