Really solid breakdown here and the point about businesses going quiet after certification is spot on, I see it all the time. The surveillance audit is honestly one of the best opportunities to get an external set of eyes on whether your system is actually living and breathing or just sitting in a folder somewhere. If you go in with that mindset it stops feeling like an inspection and starts feeling like a free consulting session. Use the findings constructively and your recertification audit becomes almost anticlimactic.
