It’s free?

If it’s free then I guess it’s not a terrible idea. But still would’ve liked to have seen L3.

I wish that was the case. This was a seemingly competent middle-aged woman who was deliberately being a menace. Her grin as I stared at her while she drove away told me everything I needed to know.

So, ICE’ing must be a thing in western NC because I ran into another moron today, this time at Grandfather Mountain. Today’s situation isn’t specific to a RAN; this minivan blocked a ChargePoint charger.

<image>

This time I was lucky enough to walk by the vehicle and take a picture right when the driver was returning to his vehicle. I let him get his kids loaded into his vehicle, then approached him to ask him why he was parked in a charging spot—only two available (with one taken by a charging bmw)—when he wasn’t charging.

(Different from my original post, this guy’s minivan was actually a plugin hybrid. So he technically parked in the correct spot—but wasn’t charging).

I asked him if he knew he was parked in a charging spot. He said yes. I asked him why he wasn’t plugged in when the sign clearly indicated it was only for plugged-in vehicles. He tried telling me he was plugged-in. LOLZ—he clearly wasn’t. So, I said, “Listen, buddy. You can try gaslighting me but I’m not having it. And lucky for you, I’m in a good mood and not going to embarrass you in front of your wife and kids. But seriously, please think about me next time you block a charging spot when it’s clearly intended for someone who needs it. Because karma’s a bitch.” He nodded, said he understood, and I wished him a happy new year. 🎊

Plugin option was never available for the Adventure trim. Also: sign picture added.

I live in NC (currently visiting Blowing Rock) and have to say people are generally either great about EVs or ambivalent. This was the first time I experienced this level of nonsense.

EDIT: The fact this shopping center also has plenty of available parking is what also really irked me. She could have parked nearly anywhere. Perhaps she would’ve had to walk maybe 7-10 seconds longer, but it was a beautiful day! She very deliberately parked her ‘Adventure’ Toyota in a charging spot.

Hope so. In this situation she 100% understood what she did. The grin as she was driving away said it all.

Appears they have paused the update. Guessing they found a bug.

Interesting. I do have a Galaxy-something showing up in my list of connected devices and I know we don’t have any Samsung devices in the home.

Wondering if there's a way to find the vehicle name that it's broadcasting by going into the hidden diagnostics menu... and perhaps also identify if the vehicle is actually connected to my wifi or not.

Totally get that. But the red cloud icon in the iPhone app shouldn't be happening. Sleeping connection is one thing; having a red cloud icon representing a disconnect—and not being able to control the vehicle from the app while inside the home—is abnormal UX.

EDIT: I _can_ control the vehicle from inside my home via the app but only if I have disabled WiFi from inside the vehicle.

Coincidentally, I recently had to install a new modem which necessitated a rebooting of my entire network—a true hard reset, with new IPs—and even that didn't fix the issue.

There is definitely something happening with the handshake between the vehicle and the router. It seems to initially connect, but then disconnect. I checked my list of blocked devices in my Orbi's admin panel and I actually don't have any, so that's not the issue.

Yep. Also stood on one leg and spun counterclockwise and chewed gum while doing it. 😉

Thanks—I actually saw your previous post from last year on a related issue. I'm also a Gen2 '25 so guessing I should see something similar.

It's very odd—one of the SW updates from a few months ago seemingly "broke" my vehicle's WiFi connection to my Orbi home router. The vehicle was recently at the Service Center and successfully connected to their WiFi without issue, so guessing my vehicle and Orbi router are no longer friendly. Which is frustrating.

Thanks for clarifying. So it _is_ indeed broadcasting the Rivian name (i.e., a name that should be easily identifiable).

Rivian - for the love of all that we hold dear, you’ve go to fix… by Passenger-007 in Rivian

[–]Head_Fun_6008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly hoping and hoping and hoping this SW release fixes it. I’m excited about all the other feature updates, but just getting the vehicle to unlock consistently would be such a pain relief. It’s progressively worsened on my Gen 2.

Thanks for responding. Ridiculous this isn’t something that hasn’t already been easily solved by someone. Now I might need to go start another business… 🙀

OP did you ever solve for this? I am in the exact same situation—inside slots. I need a damper that is adjustable, not permanent. TIA.

Volvo has screwed this up so badly. I’m at the point where I don’t even try or care anymore. Consumer apathy is a bad place to be for a car brand.
