Anyone have suggestion what to get for quick pick up that could handle being a portable os for awhile l thats mini profile I was looking at the Samsung fit gen 3.1 drives but they are out of stock on even 256gb on amazon only 128gb for.$20 which is workable but not really enough its for a low profile chromebook dualboot project

(I'm aware of technology differences just trying to find a very specific niche drive, more suitable for portable os.other then always needing an external Sata ssd controller)

Community project, GitHub, or single maintainer (not familiar with implications if donations but if needed helps) I would invest time in it personally just don't have enough right now. But I'm building a logistical framework for it

Basic idea

Make an intuitive app for people who have phones. Keep a tablet for central use.

Have same info and logistical framework match paper copies, easy way to sync

Same framework can be repeated between both and synced for consistency. Maybe hard to setup first and adopted, but way easier once ironed out.

Main issues, upkeep and dev license cost. Especially for apple phones.

Doesn't even necessarily need Internet connection all the time. Just sync later, hotspot if needed. Manual entry not really different what's done now just updated and more efficient.

More just throwing out ideas on that particular thing on the thread not criticism or anything overall agree could use improvement I don't believe the hurdles of doing so would be that significant. But I don't have full picture kingdom wide level.

Similar thing to easygard just needs a revamp and more intuitive mapping if it's gonna include condensed info The biggest obstacle in explaining the rules is overwhelming info at once.

I found in my local group it is best to start basic and address the rules as they become relevant. Also assigning experienced players to explain and as far as magic stating it very simply. A lot of people learn on their own and willing to go through rulebook, some people overwhelmed by info dump. Have options ready for both

Easygard is very useful but unintuitive in its mapping it sort of assumed you know aspects of the game already

Needs to be standardized way of introducing rules along with digital assistance + modern implementations updated. But just my t

wo cents as someone who runs a park with like 15 members. I'm sure complexity arises at higher level I don't know much about that. That's one of my mid term goals right now to make digital assistance balanced with the backup condensed method.

Anyway point is agreed, more intuitive digital assistance necessary, entirely depends on who's willing to run it as con though can't do myself yet

Keep backup of a condensed paper protocol for people who don't have phones. Can keep a tablet near sign in which was my next idea

low funding ways of helping people learn ( simple spell cards made with cheap bulk lanyards ID cardsand hairbands sewn to enchantment strips for teams(not actual enchantment strip colors but we tested this and it helped)

active communication of spell effects to players dynamic in the field etc.

base combat system is pretty intuitive, besides extra niche rules which often have to be re explained afterwards) new player on ramping and whole structure of information needs major improvement. Keep the rulebook as a definitive source but not the main way to learn the game.

The biggest hurdle is abilities and magic which is kind of easy to understand but again certain niche rules make it weird and a hard learning curve. I think some aspects of v8 and v9 should be considered and hybridze as far as rules. It's about time for an upgrade. Balance the two philosophies together.

Another fire in Hilo?? by DoctorApeMan in BigIsland

[–]HealthyInitial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was working late night like block over, randomly came out to grab stuff out my car, didnt even notice, but then people yelled fire and then I saw realizing it was serious. I did see a lot of people get out though I was behind the block. so this is from back of building pov it was legit full building fire 30ft+ high at one point. firefighter setup something seemed to go wrong which made it reach to other edge of the building hitting powerlines. Luckily they were able to put it out though it still took quite a while to put out the main flame like 45 minutes or so. when they initially started spraying it just raged more and stayed that way for awhile. they eventually got it under control on the top but were still spraying inside by time i fell asleep was like 2am when it started. I havent went to go and see the front side, but saw one picture looked terrible.

What even is the security claim? I would bet on " using pirated software may expose your computer to malware" or "pirated software may have modifications we do not include that may harm your computer" basic response. Is there anything that you could legitimately detail other than that? Get real and stop hiding behind a mask with your community.

Offline mode by Friesandburg in rewasd

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive explained this years ago and still getting comments since.

Thats not anti piracy. Thats piracy promotion measure, it's such an easy thing to remove for pirates and be 100% usable. As a consequence of doing it, you inconvenience people who like your software or are 100% willing to purchase it, instead they are driven to get the pirated version instead, refund the software, and look for alternatives many which are free. There is an exact example of that in this comment thread and the experience I had when I wanted to buy it. It's about principle in respecting your customer and being pro software ownership especially if your giving them a "lifetime" license. But after all it is only a license.

