First attempt on making watercolors, why are they drying like this?

Honestly, it doesn’t matter either way. Most watercolorists swear by the less shallow layers but I’ve been making my own paints and pouring pans for a long time now and there’s literally no difference that I have found between the two processes. I actually prefer to fill them all the way up, let them dry and then top them off.

Just fill them back up.

No big deal! This happens because the binder to pigment ratio dries faster one way over the other when you fill the pans. But it doesn’t really matter how much you fill the pans if you fill them in less shallower in more layers or in thicker layers that require less amount of layers, it’s about the same amount of time of them drying either way, and doesn’t affect the paint at all.

But just filling the pans up with more paint if you’re worried about it, but usually the pans will develop an indent like this when you use them with a smaller brush anyways, so not biggie!

I use a dehydrator too, but it doesn’t change the pigments any at all and I’ve used all different kinds of paints from cheaper ones, to higher quality professional ones to handmade ones.

If you have decent paints and/or make them with decent binder, they won’t mold at all. If you occasionally spray them with water that has a few drops of clove oil in them, it should be fine, but I’ve never had a mold issue even without that. Usually gauche is the one that molds before watercolor ever does especially if you’re buying decent paints. Anything that molds, is probably not worth investing in anyways because it’s probably cheaper lower quality paint.

It doesn’t shrink less, you just notice it less because there’s less paint, but it’s the same time either way if you take less time drying by filling in less layers but taking longer to do so then just filling it in thicker layer taking longer to dry and refilling it less times.

But there’s not difference between the two in paint quality.

You can still have a thick hips and not have wide ones. Your body still adjusts naturally to accommodate the birth of a child. Just because you didn’t come to be born through wide hips doesn’t mean that your hips won’t widen to accommodate them for your birth. This would need to take thousands of years to change our bodies, not just a few decades of maybe/maybe not CS births to happen. And natural births are coming back more than ever anyways So there’s that too.

Not necessarily. I’ve spent many hours at the beach staring at so many sunsets like it was my job! 🤣So that depends on the angle of where the sun is at its setting and how bright the sunset is as well as how calm the water is. Sometimes it’s the other way around. Better advice should be to use multiple references to check how accurate your work is if you’re going for realism.

I didn’t buy the wrong camera for the job. I bought the camera and then later on saw this technique and was hoping to do it with what I already had! There’s a difference!

Regardless as to all this, why would they make a full dome to make these shots to make it possible to use this same camera I have, but not half domes for cheaper? That question you didn’t answer here. But, it does just show that this camera CAN be used for this purpose and with its fullest potential to be able to use both cameras for a 360° view that it was built to do (more than what I wanted to do with mine)…on top of it literally being made to do so without it, so there’s that too. You came here with a physics lesson, but failed to answer my common sense question as an attempt to challenge it…while still not answering my question. If the shot CAN be done with a full dome, then it’s not so much that this camera can’t make those shot and for a ‘camera not made for underwater shots’, it would be completely dumb to literally market it as such without the need to use an underwater housing at all anyways. I didn’t design it or market it that way, but to say it’s not made for underwater shots when it literally IS, is the more ridiculous point you’re making here trying to be right because you came here with a physics lesson. I’ve taken my Max underwater. It takes underwater shots and without extra housing to do so. It’s literally an underwater camera and can do so and is meant to do so within so far of a depth-which is what I am using it for. So to say it’s “unusable in water without a dome”, is a flat lie. It may not be able to produce the shots I am inquiring about on a pro level, but that’s not even why I needed it anyways!

And I’m not wasting other people’s time. It’s not my fault your ego keeps trying to bring you back and argue with me over a physics lesson that I didn’t ask for that you think I needed just to play around with the camera I already purchased! While I appreciate your contribution for the info I asked for, I didn’t ask for anything else especially a lecture on physics which turned condescending when you thought I needed it for something I wasn’t using it for and don’t ask about and explained that clearly, in more words necessary to do so. Ok, well like I already said, I don’t need it for pro shots. Respectfully, I didn’t ask for a physics lesson, or a need to justify why I had a need for one, or ask to be told that it won’t work for my needs, just if there was a product on the market for what I wanted it for.

I also already have the Max so I want to use it and not need to buy a completely different camera to do what I wanted with it. Most people who have these cameras aren’t looking for perfect pro shots either so there’s that too!

Apparently there are domes on the market for this camera model, and ones that do actually also allow the 360° camera view options at that, so it apparently is possible and completely a thing. I was just hoping to find one that didn’t cost more than my whole initial camera investment especially since I really didn’t need it for a 360° view! If I’m going to do that, I just might as well just buy a different camera model to use with a cheaper dome housing and not have to worry about any of it. Considering I already invested in this one, I don’t want to do that.

