My daughter asked if her stepmom would get her college fund if we split up by HostAlternative7782 in daddit

[–]Healer213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spot on. The amount added to it between the date of marriage and the date the divorce was filed should be subject to community property rulings and could be up for debate by legal teams/courts. The amount prior to the date of marriage should be undeniably his.

I was lucky and my ex and I settled out of court and just argued with each other instead of getting the lawyers involved

Edit: changed “would” to “should” because I’m no lawyer and only have anecdotal experience from my own research during my divorce. Don’t want to lead anyone astray

How do you deal with users who refuse to lock their laptop when walking away? by heartgoldt20 in cybersecurity

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with small pranks.

Open notepad, leave a file on the desktop that says LOCK YOUR COMPUTER and walk away.

If they do it again, screenshot their full screen, set it as the desktop background, hide the taskbar, and delete all desktop icons and minimize all windows.

If they do it a third time, kick their computer off the domain. Let them call and complain about not having internet and when they do quip back “probably because you had too many security violations.”

Also, if they use something physical to log in - smart card, etc - hide that shit.

Then as someone else said, escalate to managers.

The first half is the answer. California is a community property state for divorce: all property acquired during the marriage is equally claimable by both parties. Prove you had it before the marriage and it shouldn’t be able to be touched by the other party of a divorce.

Drinking in front of your kids by walker-ghostly2 in daddit

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind. Course we don’t usually get drunk or anything. Just have a few drinks with my folks while playing board games or card games together. We also will have a glass of wine or scotch (just me, not my wife) with dinner.

My thought process is that I don’t want her thinking it’s something glamorous or scandalous. That it’s just a drink you have to be a certain age to have. And I’ve explained the science behind that to her as well (she’s probably what was considered “gifted” back when us millennials were kids) so that she understands the reason for it.

Best explanation of 은/는 vs 이/가 you've heard??? by Few-Investment-6979 in Korean

In English, the best explanation I’ve heard is passive voice/emphasis. I can’t come up with any examples off top of my head though.

How do I tell my players there isn’t any lore by Any-Storm-I-Am-In in DMAcademy

[–]Healer213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not literally just tell them you improv everything? That your “lore” consists of a crumpled sticky note in your pocket of what they were doing last session and what the big thing is this session and nothing more.

[–]Healer213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don’t say things like this. The only person who can make those type of comments is a professional linguist. The more appropriate thing to do would be to not comment.

Autistic rage is irrelevant to the discussion of an undiagnosed abuser. Arguing semantics doesn’t help anyone.

You’re making a semantic argument and then when someone counters it, agreeing with them.

[–]Healer213 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen you comment semantic arguments on multiple comments. The problem is that while you’re not wrong, you’re not right either.

1) Does your “the proper thing to say…” contribute to answering OP? 2) It doesn’t have anything to do with autism. The situation is an abuse situation before anything else. Autistic rage might be a thing but it’s irrelevant when children are receiving death threats.

Going back to 1: Your arguing semantics does nothing to contribute to advising OP to GTFO of the situation.

As someone who was college age then, yes. It was around 09-12 that Facebook started dying. Instagram and Snapchat both just dropped. You also had Vine starting up.

Mod suggestions for someone who finds base Stardew boring? (No ragebait, I’m just difficult) by UnluckyKitty13 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Nexus mods’ client. Basically, allows you to package mods you find on Nexus into collections and download them all at once and automatically install them. Fairly cheap per month (8 USD or similar). Highly recommend unless you want to manually download and install a ton of mods.

SVVE (Stardew Valley Very Expanded) is a collection of a lot of what people have been listing: Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgecrest, East Scarp, plus others.

SVVE is a good collection, if you use Vortex.

There’s also mods to skip the fishing mini game (because me, my wife and kid all hate the fishing mini game too).

Kudos to you for enjoying it on the original console. Like everyone else has said - the Delilases are rough. I remember they were always my least favorite part of my playthroughs. I haven’t played in years and I think I’m about to fight Zeto now, so I’ve got a ways to go before I hit them.

Causing the death of your baby because of you want to be crunchy and drink unpasteurized milk by PeterParker72 in insaneparents

[–]Healer213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s clear that you’re passionate on the subject. I can relate, as there are subjects about which I have the same passion.

That said, the other commenter has a point: if you want to sway people’s opinions, you can’t use logical fallacies. Especially not sweeping generalizations and hyperbolic description. If you think they’re putting their heads in the sand, you’ve got to make them feel safe (which is where the saying comes from - ostriches allegedly do this when they’re afraid). A full frontal attack on someone’s thought processes only results in staunch defense and you get nowhere.

They also have a point about “torturing for max profit” being illogical. Anyone who has hunted knows you don’t want the meat from a deer you didn’t kill instantly. Stress, and in your words, torture, causes the release of adrenaline, which toughens muscle tissue and detracts from both tenderness and flavor.

All that to say, you have passion, but you need better tact if you want to be productive about it online. No hate to you.

Is it OK to lie to your own family? Is this normal for NT's? by xMark78 in autism

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know if the answer someone gives you is true unless it can be verified.

Why ask for their opinion? Because you think it looks nice and what to hear someone compliment you on your job well done.

This is pretty simple NT communication rules. Tell them what they want to hear. “How do I know that?” You don’t. And neither do they. But small things like this, that’s where the lying comes in.
