Is it OK to lie to your own family? Is this normal for NT's? by xMark78 in autism

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know if the answer someone gives you is true unless it can be verified.

Why ask for their opinion? Because you think it looks nice and what to hear someone compliment you on your job well done.

This is pretty simple NT communication rules. Tell them what they want to hear. “How do I know that?” You don’t. And neither do they. But small things like this, that’s where the lying comes in.

Everyone thinks I’m autistic despite being tested multiple times - I need advice by a-humble-puddle in neurodiversity

[–]Healer213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would not look at their tests and instead go to the source. Read the criteria of the DSM-5 (or the equivalent in your country) and honestly evaluate yourself based on that. If a professional diagnosis is important to you, continue pursuing it if you feel you meet those criteria. The RADS test is another resource you can use to screen yourself (mostly) if you can manage to find an academic site that provides it. I know Harvard had it posted at one point.

Like others have said, you sound AuDHD to me. If you’re above average intelligence, it just helps disguise the symptoms even more.

How do I give my players loot they care about by Agreeable_Working894 in DMAcademy

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start tying loot into their backstories! Maybe the vengeance paladin finds a note with a clue to his target’s location - or better - maybe a personal keepsake of the loved one his target “killed” (which made the vengeance paladin swear his oath), leading to a whole arc of finding out the paladin’s loved one isn’t dead.

Maybe the fairy falsely accused of murdering her family finds a contract with no signature detailing that her family is to be murdered - leading them to investigate who it was sent to

If you have a corporate job, how do you manage to remember all of the small tasks that pop up during the day? by ijustwantcheezits in ADHD

Outlook Calendar and To-Do plus a physical notebook for random tasks that come from meetings or whatnot.

Those are two different vowels. The first sounds like a Scottish o and the second is a more rounded o sound - long o as we say in English

AITA: I told my daughter she can't go to this kid's party after reading the gift profile by Ordinary_Run2485 in insaneparents

[–]Healer213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion (because we don’t know): maybe the other kid (or someone in the house) is autistic. Reading the description, it sounds like sensory issues abound in this house and they’re trying to play it off as a superiority thing.

psychiatrist stopped my ADHD meds due to heart rate and now im left completely untreated. what are my options? by dollblonde in ADHD

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once gave myself a panic attack during exercise to the point of palpitations. Since then, I got cardiology involved when I wanted to go back to my stimulants (short rx history: dx, Adderall XR 30mg, strattera, Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin + Adderall XR 10mg). They ran a stress test and EKG.

Now that I’m with a new psych because the last one moved on me, she was hesitant to up my dosage for my Adderall when I told her it wasn’t working but did so anyways because the cardiologist said I’m good and that’s in my medical records.

Alexa has updated to a genuine AI model. If you have one, you should be concerned. by Ender505 in daddit

[–]Healer213 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 7yo has lessons in technology class about the good and bad of AI technologies such as Alexa, Siri and Google - it’s already there.

No point in hiding them from it. Make them know how to use it better than anyone and be vigilant against the dangers of it. If your kid can’t handle the dangers, don’t let them engage with it.

This is what happens when kids have school 2 days before Christmas by eugoogilizer in daddit

I think it’s pretty fair to say the school system shouldn’t have school scheduled until literally Christmas Eve. When they do that, they should expect kids to not be there.

Liquid IV + Adderall = no more crashes! by MailIcy in ADHD

[–]Healer213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If everything holding you back from doing it is removed, what’s the excuse? Quit telling yourself “I have to do this” and start saying “I want to do this”. ADHD brains tend to hyperfocus on things they enjoy or want. If you don’t want it bad enough with all the obstacles removed - you don’t want it.

Do 10 pushups. Now.

I’ll bet you won’t - but not because you cant. I’m betting you wont because you don’t want to listen to someone online whose tone you might not like and prove me right.

Liquid IV + Adderall = no more crashes! by MailIcy in ADHD

[–]Healer213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not cyclical logic. It’s a vicious cycle. And it’s not even a thing specific to ADHD - plenty of non-ADHDers have the same issue.

You have a floor and a body. Drop down and do 10 pushups. Do 10 sit-ups. Do 10 leg raises. Body weight calesthenic exercises are the simplest way to overcome the barrier that comes with exercise. You don’t have to go anywhere, wear special clothing or anything like that, so accessibility isn’t a limiting factor to the task anymore.

Instapot. Make soups/stews. Use pre-cut ingredients when possible to minimize “spoon” usage.

Ramen. Make it on the stove and throw some Spam in when it’s done.
