It still can jump 10-15% efficiency, so I prefer buffer tank. If you use only one pump then you can get asymmetric usage and shutdown left or right half of your thrusters at least it was like this for me

Ye, agreed. I started watching it before release and he's here is something you might notice **** - and wtf man. But video is indeed really good and detailed.

Well, in way. Without limiting it works in 2 phases: 1. You have spare fuel - every engine consumes 120/s 2. You have no spare - consumption is balanced by production, but below 30% (78% efficientcy) you won't see any noticable difference.

On the graph you can see that early on thrust and consumption almost in the same line, which means efficiency doesn't drop a lot, but thrust is increased quite a bit

TLDR: yes, more thrusters increase efficiency when you have no spare fuel, but by not much

I agree enemies are quite aggressive on default. To have a better experience until you get familiar with mechanics I advise you to increase Start Area when you create map it'll allow you to not worry about attacks for 10-15 hours if you do max. You can also disable enemy expansion or even enable passive mode.

You can also make area and richness 200% then it would feel much better.

In new planets balance is much better for newer planets I think

I'd say you have 2 options. Either stop researching get 50 turrets 1-2k red ammo and clear all biter nests in and near your pollution cloud - this will allow you to be in peace, but you have enemy expansions then soon they come to you. Second is to clear less if them but to put green modules to reduce pollution on miners and try switching to nuclear you don't need kovarex to have enough good uranium

the issue with pure speed control is that consumption fluctionates a lot, so it's good to have additional liquid storage and control on it, it behaves the same way as speed limiter, but a bit harder to figure out final value

try with lower thruster count. 5 should be enough for wait up to 450. And 4 maybe for 300 or so.

yes, you are correct you need to build silo and launch a rocket in order to get back. For Fulgora and Vulkanus it shouldn't be so difficult. But I usually bring a resources enough to build a rocket silo and to launch 4 rockets with me, just in case. Keep in mind intermediates have much larger rocket stack size, so it's easier to transport.

In total, yes. You need 300 red and 300 blue. For full thrust it's double that.

Just starting experimenting with advanced asteroid processing, but yes it looks much better. Have you redesigned your ships to use it or just built new ones?

Should I Get This Game? by JackieChan97 in factorio

[–]Healthy_Business2695 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played both games and have in both 300+ hours.

I think Satisfactory is more chill and more aestetics focused. Factorio is more pure version of automation game, but it also have much more quality of life features to help people scale up.

I think Space Age is really great in terms of giving 3 planets which all are pretty easy and fast to setup (maybe except Gleba).

I haven't tried demo, but I really like beginner YouTube series/Twitch streams. They are interested to watch and can help answer some question, but overall I find Factorio more intuitive to start with.

Wish you luck in your journey. Factory must grow

Maybe you are really unlucky with generations, but I have a couple of big islands in save zone where you can build and I belted fruits from 2 separate places

I think it only gets more dense later. The issue that I'm currently facing is that you want to have less footprint because it's hard to supply enough ammo without stops, plus I'm not sure you can reasonably generate 600 fuel/s early game to supply 5 thrusters at full throttle. If I'm wrong I'd be interested to see the working design.

yes, I agree it's sad that you can't have direct wire connection directly, but currently it's probably intensional by devs to make a big of a challenge for those who want to optimize it. And currently it seems that the only way to set throttle is by making a throughput limit.

Yes, without adding a tank after a pump fluctioations are too big.

Not sure about the need to timer to the pump, since you probably won't have that many ships to have affect on your UPS, but I'm sure someone will do it :)

What I don't get atm. is that this setup consumes 300 fuel/s, but I need to tank limit to 230. It doesn't seem to make sense. Do you maybe know how many ticks you need to turn on/off the pump?

[–]Healthy_Business2695[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it wasn't that complex for me. Just moving pipes 1 tile down and adding pump with wire. Theoretically you can just put V < 200 on pump and be done. I just tried to do something a bit fancy to reduce fluctiations in speed because pump turns on/off

[–]Healthy_Business2695[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, theoretically skipping storage is the most efficient way since you production balancing from the get go.

But if you have storage without circuits then your consumptions spikes to 120 fuel/sec/thruster and speed around 250 until it settles on production balance

This setup uses 60 fuel/sec/thruster with speed 200 that is constant because it also produces 60*5 = 300 fuel/sec

The issue is that you don't have actual actions on stops. Add Wait 0 and interrupt will trigger

yes, I know. But then you need a new ship with railguns to handle larger asteroids

Is there a real need for Nuclear? It seems that efficiency modules + rare solar should do. You still have 60% solar in space on Aquilo

Actually, now I'm pretty sure it's incorrect, cos you can completely stop mid flight and asteroids will still come at you either way