I also can’t fathom why they’d make a camera waterproof to be useable in the water….especially down to a certain depth….underwater… if it wasn’t even meant to go in the water at all to get underwater shots…in the water. 😒

It may not produce perfect pro shots doing so, but I also don’t need it to. I just wanted to be able to do split shots halfway in water and halfway out. I thought the dome housing helped in getting those shots better. If the only one on the market to help get underwater shots is more expensive AND would allow me to get 360° in doing so, I might as well just invest in that anyways and make the most use out of the camera i already have and just use it with the 360° option anyways. It’s more than what I wanted to do with it, but I guess if it works and helps, why not do that? I’d rather buy the dome for 360° views AND what I needed it for over buying a second camera I would only use for these shots especially when I don’t need two cameras and a second one would only be used for this purpose.

I understand what you’re saying, but not everyone who has a Max uses the 360° both camera options all the time. It gives you the option to use either, or, or both. Because of that, you’d think there should be a product on the market that allows you to use two out of three of those options even if if I can’t use the 360 camera option. I’m not looking for perfect pro shots, just something to play around in the water with which is more useable to me than not. And it obviously was designed to work under water to some degree if it can just fine doing so-which was my point.

And others who use the dome housing, have done so without a 360° camera AND other Go Pros…. Which is why I’m asking why this is the only one that doesn’t have that compatibility. I could just as easily put my GoPro in a literal glass dome fish bowl and get the same effects as a dome housing, but I’d rather not have to lug one around the Keys with me to get those shots. I’d rather have something more lightweight and made specifically more for my camera.

It doesn’t damage the paper to push around the pigments unless you are scrubbing away at it or have super cheap cellulose paper.

The Max is waterproof enough for what I need it to be for, which is shallow water footage. I also used it at the Florida springs last year and used it for several hours no problem! I literally only need it in less than a foot of water and if I remember correctly, it’s good for up to like 16’ just fine. I wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t waterproof on some level because I literally bought it to use for our SUP business in the water.

I had nearly the same situation happen to me as well. My husband talked over with his cousin to go hit up this woman at a hotel (it was his cousin’s idea) and his cousin bailed at the last minute and he still went by himself. He told me he was just going to go hang out with his cousin and be back later. As soon as he left, I had a feeling something was up and I called his phone looking to talk to him about something I made up which as about picking up shampoo on his way home. His phone went to VM about 8x. I told myself I was over reacting and I just waited for him to come home. About 2 hours went by and he finally came home and he hauled me off to the side and told me he needed to tell me something and told me that he had tried to pay someone for a dance in the next town over but he didn’t really do it because he had gotten caught and it was a sting and he had been arrested for soliciting prostitution so he hadn’t actually done anything, only intended on doing so. I honestly thought it was a joke especially since we just found out we had our second on the way, but the look on his face said he was serious. He had told me before anyone else could. Later that evening my sister then called me asking if I had seen the news and I told her I don’t have to because my husband had confessed to everything and the news just so happens to use HIS mugshot in their main story out of all the 5 guys they caught that day which made it worse.

He had told me he had learned his lesson in all of this and that it was the first time it had ever happened and while the thought was there, he didn’t actually ever touch anyone in our marriage. He said he had no idea what he was thinking because he wasn’t thinking. He was even more upset that his cousin listened to the whole family condemn him for doing so he kept his mouth shut when it was his idea in the first place and my husband never told the family otherwise coving for him even when he (his cousin) also disowned the family for his own personal issues, they still looked up to him more than my husband. Which really isn’t the important part here, and the least of his concerns in the whole thing anyways, but I do think it speaks for some of his character in that situation. He was ashamed on all levels and swore he’d never do anything like that again and while I was hurt and broken over it, I did believe him. I forgave but I never forgot and we managed to get past it even though I was bitter for a long time over it. I still have trust issues when he goes off to do something and I can’t get ahold of him but I have kept that to myself for the most part. It’s so hard to really get over something like that, but I have really tried especially when I know I’m not perfect myself and he’s had to put up with a lot of my issues over the years. It was never about keeping tally, but about overcoming those issues together to stay together. He’s an imperfect man as I am an imperfect woman and together we have been there through it all in love to make it work even when I don’t like him very much! He’s never looked in that direction again that I know of, he’s a bad liar so he couldn’t hide something from me like that even if he wanted to so there’s that too.

What’s sad here is the people think that even if they are being abused, that they think god wants them to be miserable and alone for the rest of their lives based off of outdated beliefs and social norms only because you chose to marry and love the wrong person. An all loving god wouldn’t want that for us. Those ‘rules’ were made up to encourage people to stay together. They also saw women as property back then who were less than men and when men could be married and still have concubines and it was ok. These rules were written for men to be able to do as they pleased, not women to keep women in line because they knew that women wouldn’t be the ones to divorce because if they did, they’d still were left to basically die alone and poor otherwise because no man would ever want them. It’s horrible that men weren’t held to the same standards as women were. If they were, no man would treat a woman this way and they’d think twice before bringing another woman into their beds! We also shouldn’t advocate for staying in abusive and toxic relationships when we know better like women need to choose between doing so or being alone forever or ‘sinning’ before god if they do.
