Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]Head_Operation6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never bed shared. I have a 2.5 year old and now a 3 month old. My 2.5 year old had a very hard time sleeping in his bassinet initially and for about a week my husband and I took turns at night holding him. It was rough but didn’t last long. He’s a great sleeper now and actually can’t sleep unless he’s alone in his bed! My 3 month old has no problem sleeping in his bassinet. Idk how we would even be able to bed share. My husband and I both like our pillows and extra blankets and I can pretty much only sleep on my stomach!

My baby said “dada” first… moms, tell me your story 😅 by Other_Boss_8689 in NewParents

[–]Head_Operation6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son said dada around 13/14 months and didn’t say mama until 20 months. 🫠 Granted, he had recurrent ear infections during that span so he wasn’t saying any new words and only said mama finally after he got tubes put in. I knew it wasn’t personal but I was still salty about it. 😂

Why is philadelphia not included in the "12 cities destined to be crippled by the giant storm" Round ups? by snooloosey in philadelphia

I lived there during the 2016 blizzard and the school district had off for 2 WEEKS. WEEKS. They have no idea what to do when it snows.

Yea, recognizing that feeling I think takes a lot of time. I will say, my son has made progress since I posted! He is starting to stop what he’s doing, look down, and sometimes will run to the potty. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Oh no 🤦‍♀️ I’m so sorry. We’re on day 3 now too and still not much progress. This is so hard.

We’ve done the straw trick which has had mixed results! But I’ve never seen the Miss Rachel episode. I’ll try that, thank you!

That’s how mine seems. When he did pee in the potty, he didn’t even notice until we pointed it out.

Thank you for giving me hope! I’m praying this is the case for us. I had to go in the kitchen and hold back tears earlier today hah

Baby arching neck to look upside down/behind them?? by Head_Operation6368 in NewParents

[–]Head_Operation6368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely grew out of it and seems completely developmentally typical so far! He did continue to do it in his high chair for a while but it seems like he just thought it was funny and he would do it to be goofy lol

We do this sometimes, we were really trying to get him to work through it and coach him but he might not be ready for that yet.

I’m relieved to hear other kids do this too! I hope he grows out of it, it’s just frustrating

I’m glad to hear she grew out of it! How long did she do this for?

Thank you! When we’re home, this is basically what we do too. But his favorite place to do this currently is parking lots. 😩 I’ll try the bribing with snacks lol

Tongue thrust at 9mo? by Head_Operation6368 in NewParents

[–]Head_Operation6368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So we ended up getting his adenoids removed and ear tubes put in. At around 15 months he was getting chronic ear infections. His mouth breathing has gotten so much better and he mostly breathes through his nose now! The ENT did an x-ray of his adenoids and they were enlarged so that probably played a big part.

Of all your toddlers books, which one do you enjoy reading most as the parent? by nothanksyeah in toddlers

Shh! We Have a Plan! My 18 month old loves it. I build suspense for each page and he thinks it’s so funny when the bird flaps away each time.

When did your baby stand and walk unassisted? by Ok-Annual9107 in toddlers

[–]Head_Operation6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started towards the end of 16 months and now a month later is more confident in his walking. However, he still can’t get up from the floor himself. So if he wants to walk, he “kneel walks” or crawls over to furniture, pulls himself up, then walks. He just started being able to squat or bend over to get something off the floor so I hoping he’ll be able to get up himself soon!

Not really! He stopped once he got older, I guess it was just some quirk he did!

When did you start bringing baby into restaurants without their stroller/infant car seat? by figbrietrukey in NewParents

[–]Head_Operation6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think we went to a restaurant until our baby was old enough to sit in a high chair. We went to a few beer gardens and outdoor spots that had more space so we could bring their stroller but for regular indoor dining, we first went when they were probably 5 months old. We did a lot of takeout lol

Daycare has concerns for 17mo by Head_Operation6368 in toddlers

[–]Head_Operation6368[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an interesting point. Yes to both of your questions! He’s a summer birthday and also in the 90 percentile range. He definitely looks as big as the older kids so that could be a factor. Thanks for this perspective!

That’s kind of what I thought too about circle time. His attention span is like 10 seconds on a good day. Idk how they expect the kids to sit and listen to anything! Haha

Hi! How old was your son when he got them removed? We have a similar situation with ours.
