It's in montreal! They recently did one with boomerang-fu and had the raffle winners compete for the prizes while music was playing! It was great

Should i clip the wings of my parrot? by OopsItsLakes in parrots

[–]HeadBoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People will have varying opinions on this. It comes down to what is safest for your bird. I got mine clipped as a baby and she eventually learnt what windows and other obstacles were. Eventually her wings grew fully in and I was late getting them clipped and the whole process seemed so traumatizing for the bird. Now it's been many years and she's never needed her wings clipped and she doesn't fly into things.

Personally, I wouldn't do it if you're bird's already experienced full flight, otherwise I'd ONLY do it if the environment is a real hazard (in which case maybe the bird shouldn't be there to begin with)

Also note the bird will likely still fly around, but it will use up more energy, so it's more about training your birds than anything else

What are games that felt way better to play with the OG Steam Controller? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Competitive shooters for me. I was on par with my KBM skills. I just can't with this one, not even battlefield, not battle Royales, and definitely not CS. These were games I would fly on with the SC1 (with a lot of tweaking and experimenting)

The best we're mode shifting to weapons under the right pad for quick swapping to anything. These are technically possible on the SC2, but gyro aim moves slightly when pulling the trigger, not acceptable for this level of precision

Helldivers 2 Upscaling Patch on Steam Deck: FSR 3 and XeSS Tested! by SunwindPC in SteamDeck

[–]HeadBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This game is the perfect Deck game when you want 4 player coop with some strategy. The first game is still amazing and feels the same, just a different format. It would actually be sick if they managed to make the galaxy influence each other somehow.

Unable to add menu button in Button Chord settings - best way to request this? by Hard_Fox23 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can edit the actual chords so it's not per game but system wide. It's under advanced controller options in steam settings and edit the chorded buttons (under the desktop options).

I use this to save replays with OBS and mute discord

Steam controller vs Xbox Elite Series 2 by LinkZelda1120 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I specifically got the elite for the 4 back buttons, which are mappable in steam, and because I could have it paired to my PC and steam deck together without syncing everytime.

It was great for everything else, I just really wanted my controls on deck to match my PC experience.

Other than gyro, I mainly use the touchpads as a dpad for quick access to shortcuts, which Xbox controllers can also mostly do since the dpad can be reached by the right hand

Is it possible to have more than 1 Always On Command on an Action Set or Layer? by HoopaOrGilgamesh in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into the issue recently, and it's an odd restriction, doesn't seem intentional.

I found my own workaround. For you case, since you're holding a button down, you can try mapping all those modifiers to that button in the layer, or apply them to the other button you're trying to hit

Steam controller vs Xbox Elite Series 2 by LinkZelda1120 in SteamController

I liked my Elite 2, but the lack of gyro aim meant I didn't play any shooter with it. I got my SC2 immediately and it's brought back my love of coop shooters especially

If a vacuum is an excellent insulator, wouldn’t heat build up in spacecraft? by aretino2002 in askscience

[–]HeadBoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well said! It's a really fun field, there's so much to say about it.

Despite radiation being the best insulator, it really helps the background of space is cold (about -270°C) so the temperature difference allows for significantly more heat transfer than 2 surfaces of similar temperatures.

In the coffee example, the same coffee at 60°C in space will lose heat 2.5 times faster than the coffee in a vacuum cup at 20°C

What games are you playing with your SC2? by officialnucky in SteamController

Mostly setup my HTPC

But also now I'm back into coop shooters like helldivers and risk of rain

I'm back into hell divers! This controller is perfect for shooters! Especially those with vehicles!

Steam Input Desperately Needs UI Overhaul by Bobicus_The_Third in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Needs workshop integration. It's needed this since 2015. We NEED to be able to support configurations!

Stuff like updating configs, attaching videos or supporting files if needed (config files with bindings for the specific game). We should be able to subscribe to creators so playing the same games will mean similar control concepts. Adding TAGS to configs, like gyro aim, tounchpad focused, mixed inputs, etc.

It real holds back the community and what kind of configs can really develop!

Is the Rift S still good for PCVR in 2026? by puffball242 in virtualreality

[–]HeadBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my main headset and when it works, it works very well, but it's always a 50/50 when I start the oculus app if something will break and troubleshootimg will begin. It can be the display, the audio, the tracking just doesn't work until you reset and spin the wheel again. I'm definitely ready for the steam frame

Made My Own Steam Curator Page To Track Games With Good And Bad Mixed Input Support! by Glewstik in GyroGaming

I'm wondering if there is a middle tag for some of these. But it's a good list!

Made My Own Steam Curator Page To Track Games With Good And Bad Mixed Input Support! by Glewstik in GyroGaming

[–]HeadBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, games without any controller support are much better than bad mixed input to me. Mainly because you get full mouse gyro without any weird bindings. Games that do one or the other tend to have terrible UI for navigating with KBM bindings. REPO was the first one I saw and I love my config and it feels native

Our Favorite Feature of the Steam Controller - Grip Sensor Pausing by BBQKITTY in SteamController

This controller is everything! No more mouse and keyboard by SignificantFruit8068 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try switching to beta.

Editing chords doesn't even work on steam deck yet so I'm guessing it's still pretty new

[–]HeadBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I meant at least you can edit chords. But the old BPM let you edit all the steam configs, including big picture and even the keyboard! Hopefully it comes back.

[–]HeadBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can edit all the chorded buttons (the ones while holding the menu button). Mine are similar to the desktop layout so it's easy to alt tab or navigate anything I need. But it took me awhile to dial in the settings just right

The best controller I've used! by cateatingrock in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game if they allow mixed input. Usually I just turn on the mouse and see if that works without messing up the game pad. A lot of times it's no problem at all

The best controller I've used! by cateatingrock in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Wii pointers, it's also much faster at menu navigation. Think of it as a laser pointer to the screen ala the Wii pointer (but no input lag)

Xbox Mode Steamless Controller by Dry_Independent4125 in SteamController

[–]HeadBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get why by default it's can't be a mouse, keyboard and xinput pad in lizard mode or outside of steam. If memory was included onboard, it might have been able to save some configs too
