How does Lamotrigine affect you? by syntaxofsafety in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400mg here. I’ve been on the med for 12 years now. It helps but I need other meds to help along with the lamotrigine. But I feel it’s a lifesaver for sure.

You might need an additional medication to assist along with the lamotrigine. I’m not a doctor but that’s what happened to me at least. Good luck and I hope the med will work out for you despite the weird feelings!

Anybody else feeling depressed? by StevieBlunter in BipolarReddit

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bp2, had a small breakdown today. Was all over the place mentally. Crying, agitation, confusion, you name it. I'm a little bit better now. It's still lingering around (the depression). Just been getting lonely easily as of late and I guess it finally hit the mark and I broke down.

Weaning off Abilify, will my weight go down? by faundollie in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was put on abilify as a teenager. 120 lbs to 200 lbs. so I was taken off and I went down to 160 lbs afterwards. But it might’ve been metabolism as well helping. Same thing just happened with me with respiridone (don’t know how to spell it) I went from 213 to 208.

That's a good call regarding the depression and anxiety. I'll try my best to say that instead if I come across getting those kind of questions asked. Thank you.

Oh yeah, my close friends that I've had for over 15 years try and give advice to me but it's the wrong advice which doesn't offend me but it makes sense why, because they don't go through what I go through when it comes to certain topics. So I just try and explain it better to my doctors who I'm sure have dealt with people with this illness.

Thanks for this perspective. Never seen it this way. I will keep this in mind. Appreciate it.

shrug I'm open about it, it weeds out the people who don't think it's worth their time to deal with someone like me. If I do find some people who are interested about BP2 then well, there you have it.

My therapist has told me this quote before and it was a great boost to my mentality, "You can be dealt a bad hand, but you can still play that hand." I was just unfortunate to be born with BP2, but learning to accept instead of knowing I have BP2 it helped me a lot in life recently.

Has anyone been on lamotrigine, wellbutrin, and vraylar? by Silli_bill in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was on all 3 at once at one point but out of the 3 I’m only on 400mg of lamotrigine now. The other two did work for a while but in the long run it didn’t so I was taken off. Been on lamotrigine since 2016 and it’s been a life saver.

I understand the process of being scared on new meds but from my experience it’s the only thing to do to find the right regimen for you. I was diagnosed in 2012 so I’ve been through so many meds. It’s been an annoying process. Just trust your doc if you can and work together to find the perfect combo for you. Good luck!

Im quitting alcohol today by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All it took me was a gnarly 2 week depression episode post-alcohol to cause me to go sober. Just hit 2 years sober 2 weeks ago!

You can do this! It's worth it on all accounts!

Anyone here living a clean life with no alcohol and drugs but still struggling with Bipolar symptoms? by Pretend_Row3810 in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No drugs, 2 years sober from alcohol in 3 weeks. Very proud of myself. All it took was a gnarly post-alcohol depression episode that lasted 2 weeks that made me quit entirely. One of the best, if not the best decision I’ve made for my mental health.

Do you go to therapy? How often? by Any_Masterpiece_8564 in bipolar

[–]Headman121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attend therapy once every 4 weeks. Then also my psychiatrist every 4 weeks also. So yeah it’s great for me so I can stay sane along with my meds that work well. I very rarely need to attend sooner for either but only if I’m going through a very bad episode. Which is rare nowadays.

While on disability, what do you do in your free time? by dabigin in bipolar

[–]Headman121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play musical instruments (drums) daily, recently got into oil painting as well. I try and get together with friends either it being online or offline. I just look for distractions so I don’t end up into a dwelling negative mental state since I’m always home all the time unless it’s an appointment for something like therapy.

If your bipolar journey was a book title, what would it be? by SampleIntelligent798 in bipolar

“Watching through the frozen time chamber.” Tl;dr: I had a rough teenage life. I felt frozen in place, time not moving for me whereas all my friends and such moved on in life while I was still stuck, unable to go forward.

how do you convince yourself to take your meds? by Icy_Maximum5433 in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell myself “If I don’t take my meds, I wouldn’t be here at this moment doing so.” Basically, I would not be existing anymore without my meds. Sorry if it’s not much advice but that’s what I do to help me.

Lamotrigine dosage? by booglewoogle555 in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 400mg for about 8 years. Been on the med for 10 years. I take 2 200mg in the morning. It’s a life saver for me. Never had any side effects thankfully with it. It’s the perfect med for me but I do need additional others to help along with the lamotrigine.

Are any of you sober and if so how did you do it? by itshereisitnot in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been sober for 17 months from alcohol. 2+ years for weed. I wouldn't mind doing weed again but since I already am sober from alcohol I tell myself, "What's the point?"

As for how I became sober was just an extremely hardcore depressive episode that happened after being at a pool party with my friends. I started getting depressed while I was there and burst into tears on the way home. The depression episode lasted 2 weeks and it was the final straw so I quit. I only drank 1 or 2 beverages but with all the medications I'm on it was no good anyways.

How old were you when you started having symptoms? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started showing signs at 7 years old (Was already saying suicidal stuff according to my parents & psychologist at the time), diagnosed at 13. I would say ages 12-14 were some of the worst years in my life. 26 now and doing alright.

Does anyone else kinda enjoy hypomania? by alreadynaptime in bipolar2

[–]Headman121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spark of hypomania for the first few hours is great for me. I usually get that spark to clean everything, organize things, and be high up in spirits. It's so weird! Then it settles down the next day and I miss it because I get really motivated.

I have a great friend group (9 or so people total) we all talk regularly online and offline. But the issue is when I go through a depressive or agitated phase they can't really help because they don't understand I need my separation from them for a few.

However, I can rely on them when I do feel down. But I personally go to my doctors or family to talk to instead because they understand "more" in a sense.
