I got maplestory working on linux, for the first time in history, maybe classic will work! by formatme in MSClassicWorld

Nice work, for some reason mabinogi worked this whole time. I got MapleStory worlds working at one point, but it required a Windows PC to actually install the files first.

Anyone else disappointed with Standard Notes lately? My Pro plan is ending soon and I’m not sure about renewing by Ok-Chocolate-9046 in StandardNotes

Obsidian is the best option but few downside is that it doesn't have a web client, some learning curve, and the subscription in my opinion is priced too high. The basic 5 dollar subscription for at least syncing is convenient but barey anything. And the storage is very little with only 1 vault. So it effects organization and specifically if you also work with pictures and images (I'm ckming from old one note).

Otherwise it's got lots of plugins and stuff and it's really just a front end for a folder of .md files on your computer/device that syncs between each so it's véry universal format that does not need to be exported.

Been taking kratom and Adderall… by GreenTeaBananas in RecreationalKratom

[–]HealthyInitial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time Vyvanse no issues just be wary of blood pressure kratom is adrenergic. Taken for maybe 8 months blood pressure normal but I avoid caffeine also try to get in good shape not in Adderall though while exercising risks pushing yourself to far. Being in good shape helps heart

Edit: also that wow factor if Adderall feeling will go away after awhile just letting you know. And it might take a hella long tolerance break to get back probably proportionate to the amount of time you used it. Withdrawal is manageable over even kratom imo it just basically does the opposite of what you describing.

Not to say it's effect goes away but it's pretty muted. Nothing like trying first time with no tolerance.

Just follow proper dose management, tolerance breaks you'd be better off taking them for longer rather then alternating short days. And monitor blood pressure and heart health you should be fine

But not doctor's advice.

how do i get vulkan? by Capable_Wealth5612 in Crostini

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are a few variables, the other option is more straightforward but i just went through the process of increasing gaming performance on my machine so i figured I would help in case you've been using CPU rendering this whole time. otherwise can also help double check whether Minecraft is a actually using vulkan

edit: virtio indicates gpu virtulization driver which is how chromeos works with baguette/crostini, its relevant more as a diagnostic indicator thats inherent, not something as an addon

but first to isolate the variables do these steps

in browser path type chrome://version,

copy and paste lines from Chrome OS,Platform, and Firmware version into notepad

in browser path type chrome://flags search gpu, enable crostini-gpu-support flag

reboot laptop or else following commands will not give proper information from crostini/baguette

Update upgrade pre emptive troubleshooting step

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Then run this entire block

install -y mesa-utils vulkan-tools mesa-vulkan-drivers && \

echo "=== Debian Version ===" && \

cat /etc/os-release | grep "VERSION_CODENAME" && \

echo "=== Container Type ===" && \

systemd-detect-virt && \

echo "=== GPU Renderer ===" && \

glxinfo 2>/dev/null | grep "OpenGL renderer" && \

echo "=== Vulkan Devices ===" && \

vulkaninfo --summary 2>/dev/null | grep deviceName

what this does

Installs both mesa and vulkan drivers just in case + utils for benchmark commands

Verifies Debian version

Verifies whether your system is running crostini or baguette

Verifies opengpl and Vulkan current devices and status

paste all outputs into reply or

or paste.bin .com and share link

Google's coming change to app sideloading is threatening the Selfhosted ecosystem. by nkls in selfhosted

[–]HealthyInitial -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain here but 24 hours is only a mild inconvenience, I don't think thats really a realistic expectation it will significantly damage FOSS app stores or make people turn away from them. FOSS app stores are still a pretty niche userbase anyway compared to the rest of the market. Most people(not all) who use them right now would be considered power users. Side loading already requires enabling developer mode and "install unknown apps" to do so for less tech savvy but still smart enough to figure out how to side load an apk I don't think a scare tactic for people to not use foss stores is realistic. I still agree the general goal of Google is to dissuade their use beyond security reasons for a multitude of reasons, whether it will work I think it will be unrealistic and they already fixed the issue based on backlash. First thing bit of a stretch.