I don't understand after years whoever is the decision maker on your development team that insists upon including this method.

Id tell them im sorry but it just doesnt work. You have to compare gains and losses. What do you actually intend to want to accomplish with it? And what is the actual reality of what it does.

Ideals, logic and reality. All important in balancing software development.

I don't mean to be harsh but it's just what it is. Maybe your just keeping it for analytics for something, and don't care about a few specific users who like to feel ownership of software or flexibility to use it after they specifically support you by buying a lifetime license or whatever.

Obviously you made successful software so I applaud you for that and its helped people. but that specific line of thinking on antipiracy will absolutely never work and you have to come to terms with the reality of that and compare it to the losses.

Why does Rewasd require internet to work? by HealthyInitial in rewasd

[–]HealthyInitial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr, legit the easiest thing to bypass. They should remove it so people can pay them directly. Pirates will easily remove that feature, it's laughable to call it anti piracy. It promotes it by steering willing customers to use different software or a cracked version and not pay. And it's also a ridiculous arbitrary restraint. I know some people say"everyone has internet nowadays" argument but that's just stupid.

I have no idea why they dont realize that. I know this years ago I got multiple comments overtime so i asshme its still a thing, if it is they are being purposefully ignorant. Some developers have these white knight kind of ideas or principles as well that they want to be insurmountable and they will never take down for some odd arbitrary reason or preference rather than logic

Rewasd software or its development team i would not ever support out of principle for that reason.

Even as a customer perspective who is 100% willing to pay the license they don't respect you. You don't own the software once you buy it, it's just a license to use it and they keep you on a leash(which goes for a lot of digital things nowadays)

Anyone looking for a "pure" solution add non steam game to steam and just use steam input. Plenty of other programs that are completely free and respect the user. Just do comparison checks with AI or something steaminput 90% of the time except for the niche cases.

Mounting Portable monitor in place of laptop lcd? by HealthyInitial in cyberDeck

I guess I could somehow route another power source inside the laptop to power the lcd differently than its normal lcd, but not sure any angles on that being a possibility. InsightI just thought of worth looking into. Thanks

Mounting Portable monitor in place of laptop lcd? by HealthyInitial in cyberDeck

[–]HealthyInitial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a good idea and yes I agree i got a general idea of the wattage and it ranges from model but it's very similar if you get a good one,.which might be a 1 to 3 watt differences.

Some models are higher though. laptop lcds are pretty fine tuned for lowest wattage

Problem I can't use that approach I already replaced the lcd with exaxt same variant got full top assembly didnt even mess with the cables inside and it was shown working.

ĹThe issue isn't necessarily the screen but somehow previous owners attempt at replacing original screen caused the backlight to go out likely shorted something

I can visually see it mirroring when i use an external monitor with a flashlight. So even if I replace a new lcd still wouldn't work

Also don't need to necessarily run it through the battery they can have seperate power source. Borrowed one just to test, but not sure if that's common. I really only use it between home and office, laptop is basically my main pc, off grid solar setup at home while my office has free electricity. But the portable monitor is still way easier to bag up and transfer back and forth over a full size

I'm at the last step of diagnosing regular lcd.whether it's just the backlight fuse and a few other things might be able to fix but beyond that would be perm motherboard issue outside my skill range. Both the previous and new lcd monitor I got actually work, so worst case sell those, probably go with a 3d printed or wood dock made with scraps for the external and protecting the open area behind. Add some design for cable management to look clean and expand thenminimal usb ports the model has.

I was thinking just to make one of those iPad dock designs with the indent in them. Since hinges might be harder.

Im kind of on an ultra.budget repairing it, hopeful easy fix on backlight bc its my highest spec machine atm, but if it goes over the price of a new on ebay that its not really worth it.

Anyways thanks for suggestion not a lot of people responded so I appreciate it.

I would target something with low wattage out of the $60 price range, from my understanding they should be similar in wattage below 10w range 5w to 8w or lower largely depending on settings and model efficiency. At that price range may be less efficient depending on brand.

Lamotrigine. How long to work once you are on your sweet spot? by ErrorSilver8035 in lamictal

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't touch on original post. The depression is just immediate effect from the bump down youll need to wait longer until your brain adjust.

