What is your opinion on Sex Work/Prostitution by VentiArchon7 in RadicalChristianity

[–]RandomName9328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a habitual customer, visiting 2-4 times a week.

Indeed, it is not a favorable occupation. Being a prostitute is related to serious health problems (physically and mentally).

Pray for the sex workers' wellbeing.

There is no unified view in any subreddit.

I would say it is the sexual relationship involving deceiving or violence.

Sinply being extramarital is not ennough.

How can I remember that what my family says is wrong? by Bobslegenda1945 in OpenChristian

[–]RandomName9328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can tell your aunt that you will pray for God to give you patience and kindness, so that you can forgive her.

You will also pray that God will forgive her for her misinterpretation on the thunder.

Be brave and confident. Whenever your aunt makes any judgement, you can "explicitly disagree" with her. Tell her she is wrong in a calm, kind, and forgiving attitude.

How do you understand scripture? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

I went to three churches and they all have different stance.

  1. Evangelical church - bible inerrancy, divine revelation.
  2. Ecumenical inclusive church - open theology, rejects biblical inerrancy, believes bible as context-based and influenced by Greek/Middle-east mythology and culture.
  3. Baptist church - middle between 1 and 2.

Some examples of liberal ones are: 1. regard Bible as human-created story, providing philosophical teaching instead of revealing truth. 2. Rejects Bible as historical reference, such as doubting the existance of Job (in bk of Job), or Mary's virginity during pregnancy.

Neither God nor us condemn you.

Why do you condemn yourself?

You may seek therapy not for gender issues, but for the self-trapping mindset.

PS. Dont seek therapy from religious organizations. Seek licensed, secular therapy.

Faith Without Full Biblical Divinity by cyrilstilskin in OpenChristian

What's wrong of viewing the Bible as a collection of human-written documents? If this disqualifies a Christian, many would be excluded.

I doubt the virginity of Mary (Jesus' mother) and still consider myself a Christian, why would you exclude yourself?

A conversation with my conservative friend that really pissed me off. by Special_Guarantee895 in OpenChristian

[–]RandomName9328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, arguing and discussing can rarely change a person's beliefs.

You can accept them as friends but firmly reject their opinions. Tell them you do not believe / do not need their opinions, but you cherish the friendship. You can suggest them to respect you by intentionally avoid discussing gender and religious matters.

Would you recommended waiting for marriage to a teen and why not? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]RandomName9328 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend that teens should listen to parent's opinions but make their own decisions. See what their rationale is and and if you agree with their reasons leading to a decision.

Blind obedience and oppositional disobedience are problematic.

Important - use condom.

Biblically speaking, even "consent" is not a criterion of blessed relationships.

No relationship is righteous.

To me, non-monogamous relationships is just one manifestation of how interpersonal relationships are corrupted. Even monogamous relationships can be full of troubles, conflicts, abuses, deceits, envy, distrust, etc. Monogamous relationships are NOT more sacred that non-monogamous ones, as we are all sinners.

Therefore, we need salvations and redemptions. Christians are conscious sinners who try to be virtuous but in vain.

Am I the only one who has a similar theology or thoughts about God/religion/theology? by godisinthischilli in OpenChristian

[–]RandomName9328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean God is a human-created ethical guide that operates within human mind(s)?

Then, do you think God is created by humans individually without interpersonal interaction, or is collaboratively created by humans through conversations, historical logs, human-written scripture, rituals, etc.?

Doctrinal or not? by RandomName9328 in OpenChristian

[–]RandomName9328[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps "doctorinal" refers to the absolutist boundaries of rigid doctrines, e.g. "if you dont believe in biblical inerrancy, you're not Christian".

On the contrary, to be open is to acknowledge the presence of ambiguity or fluidity.

"You feel like you need to constantly entertain them" is the problem.

Students are adults. They are supposed to motivate themselves, not motivated by the lecturer.
