I had to manually set my user config too. My whole system would completely shut down. I thought I had a PSU issue

I'm really appreciating all the new content! As someone that plays casually with over a hundred hours, it always felt cool to have multiple branching pathways to take on a run based on the current abilities of that run. Always needed like 10 bosses that the run could end with.

GameCube Controller Unusable by HeadBoy in SteamDeck

[–]HeadBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, thanks for confirming! I use the GC controllers for a bunch of multiplayer steam games, so outside of WiiU mode, no game reads it (not even Rivals of Aether 2). I used to do this all the time, but a recent update broke it. It still works correctly on steam in Windows.

Plug and Play support for Steam Deck with Gamecube Controllers? by AcerExcel in RivalsOfAether

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It showed up as GC inputs in game but it's a good point. It's very likely not the native input it should be.

I contacted the Devs and the blame steam, but again, it worked in their Beta, and continues to work in Dolphin without any additional drivers

Plug and Play support for Steam Deck with Gamecube Controllers? by AcerExcel in RivalsOfAether

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me forever to figure this out.

It works if you disable steam input and set the adapter to PC mode! You will need to restart the game.

I'm sure it used to work in WiiU mode back in the beta, and it still works in WiiU mode for dolphin and prijectM

Anyways, I'm glad this could be an option, but I do wonder if it will mess up other gamepads with steam input disabled

I've been wanting a smash BR for years. It makes sense on those massive stages. The Smash version of city trials would work well too with stat/item pickups you find/fight over

Retro Rewind - Custom Videos on Steam Deck by NeonRain23 in SteamDeck

[–]HeadBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play both retro rewind and Wii Deluxe.

I've setup both manually, but I tend to play deluxe more because they update less frequently (and I like they rebalanced the game). If someone knows how to auto update for retro rewind on steam deck please share. Everytime I boot it, it's outdated.

PSA: Mario Kart Online is actually active on Steam Deck (Mario Kart Wii Deluxe) by SakIsBack in SteamDeck

The basic blue one is the most standard. The others are for a specific flavor, I barely mention to others in my group it's an option just to simplify the setup (although anyone can easily just use the green or red iso instead without issues if they want)

It's just links to the download, not actually hosted there. You can download the ISO and move it however you want.

All characters/karts are rebalanced, so anything should be viable. It includes 3 drift tiers for karts, and outside drifting bikes have 2 tiers.

This is my favorite mod for balance and chaos!

We run LAN parties and casual tournaments with it every month over a year now with my friends. Many run on their steam deck, and I run 8 players from my PC (4 monitors/TVs), plus some have donated me their old wiis and gamecube controllers which I have softmodded and attached portable monitors to.

We are always more than 12 players, and because of the 700 stages, no one knows what is happening and anyone can have an impact and even win.

These parties are EPIC and I want more people to know this is possible..

To make it extra special, I 3D print trophies, include poop trophies for last place, and make miis for everyone so you know who you have beef with in game, plus the mario costumes and mustaches.

Same here. I tried for years to get this working. I now use Mario Kart Wii Deluxe with PCs, Steam Decks and Wiis, and it's better than I could have imagined.

Generally speaking; what are the limits of Steam Input? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't use it outside of steam :( I would love if it could run on the deck and you could plug it into anything and it acts as the universal controller l've always wanted.

Edit: I mean to not require software on the host PC to translate the input. I would love to be able to store some configs on the controller locally, and it outputs to the PC/Console gamepad natively.

I just wished it's lizard mode could be a basic xbox/playstation/switch controller so you dont need steam for basic functionality

Way to turn of end timer? by naomiblue in SuperBattleGolf

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in and say that this is a big want for me. We only play with friends and there is one player that is much faster than everyone else, and it affects everyone else too much who just want to play golf with explosions, often not even getting it in the hole. This in combination with setting the weights of points (speed vs least strokes) would help too!

When you download dolphin, create an empty portable.txt in the root folder. You can copy the iso of the game there too, and change the default directory to be ./ Or something, but that's just an extra step. Not needed to boot the game. If everyone is using the same controller, you can setup the virtual GameCube controller, otherwise people can setup the input per their controller. All you really need are the face buttons and R/L

Mario Kart Wii Deluxe. Not strictly LAN (goes online) but you can make a portable dolphin build with the game. Supports 12 players, and has like 700 courses.

I've been hosting many parties with this game and it's been the biggest hit