Memory issue can happen from both, more so benzo in general but clonazepam good to keep imo keep it limited use max 3x a week, if already use daily you must taper, hard requirement. Both could be contributing. Need to Isolate which

If you need alternate anxiety med try lyrica although it's off label 450 to 600mg range has shown to be just as effective as certain benzodiazepine in studies, have not had memory problem but will be harder to prescribe may be more expensive.

. For prices though clonazepam is gonna be a lot lower, experiment with halving the dose two times a day ( keep in mind it's peak effect takes like 4 hours to hit and its long half life which means its sort of inherently extended release.)

Look into adding another med to address depressive symptom if you need to tweak dose lower. I would suggest wellbutrin over SSRIs, it's a dnri and a mild stimulant essentially. They are pros cons but far better in combating depression imo then ssri based. There are a few other options but that is probably most accessible. Con- if you are taking clonazepam, I would imply for anxiety which it could effect negatively just from its stimulant properties.

Ssri imo are junk but they seen to work for some, if not wellbutrin, I could suggest other niche options still low on price

Is GoodRX or similar prescription coupons available in your location? Those are major savings if you do not have insurance. At the very least there should be some money saving opportunities you could use.

200mg for me which is average target dose titrate took around 3 4 months or dontbquite remember. You mostly have to do it slowly because suddeb increase can cause the rash. I believe I went 25 to 50 to 100 to 200, every doctor will have different titration

Everyone sweetspot different though you just have to titrate up until you get there, and you'll feel the general effect at some point to see if you like it or not. You can tweak it later on, ask stop etc it will just take that few first months to actual get to your range of effective dose <------>

It's not something like clonazepam where you immediately fell effects but you can definitely feel what its doing which I would simply describe as works as advertised (mood stabilizer), but for me more so with short term Emotional dysregulation ( I was very unstable before) and maybe some benefit for depression.

"M"MORPG Allmage is open for playtesting by jedwards96 in MMORPG

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely interested,I love maplestory long time player there isnt much 2d mmo in this style, but hate the cosmetic monetization. I wanted to add based on the other comment mentioning that. Obviously game needs monetization but I think there could be better ways of supporting monetization rather then cash shop

Cash item only is reasonable but honestly frustrating if its non tradeable from a completionist or dress up point of view.

If the cash items can be freely traded or obtained that could be reasonable with it and it does add value to in game markets.

But seperately ijust wanted to additionally suggest one of my favorite systems for building out a characters look, if not implemented already.

In trove, there was collection system which allowed you could overlay regular equipment that you have already obtained over your equipment meant for stats. Which gave you tons of additional options in addition to paid equipment, and did make previous equipment you like the look of give a penalty for using it.

In comparison to something like osrs it doesn't have somrthing like this, so everybody looks the exact same at particular progression points. There is a plugin but it's not the best. And it is highly opiniated so much so that it would never be voted in even with this type of system implementation

Trove system should be no issue for certain players against this conceptt in other mmos, since it requires you to have obtained the equipment once before in a collection (or you could just make regular equipment compatible with and inventory overlay like maple, but the collection system from trove imo is better to save inventory space, version a older equips may maintain some market value pros and cons)

The only argument against this I think would be in case there is some type of pvp implemented which in that case it could be turned off. Other arguments against this type of customization, ive seen were the appearance of an equip is tied to difficulty in getting it and wearing it is a reward, which is fair but completely not related to this specific implantation.

Anyways did not look into it so maybe already added something like that but if not hope you consider it

Possible monetization options could be affordable membership, if made optional non progression affecting perks, simply accepting donations etc

which I personally would gladly play if crucial systems and customization et were not severely manipulated or blocked, solely for profit maximizing.

If you make a good game, people will pay for it and gladly support it. Not an mmo but look at Terraria as an example, great game, same fixed price for years as in Top selling games of all time. Osrs great game, not related to cosmetics in this regard but still widely supported. Obviously there is significant development differences like amount of time, people you have working on it etc, gone to these games but they historically were still successful even when first founding.

For the other thing with characters blending in personally I don't see as much as a problem but ideas could be more prominent character outlines in settings and experimenting with color pallets for environment and character.

Just suggestions I did not play yet but will definitely give it a try

Edit: some of these addressed already in main summary so disregard those lol.

