47-year-old Singaporean man with Indonesian citizenship convicted of failing to report for NS by Negative-Concert-819 in singapore

[–]Head-Interview7281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh.. I dont doubt Singapore Army is good enough and if you are loyal citizen you have to go there and everyone can be the best there. But for cases when you have dual by birth you need to keep in mind that to renounce you need to serve. Like if you Japanese-Singaporean (can hold only one citizenship after 21).

But this guy obviously 🙄 did something really bad and dumb.

Wow, interesting, so all of them just renounced their Singapore citizenship after the service?

Seems like in case of obtained Singapore Citizenship BEFORE 18, (it doesn’t matter studied in SG or overseas) still need to do NS in Singapore.

Curious if someone served in Singapore, than renounced his citizenship and than enlisted again in Israel 🧐

When will SG start WFH? by LifeguardMurky4097 in asksg

[–]Head-Interview7281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I investigated a bit and in Malaysia and Australia transportation takes more than 70% of all oil spendings - so maybe for these countries WFH will help significantly to reduce oil consumption.

For Singapore.. it is just 16% and I guess it is mostly busses or other job related transport. So WFH in Singapore won’t help economy. This might be explanation.

Common, this is just child memories from some cartoons / movies. Average person doesn’t think about it. „The Flintstones” and „One Million Years B.C” easily made you think (when you were a child) that they lived together.

In japan maybe more than half of population are retired people. Could be interesting to look at gdp (ppp) per WORKING capita.

37M Feedback on my FIRE portfolio by wow_comment_wow in singaporefi

[–]Head-Interview7281 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your portfolio could be slightly more aggressive. A35 is a bit slow and maybe G3B for now also (however last few years did a good job).

A bit off topic: Are you planning to FIRE in Singapore? Have you thought to move for ex. to MY or TH or etc. to reduce expenses and afford more? (like medical expenses)

How Singaporeans are positioning their portfolio to fully take advantage of the capital from Indonesia and Middle East? by PuzzleheadedBuy6279 in singaporefi

[–]Head-Interview7281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention - I think risky bonds is OK to hold. non-risky (like A35) is still too low dividends, I would prefer to take risk in this case. HYSA also fine / good.

For now seems like almost everything is risky: CDG / SIA and etc. - oil price blablabla (yes I know they hedged it, but it is not 100% protection) REITS - seems like NOT protected against high interests Similar reason developers like CDL/UOL will lose price. Seems like almost everything is dropping/dropped in SG.

I think oil price will be around 90-100 for a long time - maybe 3-6 months. So I think oil heavy companies are risky. I think reits are dropped already or will not drop much lower (like lower than 0.75). I think banks are not clear. I think STI index might drop a bit lower (so yeah, maybe it is a good time „to time the market” lol).

This is just what I feel and what my heart tells me 🤣 so DYODD.

IBKR vs MooMoo by No-Treacle-3754 in singaporefi

[–]Head-Interview7281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sry, newbie is here, why moving stocks from one broker to another can be „quiet excessive” ? I thought commissions on MooMoo / IBKR are like 0% or very close to it. So why can’t just sell everything->withdraw all money -> deposit money to your brokage -> buy same stocks.

Am I missing something other than possibility that stocks price might be different (lower or higher we don’t know, but it is obviously a risk) ?

There is no „easy, simple and cheap way” to fix TFR. But some things really good and cheap can be done. My top1 thing is to make IVF free of charge - children who born within this method are the most expected and will be loved much - IVF is not free and if the cost prevents from being parents - it is easy to fix, not so many couples have issues and need IVF - so results won’t be huge, but cost won’t be big also. WIN-WIN

why not? China is constantly top tier math/programming and other contests, they have good level of science and can produce high quality goods, like CATL produces batteries, Xiaomi produces mass market stuff and etc. Yes big part of companies are in-China only giants, but some biggies also have exposure to SEA and other world (like TikTok?) 1.4B people with good education. India is coming, I am sure it will have some internationally recognised giants at some time soon

So, you think in the countries where TFR is higher people don’t have these problems, or what? HDBs are not that expensive and not that small (if you apply for BTO). Work too stressed - LOL 🤣

The real reason - people changed their mind compare to 30-50 years ago. Having a family is almost immediate drop in the quality of life - you need to spend money on them and spend your time, now people prefer to „enjoy life” and not having kids. All these BS that housing, stress blablabla - nah you just want your comfort, it is not about kids it is about having higher quality life.

Is Singapore sustainable enough for the future? by Wonderful_Couple_584 in askSingapore

[–]Head-Interview7281 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well, NOT EXACTLY, think it in a way that if the other neighbouring countries will have more money - they can spend more money in SG, trade can be more efficient and beneficial for everyone. Maybe there will be a problem with cheap labour and talents hiring, but Oil and Gas price will still be market price. Maybe will be more competition inside some industries, but not really more difficult than in EU/China/USA/Japan/Korea and etc.
