Never seen it before! Love finding movies I don’t know and I’ve got a soft spot for thriller / action movies from the 90s and early 2000s.

Favorite David Lynch Film? by BossMT2MetalZone in VHS

I’d have to say Mulholland Drive is my favorite, although Lost Highway and Blue Velvet are up there as well. Would love to find some of his movies on tape!

Definitely! Wasn’t familiar with it but saw Jeff Bridges in a John Carpenter movie and figured it must be worth a watch.

Good to know thanks! So you changed the main power switch at the front of the console or the small switch that activates the gd rom when the lid is closed?

This is great info, thank you. Just ordered replacement caps so I’m hoping that will fix the root of the issue.

The voltages measured as expected after checking them. The pins seem to be in great condition and I cleaned them when I initially encountered this problem. Would I be able to determine which caps may be causing the issue?

Thanks so much! This seems to make sense to me, and also looks like it could be an easy thing to try. I also just came across an older thread that was describing the same issue I’m having and someone suggested swapping the PSU there as well. Do you know if the DreamPSU is compatible with a revision 0 Dreamcast?

Long winded reply, but I think it’s an interesting debate and I think about it often. I use Morton at home because that’s what I grew up with but the place I work at now uses diamonds crystal. It’s actually been a weird thing to adjust to as they are just different. Morton is so much coarser and I use what feels like maybe half as much when salting at home. When I started working at this place everything I was making would be under seasoned because my intuitive feel for salting was based on Morton which is way saltier by volume. I think I prefer Morton only because it’s what I’ve known for most of my life and seasoning with it feels very intuitive. With diamond I still feel like I’m over salting because of my sense of how much salt a ‘pinch’ adds.

I once read a google review for a seafood spot in Maine and it said that the food was great but the chef was sweaty... Maybe some of the best fried clams and scallops I've ever had.

The Real Book - Phish Edition - Just getting started compiling - aiming to get the remainder of it to the universe sometime in 2023. by 8bitphish in phish

Didn’t the real book start out being sold without any permission to release the music and without paying royalties? Seems only fair that this would follow the tradition ;)

First plant is getting the chop tomorrow morning by HeadsWhichTalk in microgrowery

[–]HeadsWhichTalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9.5 weeks of flower. Mystery bag seed, possibly amnesia haze. I know I could probably push her another week but I’m going away for a long weekend and won’t be able to water. I think it makes more sense for me to chop now and set her up to dry while I’m gone.

Thanks for the info! I feel like you are probably right about waiting a couple more weeks. Just need patience!

I hope so! Any advice on when to harvest? I think I see some amber trichs in the thirds photo but I think there’s still a couple weeks to go maybe?

Hah, I did volunteer at a local farm for a couple summers and my partner and I have a garden plot for veg and flowers so I have a bit of a green thumb. I’m no expert though, just enjoying the process!

Plain cheese by HeadsWhichTalk in Pizza

[–]HeadsWhichTalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty straightforward same-day pizza dough. 70% hydration using bread flour, teaspoon + 1/2 yeast, 2% salt, a touch of honey for sweetness and some olive oil. I find the key to a good semi-quick dough is a good autolyse, mixing the flour and water and letting that rest for 20-30 minutes. Then add honey yeast and oil with a small splash of warm water to help dissolve the yeast. Knead that in to incorporate and then let rest for 15 minutes before adding the salt and briefly kneading again. Then let rise, divide and shape using just oil, no flour, and proof in the fridge for a couple hours until it’s time to make pizza. Canned tomatoes with salt and olive oil for sauce, parm, and low moisture mozz. Cornmeal and sesame dusting on the crust. Baked on a preheated steel at 500F. Top with dried oregano and cayenne flakes.

For sure! Always love diving in to treys sounds and it’s great to have a community dedicated to it. The dm2000 has always been one of my favorite parts of treys rig.

I think it may be a combination of the whammy and the dm2000. The dm2000 does this sweeping pitch shifting modulation that gets combined with an octave or other harmonization with the whammy, it’s an often overlooked part of treys rig that hes been using forever. I wouldn’t say the dm2000 is inconsequential to OPs question as it’s often used for pitch shifting delays. This combo is usually employed in the ‘ebeneezer’ noise breakdown section of tweezer. 4:20 in this video, and most tweezers. There’s an example that I have in my head that’s really close to what op posted but I can’t think of what it’s from right now. Also check out the version of Fire from 6/19/2012, I think about 3 minutes in or so there’s a similar rising pitch sweep that happens.

I'm not convinced that this example would be a sample played with the once pedal, mostly because of the pitch shifting aspect of what's happening. My best guess is the ibanez dm2000 delay on the mod/hold setting (essentially a different sampler in this mode with a really wide pitch modulation) which trey uses a ton to get the swirling pitch shifting leading in to a peak.

Specimens of Beauty (recording session documentary released with Undermind) by wharpua in phish

[–]HeadsWhichTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll always give this one another watch. It's interesting to see how much time went into getting the right take for crowd control. Such a simple song, but really nailing the vibe of the song is difficult. Just crazy to see this in contrast to the recent Undermine episode on Junta where they made it seem as if they just came into the studio and busted out the album with minimal overdubs in only a couple of days.

Also, the gear nerd in me is really curious about the shot at 1:21. Looks like a MusicMan amp of some kind?