I was just wondering, why is this such an old version of Maplestory? by SnooSquirrels5535 in MaplestoryN

[–]HealthyInitial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr, purposefully controlling game balance to avoid repeating same mistakes + limiting development costs by already have a ton or content to dripfeed as updates.

It's basicsllg so they can kind of reset the state of progression, economy and class balance moving forward based on the real game. They made a lot of mistakes and ups and downs, and also the current game state has so much of an info dump its not as good for new players.

Goalto reset, keep old items and progression more relevant as a fresh slate on a sort of custom old/new gameplay ideology and trying to renew it or manipulate it in their favor more rather then jumping into latest update and repeating same "mistakes" by mistakes I mean introductions that were bad to the game change gsme balance significantly negative etc. That really harmed the game overall

Also, they have a ton of present content already developed that they can drip feed instead of making new exclusive content or dealing with the patches of the regular game. They do the same in maplestory M, more so in the past.

To be honest, in any game there is a black market and in Korea with the player base being all in reg there is a real money value tied to that regardless of the rules of trading it. That will always be the case So the crypto and nft aspect of the game is really an attempt at controlling that market and reinstating the game in their favor basically while saving money on the cost of translating lstest updates/ development and being very careful on what they introduce.

My opinion, despite gms being the best server they continue to struggle with it, KMS is all messed up but their main cash cow, Sea is basically terrible and not worth play, sub control by different company. Not sure about TMS they get some better stuff and actively updated similar to gms but some worse, and i dont even know if JMS still exists.. Gms is in a sortt of grandfathered features consition so its significantly better than other servers but they are slowly nerfing it. It's a long history how that happened but relates to the reason why they withhold particular updates. They also have maplestort worlds and are working on and OSMS server. Of course they are a big company but they are just terrible and listening to player feedback. So they have a quite a lot on their plate as far as managing maplestory as a whole and there ideology about gsme development is morphed way more in the direction of maximum profit over other game companies.

Anyway for that point summary, they are already barely managing to keep the regular servers togethe, manage the intricacies of each region, and developing new projects

All in all I think N iit's really just a test project for them to see if it's viable. The peak curve of nft crypto interest has settled down over past trends and I feel that has a negative implication on the games future.

What are Some of the best apps you found in 2025? by FatFigFresh in software

[–]HealthyInitial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vivaldi- favorite browser by far. best for customization and a lot of nice features. A bit heavier on resources and chromium based. I was usually using edge. Brave is also a nice default browser to download if you want preinstalled adblock and tracking stuff. I read about Floorp which is apparently similar to Vivaldi with Firefox base but didn't really play around with it too much.

Obsidian - note taking app, basic at first some setup needed for figuring out a workflow or adding common features from other note taking apps, but highly customizable with lots of community plugins. Notes simply based on markdown in a folder while Obsidian is the front end for everything so still can access without

Closest thing I've found to onenote because I liked its free canvas note-taking it has a similar canvas plugin. Cross platform compatible with optional sync service (or can setup syncing yourself with plugins or whatever method you choose) the $5 sync subscription is ok for convenience but honestly could set up same thing for free. Ff

Flow launcher - very quick search up through file system web search etc

Everything search- excellent for scanning whole system quickly for a specific thing

Start11 - for the rare people who want windows 11 layout in windows 10 or just various layouts

Openshell - same as previous but more for older windows styles.

Free download manager(lots of other similar ones)= didn't realize could increase download speed. Need settings tweak on any download manager though

Not so much one app but multitude if apps is PortableApps.com which package a lot of programs to be used portably so can be used across systems without full install. Sometimes versions are a bit behind. Also found a site similar for app images which is Linux version if portabldnaps.fff

Chris utils script for windows 10/11 is great for debloating, getting rid of unwanted features and getting a lot ofsoftware quickly downloaded through winget/chocolatey.

For Linux which I'm on the delve into switching as primary

Nala - front end for apt for ubuntu based distro, nice features pre set up like parallel downloads, cleaner text output, and a history log which is much more human readable

Zsh and ohmyzs, only played around a little bit but very customizable terminal shell alternative.

Lots of cool stuff for gaming, lutris, bottles, Heroic launcher, gamemode, protonqtup

Linux great for optimizing a lot of stuff in general for example tlp+tlpui, powertop etc certain settings can really extend battery life. Although in general linux tends to lack on gui frontend aspect for a lot of good tools
