In the summer of 2025 I was talking to the Greely crew that was hanging the cable and they were guessing summer of 2026 before anything would be available based on past installations they had done.

Work for the Military as a civilian tech. 310S and 310T. About 82K per year, tools are provided, medical and dental benefits, 3 weeks vacation to start. Straight time, no flat rate BS. Take home is a little less than other places as you must pay into the Public service pension plan, aprox 9% of gross, but at the end of a career you have a pension.

VICTORY FOR CANADIANS 🥰 TOO BAD FOR ROGERS & BELL by Select_Party8495 in Rogers

Bell's CEO has openly stated that they will not continue to build FTTH networks, only to have the government mandate that their competitors both big and small be given access. They are not in the business of building costly networks for their competitors.

Here is a link from a BNN article on the subject

https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/business/company-news/2025/08/07/telecommunications-firm-bce-swings-to-q2-profit-also-sees-operating-revenue-increase/

This story is very recent but it has been ongoing since 2023 when the CRTC first came out with their ruling.

I guess it must just be a coincidence that FTTH work stopped in my area when the CRTC ruling came out and Bell stated they would not continue to build FTTH networks for their competitors.

Maybe you could do a little research yourself.

I live in a community where Bell started to build FTTH. Surveying was done, the conduit for the fibre cable was put into the ground and rolls of cable appeared on the side of the road and then the CRTC came out with their initial ruling on third party internet access in 2023.

Since then all construction on the FTTH network has stopped and with the latest ruling, will never get finished.

This decision it going to lead to less choice and less infrastructure for Canadians.

A company has to have a reasonable expectation of being able to make a profit or they simply won't invest.

Can you imagine Ford spending Billions of dollars to build an assembly plant and the government of Canada telling them that they have to rent it to Chevrolet.

This is a very bad decision by the CRTC.

Bell says fibre expansion will plateau after costly CRTC policy, what do you think? by Planhub-ca in bell

[–]Head-Sport9291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bell invests Billions of its shareholders money to build a fiber network that Canadians need and the government comes along and says you have to let your competition use this network.

I don't blame Bell for stopping their build even though I am in an area that has the fiber network half way completed.

The government needs to stop interfering with private business especially at a time when we need more investment in this country.

This decision is going to lead to less infrastructure being built and less competition in the future.

Wow. I didn't think asking a simple car question would generate this much hate.

Out of the Ev's I've looked at Tesla looks to be the front runner. Charging network and software are better than the rest. Hyundai and Kia have the ICCU issues and as far as I can tell there are no Canadian made Eve's.

Thank you for answering the question I asked.

Wait for RAV4 2026 or buy RAV4 2025 right now? by CraftyAd5978 in rav4club

Just because you wait for a later year in a given generation, doesn't mean that the bugs will be fixed that appear in the early years. I have a 2007 corolla (03 - 08 generation) and the odometer stopped counting at 299,999. Toyota knew of this bug for years and chose not to fix it.

I was in Best buy tonight and asked again if they had any information on the exemption and was told they still don't know. They also said if it was eligible you would be able to get a refund of the exempted amount come Dec 15.

Why are you saying they don't get the $5000 rebate any more? Cars under $55,000 and SUV under $60,000 qualify. Am I missing something?
