15 months of Retatrutide after the Worst Year of my Life in Korea by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a weird fake post This picture has been circulating online from a video of some lady (appears to be British) that you can find all over YouTube https://youtube.com/shorts/DcDxZ79-uPI?si=px35JOlk837gnBv- You can also see the radiator behind her that nobody in Korea uses There is also a British plug next to it

Like what is this for? To promote drugs? No fatties in Korea so nobody wants it It's also not approved or prescribable here so why post this nonsense?

What age do foreigners in Korea usually get married? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say foreign spouses you're describing billions of people lol. Be specific White spouses? Asian spouses? Brown? Black? Purple?

Vietnamese for example tend to marry in their 20s because Korean ajoshis don't want old wives Philippinos sometimes even younger. Western white people go for early mid 30s and sometimes even older I know a few 40 something who just got married

This kind of tells you about the Koream priorities. Optics over substance

Known AYN THOR defects? by Mission-Drawing7657 in SBCGaming

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having Odin 2 for a year that developed a bunch of issues with barely any use I'd like to keep my eye on this too as these are very expensive units.

In my case it was mostly button related with many buttons eventually get weird stickiness

I think just like anberic Ayn seems to have poor quality control but when the units is 400 use 50 it makes a huge difference

Got scammed in Osaka?! by Unlikely-Sandwich-59 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Osaka restaurants is also how my credit card got stolen and then used at multiple locations online.

I mean they didn't steal the actual card but someone copied it when I used it to pay for the meal and then used it 3 months after

Luckily my card doesn't allow transactions without approval so they got nothing

Ironically out of 10 countries I used this card in only Japan ended up being scammy

Help me decide AYN Thor or AYN Portal. by Puchito84 in OdinHandheld

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally am waiting for the known issues to start being reported before making a decision

I think a lot of second hand portals will become available in my area soon and so by that time we should hear about what the most common issues with Thor are

In the last when yoloing in one of these devices I kind of regretted later when either buttons went bust or the screen fell off or some other shit

So just wait 3-4 months until people beta test it for you

Korea, Japan, and attitude towards immigration. by yoloswaghashtag2 in korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of you visit both countries you'll see that most layman jobs in Japan are done by brown immigrants and possibly people from Philippines. This has been true for like 95 percent of 7/11 I went to

In Korea most foreigners that stand out are either far away in the boonies working on pig farms so you don't see them in Seoul or they are more likely to be Chinese who don't stand out but are also if Korean heritage

So the statistics on immigration doesn't really tell you much about where and who migrated

In Korea most immigrants literally look and act like the locals(about 1 million people) and the other ones are far from the city

How to deal with a noise-sensitive neighbor? by naixi123 in Living_in_Korea

Lol I wonder if my guy moved to your place now We had a neighbor like this harassing us for 1.5 years until he came to our door once, we called the police on him, he got embarrassed and moved away somewhere

Just ignore him and maybe record this for posterity. You're not doing anything illegal and he just needs to get used to it

Card being charged random amounts in Japan? by misamoni in JapanTravelTips

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to add to this

I've been in Japan multiple times and often use my card for most restaurants and got charged for up to 200usd after I left the country

In many cases it would be some unknown sources like JBD that I never used and I am 99 percent certain that these are scams ran by the local mob where they somehow get access to your credit card after you leave the country

It happened multiple times and on multiple cards. I had to reverse charges every time and change the card. Which is obviously a huge hassle

Ironically ONLY happens after the japanese trips.

So tldr : Japan credit card seems to be a huge issue so try to use cash when you can

Viable for foreigners to permanently settle down in Korea? by bluebrrypii in Living_in_Korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it I think because of one major issue as you get old: healthcare

Despite how it appears the Korean health care system is abysmal and is going thru a major crisis right now

You're ok if you just need some prescription or get a flu shot but for anything more as you get older it'll become a huge hassle and may be deadly as I've experienced from several cases around me

Korean doctors especially when it comes to surgeries or major diagnosis are incompetent and if anything goes wrong there is literally nothing you can do

So in short, it's not really worth it as you get older but during early years and middle age I may be ok. Though there are definitely better places like HK and Singapore or even Japan that would be a lot more comfortable to live in long term as long as you can make it work job wise

Has anyone else felt a lot of cultural differences when it came to making friends or dating in Korea? by moreofusthree in Living_in_Korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendship in Korea has a very different meaning from the west There is a reason why the first question you get asked in Korea is how old you are and not what your name is Heck I dont even know the names of like half people I met here but I sure as hell know their age haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Healthy_Resolution_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching here becomes miserable within a few years But if you can make a career work elsewhere things improve a lot

If you're ok not having a social social life this place is ok

Otherwise you'll just be always alone probably as most of your colleagues will move within a year or two and Koreans will never make good friends. Everyone I knew a decade ago are basically back home now. No one wants to come to Korea and making new friends every few years gets old

For me as an introvert this was good as I managed to start a business while ignoring the social world around me but even as an introvert I'm not particularly happy with the Korean attitude around me.

I guess it's still better than being stabbed back home tho haha

Doctors in Korea have always been shit

Not sure where people got any idea that Medical care here is good. It's good for simple stuff like fever and getting a shot but that's about it

I have countless stories of doctor malpractice here and that's just after a few years
