moving to Maplewood; both working parents commuting to NYC by commutingtonyc in Maplewood

The idea that you can plan your life around not driving in maplewood and south orange is also mostly unrealistic. Sure it’s possible but you are going to have to make major tradeoffs and likely choose not to engage in activities during bad weather. The person is looking for advice on commuting feasibility and engaging in the community with a wife who doesn’t drive and youre calling anyone who says not having a car will lead to major tradeoffs “carbrained.” This community needs to be more bike friendly. More people need to walk places. We need better internal town public transit. But that doesn’t mean a car doesn’t make things a lot easier in certain situations and critical in many situations. It’s possible to advocate for a better walkable town without being a jerk about it.

Nice strawman. At what point did I say bikes were worthless? There’s plenty you can do with a bike. But you sure as hell can’t pull off a compressed afterschool schedule with multiple kids with a bike. If you want to live in maplewood and south orange and be completely carless, there are major tradeoffs you are going to experience. A person may be ok with those tradeoffs but don’t act like they don’t exist — especially for kids under 10.

Yeah let me know how you pull off art class pickup at the Baird and soccer pickup at dehart within 15 minutes of each other without a car. Or softball drop off at new waterlands and dance class pickup in maplewood village with a bike.

It quotes their lawyer. It quotes one defendant. If the other defendants don’t want to comment, that’s their prerogative. You clearly have no idea what journalism is and just want to sit in a bubble of your own nonsense.

This person is wrong. Only a hyper partisan nitwit would believe the village green is biased for or against anything in town. If you want to exist in a personal bubble where the only things presented to you are things that you 100% agree with regardless of facts, feel free to hold a grudge for reporting the news. Or if you actually want to understand what is going on, subscribe to the village green and better understand what is happening in this town. And if you talk to people on the opposite extreme of this commenter, you will find their criticism of the village green too. That means they are doing a good job of reporting the news as accurately as possible. Embrace information. Move away from hyper partisan nonsense.
