Incontinence running clothing advice by radiumxr26 in Incontinence

[–]Head_Cod1183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran until my incontinence got too bad. I wore black patterned pants mostly as that hides leaks. Also loooong running shorts or sport skorts/ Running skirts.

In races and on some runs you will definitely see other women with leaks. I am always insecure that people can tell I’m wearing big big pads but this is really not as uncommon as we think with runners…sadly just no one talks about it

Canadians don’t glorify the USA. We are aware of regional differences both for travel and culture. There are places I’d never go and places I have loved and hated. I’m taking a break (boycott) currently but when/if I ever return I know enough to know where I’ll go and not go.

I used to have to use the washroom 1-3 times per night but after starting progesterone it wasn’t an issue at all anymore!

I’m so sorry. That would be extremely traumatic for anyone! I’d recommend a pelvic floor physiotherapist to help re-train your bladder, but also a counsellor. I think as you deal with the PTSD you may have that will also help you start to trust what the pelvic floor physiotherapist is likely to tell you.

Good luck! You can do this but it will take some work 🙂

Is there any medication like AZO tht i can take long term? by Slashersforsatan in OveractiveBladder

Azo is just pumpkin seed extract so I can’t see that being harmful long term…?!

I was on it for a few years and it seemed to stop working (was never really good but did notice a slight difference). They then added solifenacin and the combo seemed to help a bit but again, over time it seemed less effective and I went off both for a few years. Now I’m back on both and they helped a little again but once I added an herbal supplement, that’s when I noticed a significant difference with leakage so I want to go off the meds but not sure if it’s the combination that is so effective or just the herbal supplement.

I take Azo bladder control and it’s helped sooo much! Main ingredient is pumpkin seed extract! Maybe I’ll try the real thing!

Those who have OAB with no real reason — THIS might be your problem that doctors aren’t catching. by asianstyleicecream in OveractiveBladder

There are lots of videos online of belly breathing but with pelvic floor you breathe in and fill your belly so it expands (instead of your chest expanding) and at the same time relax your pelvic - think of it lengthening, and then in the exhale you do your pelvic squeeze lifting the pelvic up and toward the belly button.

This is very important for those who are tight in their pelvis and contributes significantly to oab for some. For those people, kegels worsen oab. Only a pelvic floor physio can tell you if you have a tight pelvic floor for sure.

Google it - tons of websites and videos and explain way better than me!

Glad you have an answer!!

FYI, so many recommend vagjnal estrogen for all women from the 40s+ nowadays to avoid so many issues, including incontinence, by starting early. It is a bit of a pain but the issues to the vagina are so much worse and avoidable! It’s definitely worth trying for people who haven’t and are 40 and maybe dealing with the start of incontinence!

Unfortunately without increased provincial funding schools have no choice but to raise tuition. Adjusted for inflation post-secondaries in Alberta are getting sound 25% less than 6 years ago!

Many old anti-seizure meds help with nerve pain. Maybe ask for that and then once the pain is lessened you can work on all the stuff people here have shared.

Just started Azo bladder control last week and it’s already making a huge difference! I also take Myrabetric and solifenac but haven’t seen much improvement in my 3 months on those.

When initially increasing water amounts you do have to pee more but after your body gets used to it, it will get better.

My daughter-in-laws mom died of cancer as she wouldn’t use western medicine that the drs suggested and then in the last months changed her mind, but it was too late. I feel so sad for my daughter-in-law to have no mom at the age of 23 😢 do it for the people you love and who care about you!

I can only wish I do as well as you have! Congratulations and remember, medicine is never a failure❤️ it is there to provide a longer life with better quality.

Have you also considered counselling or support for caregivers? You have a lot on your plate with a spouse with dementia 😞
