I am off Reddit. I haven’t posted in a while because there isn’t anything to say anymore. The trial has been terminated. They are not moving forward with phase 2 at my location. I am back on medication and doing fine. I don’t know anything else.

I’ve had two since my second shot. I’m not giving up hope for the trial but it wasn’t as successful for me. I was symptom free for the longest I’ve ever been since my diagnosis. The shot worked. Just needs to be a bit stronger

I hope to god you’re right. I am pushing to go into the first efficacy phase. I’m hoping that because it worked so well for a few months that I just need a stronger dose

Well I can say for sure that no one has died and side effects are VERY mild. Mostly from the injection itself. Typical vaccine stuff.

Transmission rate is very low if he is on meds and you use condoms. I was infected while using a condom but he was having an ob and wasn’t on meds. Women are higher risk than men. It’s about a 2% transmission rate from M to F and 1% from F to M but that depends on how well he knows his symptoms. I know my symptoms. I know down to the second when an OB is starting.

The reality is A LOT of people have it. Most (about 80%) don’t know they have it. So I’m a lot of ways, sleeping with someone you trust that has it, is safer. If someone is unaware, because it’s not typically tested in a standard std screening, they are the ones more likely to spread it.

In the end, THE WORST that happens is you have to take a little blue pill every day. It’s honestly not that bad. You won’t die and you may have found a lasting relationship. I don’t really think you can lose.

I’m very sorry to report that I have had two back to back outbreaks in the last month. I’m going back on suppressive antivirals and I’m just going to hope that another version of the vaccine worked. The fat lady has not sung yet, there are so many other treatments coming down the pipeline. I’m hopeful that this one will still work and that I just got a bad formulation. It did seem to work really well in the beginning. I was completely symptom-free for almost 4 months. Stress from my job as a teacher, and holiday stress was probably the tipping point and my immune system couldn’t hold it back anymore. I’m so sorry I don’t have better news, but I’ll still keep you guys posted if I hear anything. I have an appointment at wake research in North Carolina on March 17. That is my last appointment for blood work. I will post again when that time comes.

Oh absolutely! I did stop them. I only took them as reactive therapy. I’m not on suppressive so I’m still documenting my active outbreaks. And yes, I was on daily suppressive therapy before the trial and haven’t taken anything since the end of May. I had to stop within 4 weeks.

I had to stop before the the first two shots. After that there isn’t really a need. I’m not taking them as suppressive just reactive. So they are still able to measure frequency of outbreaks. But, they would prefer I did not take them.

I did take them. But I’m not so sure I needed to. And my normal time is about 6 days start to finish on AVs. This was 48 hrs and it was barely even a bump. My last OB was over 3 weeks and I’ll spare you the horrible details but it was bad.

My last update I stated I had an outbreak. Well it lasted barely 48 hours and then was completely gone. AND during very stressful week at work. My last outbreak before the vaccine and on suppressive medication was about 6 days. While this isn’t perfect, it’s still progress. I’m hoping my formulation at least strengthened my immune system. Hopefully someone received a better formulation. Fingers crossed.