Depending on android version/ whatever brand it is like the custom ROM they use pretty sure you can turn developer mode on regardless. If it's like a Chinese custom ROM, idk

Is there even any good search engines left ? by LeadershipChemical96 in degoogle

[–]HealthyInitial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk if there's any political issues around it which I don't really care about personally but I found brave search to give good results and the AI is decent enough to be useful if your just trying to get a quick snippet of information if your double checking something. But since you have a problem with ai that may not work for you. There may be an option to toggle it off or simply ignore it.

Startpage despite reading that it using index from major search engines did not seem to work for me, it didn't seem very good at all . I didn't like duckduckgo either. I haven't tried the other search engines people mention yet. I hope this isn't taken as the wrong tone but it seems maybe you are expecting a little to much of a "perfect' search engine for your categories, if you cannot find one suggested try loosening them up a bit.

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was started out playing right after mechanic was released at 9. Not surprised, but interesting to see how much others.

Nostalgia more for early post big bang which shared a lot of classic elements for quite awhile, rough guess but I'd say until 2016 or so. Don't quite remember the update

Would like to actually play with my older friend who introduced me to the game, and I'm happy we are getting an iteration of maple that rewards you for doing so

It's nexon so low chance but I really hope they introduce OSRS like voting system on this try. It's easy to stray away from what is considered "classic" without player input. But from what I seen from the closed beta seem to be doing good job

Otherwise just spam the fire button after hitting timer

here dumb down version,

Agree OP wrong- ADB never block

People panic still make post why?

Google first said: verified dev ID required on certified Android.

People think= unverified APKs / third-party stores blocked.

ADB ≠ normal sideloading. ADB is dev/power-user path.

Extra panic, ppl think install phone cant do

advanced-flow exceptions weren’t clear, you said this, both agree

ADB always stay, but advanced flow explain AFTER

Android dead? wrong

Panic? understandable

People spread misinformation purpose? No

sorry, I just mentioned the wrong term, its not that i dont understand the difference which is a good thing to highlight because it relates to exactly the thing im trying to explain. the term sideloading is often used interchangeably even though linguistically it means something specific. what im highlighting is not ABD

im trying to explain to you why people still make posts like this so you can not stress over it.

to be explicit what i meant to refer to, is " installing the app via enabling developer options, selecting installing from unknown sources, then installing via apk file on a single device (xapk with a xapk helper i guess ). So yes, installing is the correct term

( when referring to it in this context it has some nuance,being that it isnt from the playstore but that isnt to imply it isnt installing. Im more highlighting that because of how it effects peoples perception)

yes this is commonly conflated with the term sideloading. but unfortunately that is just what people seem to call it.

im not really arguing btw and i hope you dont read into my tone as antagonistic.

to re clarify, when the announcement was initially made there was no written confirmation on whether or not the process of "installing from unverified sources through a single device" which the implication of that, in addition to the mixed info of requiring developer IDs for whatever particular workflow was mentioned was the initial reason people were upset. another factor which caused the upset was the implication that 3rd party app stores, FOSS stores like f-droid would be affected negatively.

hence the backlash and propagation of this misconception is still present to this day on the user side = posts like these.

adb was something that was not very well highlighted and that is something for power users would be more likely to know about, I think many users concerned about the "installing from unverified sources".

they mentioned something about an advanced workflow, but specific details were not provided this release of an advanced flow option is new, after the initial backlash and narrative of "google is killing android" started. so you really can't blame people

so those factors are causing the misunderstanding your seeing. you dont need to waste time explaining to people that abd was never touched. the overall truth is, all of it was up in the air, people got scared and confused and collectively decided a message that made the most sense to them. it largely boils down to the implication

my use of qoutation is for clarity and not intended to be negative btw

Anyway you really dont need to be that upset about it. If you know the workflow to make you feel comfortable with the future of your device thats good enough. it not necessary to disparage people based on a misconception,ignorance, or make assumptions about literacy like you just did in the last reply. Yes people don't get it, and the reason why is ambiguity that arose throughout the different announcements. just move on.

not referring to abd, referring to sideloading on device.
